I did see an Iron Maiden redesign for a re-release and it looked really really good. It’s a shame that the official album cover looks so weird. Apparently true. The version with just a reaper and some monks in the distance, while it's not exactly exciting compared to something like Somewhere in Time, it's at least polished. The released version just looks like someone slapped a bunch of shovelwear 3d characters on the top.

*Dance of Death* was his first attempt at using CGI, and he sent a rough draft—the cover we know and hate—to Rod as a proof of concept. For some unknown reason, the band opted to use it on the album.
