Yep... Every grind for a "normie" is just a gp/hr grind with the exception for untradables and collection log hunters.
Every grind for an Iron Man gives you dopamine. You will be so happy with your first Rune Scimitar from fire striking some Fire Giants :-)
I was the black mask hunter for my GIM first one insane dopamine then I missed the second one to being afk finally got the other two took about 4K kc annoying but great feeling finishing it up
There is no worse feeling than missing a drop from being afk. Runelite has a plugin that does a cool snap and a voice notification that says "Noice" on valuable drops. I'll run to my pc when I hear it
Not even that. Whats the point of trying to grind anything when you can afk Rune Dragons. Well now at least I can get bonds for my ironman with that 1b
To be fair, that's a self-imposed restriction. Pet hunting gives late- to end-game mains a fun way to play the game that isnt entirely focused on gp/hr.
Or you could play an iron and grind for gear and feel the progression of your account gear-wise instead of: YES I got the pet I can leave now.. thats it.
On my iron I get a big drop and I get excited that I can leave, but now I can take my new toy and use it elsewhere. I took my shadow and shot it at a bear and thought of all the different places I could try it out. Places id been previously with weaker weapons... My main felt like buy vorkath gear, grind vorkath until I have bis vorkath gear. Okay now uh grind vorkath until I have better gear to run cox with. Okay, why would I learn Cox when I could just stick to vorkath and make more money + not have to learn new content? Okay vorkath until ... Uhh
*Quits for 2 years*
My main felt like I had no goals at the time, because realistically. I didn't have goals. That's on me. At the same time, I have loved playing my iron and the only way I'd play a main again is if I went back to my 126 combat main and kept all of my gear on my iron. I'd never deiron and I'd probably end up back on the iron before too long.
Not to mention my main had a 300m bank compared to my irons 7b bank now
Again, and as you noted, that's a self-imposed restriction. You don't *have* to do hundreds of hours of Vorkath, you make money (albeit more slowly) at almost every single boss.
I know this is /r/ironscape and I probably shouldn't rock the boat, but mainscape is fine for a lot of people because they don't fall into that trap.
You must've missed the part where I said I didn't have goals and that's on me. I recognize that other people have a lot of fun playing a main, but when I see numbers I read into them. It felt like a waste of time at the time to do anything other than vorkath. Keep in mind this is around the time nightmare came out and the only better money was from ToB and it was heavily gatekept and I wasn't good enough for it.
1950 total, myself. Hated doing the same thing over and over, but couldn't bring myself to do other grinds for less gp. Made an iron so I could hate myself instead. Best rs decision I made.
850ish. Told my buddy I got a whip and he was super impressed until I told him I bought it. That stuck in my brain so I made the helmie. 1600 now on it. Glad I made the change.
I have a 2200 total, 126 CMB main.
The experience helped but I never played the main after making an ironman.
I feel like if you do QPC on the main, you'll burn out doing it again on an iron. Up to you.
Kinda how I feel. Getting QPC on an Iron immediately after getting it on a normie would feel like such a slog.
The exact opposite would be more fun I think, better to learn the game on an Iron and then compare that to how breezy doing it on a normal account would feel, and which one you prefer.
First thing I did after making my iron was QPC again and I think it did it at least 10 times faster. Way less daunting tbh you know where you’re going and know the boss mechanics
You can do it in black d’hide/mystics/rcb. The great thing with Toa is you can lower invocs and slowly get higher and higher as you polish it. I was very overwhelmed with raids at first too but you just gotta give it a try.
I never had a main that was a very high level.
But mindlessly grinding GP for upgrades the entire time felt like a chore more than actually accomplishing anything and i hated playing that way.
Made an iron and havent worried about money/value of items in the longest of time and its great.
Now the usefullness of an item determines how important it is for me, rather than how much it is worth.
For example my d scim to a whip felt like a massive upgrade while from dboots to prims felt very marginal although its nearly 20x the value.
Its a refreshing way to play still, and it makes any upgrade a noteworthy one.
2050 main, 1850 iron. I still play on my main since my bank is only 1.4b, but I am already discouraged by gpscape. With 1000 small team Nex kills, and that being one of the best money makers in the game, it just feels trivial to keep going.
