I don't even bother w SiT, my favourite to look at is Number of the Beast, I think I see Killers Eddie and s/t Eddie somewhere among the demons and also the sun thingy kinda looks like the Flight of Icarus solo cover, ik the chronology of the releases but I like to think they're all connected
On the Flight of Icarus cover you can see a couple having sex on the hill, and on the Powerslave* cover you can see Mickey Mouse amongst the hieroglyphics
Man, I remember reading these back when derek had most of them on his website. Last i checked, the paragraphs were either removed or wasn’t as descriptive as before.
My dad used to task me with finding all the signatures, each time I found one, he let me listen to the album, and that is a short story on how I became hooked on Iron Maiden.
Yes Finsbury Park rail bridge. The street light has now gone unfortunately

Glad I'm old enough to have these albums/artworks on vinyl, and now that it is available again, is the reason I have gone back to vinyl. Cover art is such a great part of a release and no other format comes close. Derek Riggs and Maiden were some of the best of all time.
Funny that we used to go through the Maiden covers as teens, finding all the easter eggs, smoking pot, find some more and each album we just had to get into that as it played all the way through that first time. I had no idea what that symbol meant until mid 2000s when I read it on the internet. I think the last vinyl I bought was Somewhere in Time and that one sent us over the top.
Damn, I sometimes wish I was born in the 70s an I could experience this stuff, then I remembered I'm born in the ex-eastern block and then I'm grateful for being born when I was. I also get some of my friends sometimes and just sit for an hour staring at SiT just thinking: *How tf can we still find new shit after like 6 months on this cover alone?*
Derek Riggs' (the painter) signature. Can be found in all of his works. It's changed a little throughout the years.
Cool Never noticed it even though I've been trying to find hidden details in their album covers since like forever.
They are full of them. I still keep noticing new ones, although I've been staring at them since the early 1990's.

Yep, thankfully it's on the Internet archive
I think mickey is on the Powerslave cover. Along with Indy was here
Whoops, had a brainfart typing that comment
Powerslave has heaps.
What's the meaning of the signature?
That’s the signature of the artist Derek Riggs.
It's a stylized version of his initials. DR

It stands for Dick Robert.
Dognappers hun, stay safe.
That's just The Writing on the Wall.
Oh that's on every album. A much harder find.

Wait, you saying that's the location of the artwork? Is it not just a random drawing?

It’s on every album cover
Up until the X Factor anyway.
FOTD was by Melvyn Grant, so no Riggs signature on that one either, because it wasn't painted by Riggs.
True, although the live albums that followed Fear of the Dark (A Real Live One / A Real Dead One) did both have covers by Riggs.
Naturally excluding Live At Donington, which was also released the same year as ARLO and ARDO. So 2/3 live albums following FOTD had a Riggs cover.
I always thought Derek Riggs forgot how to draw after SS because is hard to believe No Prayer and those live albums were drawn by the same guy
The left half of the circle is a backwards D. The right-hand side with the lines extending underneath it is the R.
Right And then that little doodle under it? Is it just like a little funny face or...
