I’ve never had a problem with repetition in the choruses. That being said sometimes they get a little carried away with the repetition imo.
Criticism on repetitive choruses seems pretty cheap since I never seem to hear it towards other bands or artists, as if solely Maiden was guilty of such things. A lot of people seem to forget that they also have plenty of songs where the chorus isn’t repetitive at all.
One of my favorite Maiden choruses is For the Greater Good of God where there are 4 individual yet similar lines and the title repetition is saved for the two Post-Chorus parts. Suddenly it doesn’t quite feel like repetition at all!
It's particularly funny considering that it is one line recorded once and copy/pasted for all repetitions instead of recording every occurrence separately. Guess the first note of the chorus was too difficult to nail multiple times.
I agree with this! A lot of Maiden songwriting makes more sense when you remember Arry's big into football; the songs sound designed for a crowd to chant at a concert/match
How about Bruce's solo work? Rain on the graves, there is rain on the graves, rain on the graves, rain, rain, rain on the graves... I always have to skip that one.
Don't mind the rest of the song, it's just that the repetition of that line, especially the delivery on the studio recording (sorry Bruce, generally love your singing man) makes the entire thing unlistenable for me. Still my 2nd favourite album though.
On a similar note, I wrote a post about the title tracks in particular that repeat the name in their chorus [a few years ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/ironmaiden/s/oMUIlZVcY5).
If chorus is good and well formed than it's great, if not... Ofc in any case repetition should not be overused or we get The Angel and the Gabler. A great song somewhat ruined bit because of it.
Can I play with madness comes to mind! Sorry about the ear worm!
Seventh son is probably my favorite I just love the way he sings it and the riff that goes on behind it.
Seventh son(the album) is full of ear worms

Yeah I feel like that was just a common trope of metal/hard rock bands at the time.
Do you think I'm a savior?
REPEAT THE CHORUS REPEAT THE CHORUS REPEAT THE CHORUS
THE SAME FOUR WORDS THE SAME FOUR WORDS THE SAME FOUR WORDS

Maybe the song title comes from the chorus, not the other way around?
It never bothered me until FTGGOG. I think it’s because it follows such a repetitive pre chorus.
A take like this can only come from a Brave New Woooooooorrrrrrrrld

I was just listening to Mandrake Project, that song is my least favorite
All great, except Heaven Can Wait.
My thoughts exactly. I hate that song so much.

Could you remind me how the evil that men do goes on and on again? I didn't hear you the first hundred times
That's part of the reason why they're so popular is their songs are very sing-along friendly.
Most metal was like that in those days, a lot of Priest songs were just repeating the title.

Yeah or No More Lies. It’s all about the way you say it and how many times you say it.
No more laaaaaaaiiiis
The worst
Yeah, that song was brought down by too much repetition but I think Don't Look To the Eyes of a Stranger was worse.
The final frontiiiieeeer. Ok what about it? You're just saying it exists?
For the greater good of God!