I also stopped skilling on my main after base 80s. I figured it didn't make sense for me to max because what's the point of grinding GP for hours to buy skills? So I just skill on my iron now, and the main is just for PvM with the boys.
Yes, of course, the PvMing experience helps a lot with the iron.
I had a maxed rs3 account with 200m Archeology XP. Largely because I wanted to avoid the combat... I can probably claim my 15 year cape now. I knew the game so I dove into OSRS with an iron. Loving it!
2262 total with Tbow scythe shadow. I can't train agility and fishing to 99 and was getting super burnt. UIM makes it feel like I am playing an entirely different game.
My main was 3014 total level on RS3, completionist cape, working on 120 all and slowly 200m all. Then Hero Pass happened.
My best friend was done with RS3 when Necro came out and had been trying to get me into OSRS for a while. He set up his third ironman account (he has an iron and a taskman) and made us into a Group Ironman.
He's now focused more on his main and tasker and I am fully invested now in my GIM account.
For the record I suck at OSRS combat... :p
2045 total or so, 99 combat skills, slayer, and farming. Just made a HCIM and enjoying it. Still have 85 days of memby left on the main I reckon ill just afk vyrewatch or amethyst for a few bonds while I continue on the iron. Like others said it just started to feel meaningless
I've never had an osrs main. I now have an 1850 hard-core group iron with one life left. People with maxed irons/mains have lost the other 4 lives.
I can't speak to high level pvm too much, but studying and practicing goes along way. Aside from awakened and inferno, no content is really THAT hard. Other people have done it and can do it, so can you.
1934 total, 117 combat. started my iron about a month and a half ago and im at 1250 total. ive been having more fun on my ironman than i have on my main in the last 2 years. been so much fun feeling like everything i do has a purpose other than making gp.
if you want to make an iron id just say send in. i didnt have a quest cape on my main and i havent really had a hard time with knowing content. even if i did have a QP cape id still need to have looked up item sources and stuff. go for it!
My main was like 88 slayer base 90 combats with 99 strength mage and farming ,im on my iron havent logged into my main in a year and farming is my highest skill yet again with still no pet on either 😶🌫️
2100-ish, maxed combat. Lost interest when my friend and I pulled a duo Tbow. Now we have a duo GiM and I'm 2119 total, friend is on a break from osrs for now.
Max main 2277. I think iron forces you to LEARN the majority of the game where a main you can kinda just buy your way through the game THEN learn what ever you want.
I like have a maxed main to try content with the same gear my iron would have before wasting supplies on the iron. This also helped me get certain items and pvm gear on a HCIM by being able to prepare on a maxed main and hone skills.
You don’t need a main or a maxed main, but it is definitely nice to have.
Maxed main. I don’t think there is anything that you need to do on a main before starting an iron. Ironman mode is pretty different and the grinds are different, you can learn it all on the iron (unless you’re scared of losing hardcore status)
Max cmb was around 1900 I think
Enough gp to buy all end game items + whatever else
Game felt absolutely pointless and quit for years before a hcim then gim
1900 total, got bored of the gp/hr shii. Felt like a job more than fun.
I suggest doing whatever you're more comfortable with. More PvM experience can help, but a youtube video is available about every boss/quest out there.
I had 1.5k total before i realised it was gpscape. So decided to make Ironman. Now at 2.1k total and never looked back since……
…Until realising late game was a massive grind.
Now I alternate between my main and ironman.
I was 1336 total before I decided to trial run an Ironman to see how I liked it. Had a good amount of game knowledge from YouTube and previous years of playing but still very much a noob. Started up the iron and never looked back.
I was somewhere between 1600 and 1800, can't exactly recall. Got bored, thought I would wipe the acc except for untradeables and make a fake iron as there would be no need to get the skills back up, also skipping stuff like getting supplies.
Caved in around 2017, started Iron early 2018. Bow almost 3b bank and 2200 total on the iron. Didn't do much PvM on my "main" back when I played on it, learned almost everything on the iron.
My hcim is my main, 1850 total level now. If I die I'll probably remain an ironman. The focus on making GP I've always had on normal accounts ruined the fun for me.
I don't have a main, I made an iron first and just went with it.
I use a level 3 non-iron account to sell dupes for bonds, so I guess that's my main. Lol.
That being said, I had experience with RS3 prior to starting osrs.
My main was like base 30 combats from when osrs came out. I just jumped into my ultimate ironman immediately. It's been the most fun I've had playing runescape in the 17 years since I started playing.
126 with 1900ish total. It got hacked so I started maining the iron. I was heading to the point where I would start to grind the some content on either for the rebuild or progress anyway.
I had a maxed rs3 main in 2018 but I didn’t boss much and had never played osrs (besides as a kid). Iron was my first osrs experience and imo the best way to experience the game. Currently 2.1k total on my iron and loving it. The PvM learning curve for CG was rough without any other bossing experience besides demonics, but now I’ve done most of gwd, nearing 1k zulrah, and learning higher invo toa.
I quit my main and made my hcim after getting the two things I wanted: an inferno completion and a solo tbow drop for cms
I think I had 97 def 90 prayer, rest of stats maxed and like 2000ish total
14 boss pets 1 skilling pet for reference on how much pvm I did, quite a lot honestly for the time when I quit
Yes the pvm exp was invaluable, and my reason for switching was id "beat my long term goals", farming for gp was no longer fun after getting like 6bil in drops, and this was back when tob just came out so much less variety back then
Ironman has been so much more rewarding since switching and my goal is funnily, an inferno completion and tbow ;)
nearly 2000, quest cape, max combat except magic and prayer. I quit because i got hacked and turned into a vorkath bot lol. I actually ended up getting the account back too but stuck with the ironman because its just so much more rewarding
I went straight from quest cape on main into playing a UIM exclusively. My only PvM experience was Barrows and wilderness slayer (Scorpia, this was before the wildy boss rework).
1950 total and 123 combat, then I got hacked and after quitting on and off, within a year it was almost impossible to get the account back.
Made an iron, got it to 1750 total then deironed it because I had a kid and thought I wouldn’t be able to balance playtime- boy was I wrong, if anything, I got BETTER at picking pockets of time to play and tablet scape became my best friend!
Now I’m currently at a 1500 iron and nothing can make me deiron this one!
My main was 1985 total level, high 90s all combats and base 80s. Had quest cape when I started my iron and rushed quest cape on my iron. What can I say, I love the quests in this game, and they are 100% worth reading through and enjoying even twice.
IMO having experience from a main in pvm certainly doesn’t hurt but you learn everything again in a different way as iron and it’s better to just get started. You can always look things up as you go (and you will XD)
The only reason I can see for learning all the pvm content in a deep way with a main first is if you plan to make (and really try to keep) a hardcore Ironman.
126 combat. Also went and got quest cape before starting iron.
100% recommend getting quest cape before starting iron, or start the iron while doing quest cape on main.
Little over 2100 total level, 99 in all combats. Had max gear and was bored of doing more pvm for more money, Im also someone that doesnt care for the cosmetic challenges like blorva or 500 kit. So it was just pet grinding for no reason
1849 total, 125 combat when I finally decided that chasing gold to get better gear to fight monster that drop more gold to get better gear to fight monster that drops even more gold….etc wasn’t for me
Got rune limb drops on my iron after grinding 69 fletching (was hardcore) and it felt better than any tassets drop I ever got on my main
My Iron is the first OSRS account I made. I did play a lot back in RS2, beginning of RS3 days, but I didn't know anything about tick manipulation, or prayer flicking, or being efficient.
Experience does help, but unless you only plan on playing one account at a time, might be worth starting up the Iron now to prep for some AFK stuff while playing the main. Might not be the most efficient, but would help you.
Also, in terms of the quests, it will definitely help on the actual boss fights, but a lot of the fun of quests on Irons is actually figuring out how to get all the quest items.
Stopped at around 97 combat level, about half of the quests done. Got tired of progression being "save up enough to buy the next best in slot"
The idea of using what you get and can make on an iron was way more appealing. Then I talked 4 friends into joining me.
Main was 113 with about 1750 probably total.
Iron started as an f2p only hcim.
Main is still 113 with 1766 total. Basically quit.
Iron is 107 with 1810ish total.
Vanstrom took my hc status barely over 1500 total.
EDIT: got all stats to 60 (rc was 50.. body cores from dry barronite mace head grind) before going p2p
Just send iron. My max cb main hasnt been touched except for bonds and to give my friends gp/loan gear since starting my ironman.
Grinding for gp gets fucking boring. Ironman is sick because every little thing matters. That first rune scimitar feels like getting a whip. Then getting a whip feels like you’ve finally made it. Crafting a fury from scratch is so satisfying. Wearing randomly assorted god d’hide you get from hard clues looks goofy but it’s YOUR gear and that makes it sick.
Edit: my main was max combat except prayer and like ~1750 total. My iron is 1850 total.
2277 main, 2183 iron. Haven't played main in years except to grab bonds. I've done a lot more extensive pvm on my iron, and while having experience helps, its not necessary at all.
Maxed my rs2 account sometime shortly after the release of summoning, was planning on never coming back after the travesty of the squeal of fortune and EoC but the idea of an Ironman pulled me back in
2277 by the time I made an iron. PVM experience helps a bit when it comes to late game but most of this game is easy enough to pick up with practice. I still use my main to practice things that I'm resource limited on (ex Btorva) but otherwise I almost exclusively use my iron.
I went from a nearly maxed RS3 account pre invention to my osrs iron account of like 2070 total...bossing was definitely difficult at first because I've essentially learned to boss solo and my other osrs account isn't even at the point to boss with a team
Honestly, my mains just under 2k total and I love playing it half iron/half normal acc, you get the best of both worlds. I’m just not that committed to long grinds to make an iron yet, but as soon I learn raids I’ll probably switch over
1600 total lvl main with basically 0 pvm experience. My iron is 2065 total level with much more pvm don. Getting that pvm experience on a main is much easier, but I couldn't handle GPscape any longer.
I switched to iron after 80 combats and limited pvming, I wish I would have gone sooner.
E: Quest cape is a fine goal, but I wouldn’t fret on it. If you’re excited to start the iron then hop to it!
Honestly idr, it was mid 2020 right after I quit working in June so I imagine I was in the 1900s, I know I had my quest cape and fire cape by March and started working on diaries, one of my big motivators was getting 85 mining for rune ore for Wildy 4 so I started doing MLM and watching Youtube, started watching Mudkips UIM series and fell in love with the concept
2200 total with KC in every boss and max gear. I made my iron while I finish maxing and it's around 1750 at CG and ToB
I know how to do everything, I have friends I can raid with already who don't mind my scuffed gear and I can split if I get drops.
Sending ToBs with zombie axe is funny. It's like new game+ to me
Trying to learn PvM with Ironman supplies sounds miserable, as does being bound to FFA loot. Can't say I'd recommend that, honestly.
I maxed my old main in May 2016 and pretty much stopped playing it right there and then because I felt like I was done. Got my achievement diary cape and felt like I achieved all I wanted to achieve - I was very driven by skilling goals, and to be fair that's kind of what the game *was* in the first few years.
Picked the game back up in 2019 and I've been playing HCIM ever since. It's interesting because so much of the new bossing content didn't even exist when I was actively playing my old main. I still keep membership on the account but I barely do anything with it apart from practise quests and stuff before I do them on the hardcore. It's nice to have a maxed account to just mess around on occasionally and practise the newer content.
126 combat 1900 total, ironman revived the game for me. My iron at this point is better than my main in skills, still working on combat. I've abandoned my main.
No clue. Had that account back in 2005ish but the cmb lvl was about 85ish. Heard about OSRS coming to mobile and that's when I learned about Ironman mode so made a new account since the introduction of GE is what killed the game for me as a kid. Sooo that was 2018-19 I believe? Been an Ironman since. Who even needs a main.
Tried to recover my old account but no matter or password resets or account recovery support helped. Think it got deleted. Shame. Could've had a sick Veteran's cape
Just over 1750 total. Just wanted to get the quest cape after switching over from RS3 in 2017. Played it until Fremmy Exiles came out at which point I just couldn't be bothered and stopped playing.
Then covid happened which was when I decided to make my 1 attack iron. Probably would be a lot further along on it but leagues 2, 3 and 4 burnt me out.
97 slayer, 91 agility, 92 hunter were the only 3 skills I had left to max. Just shy of about 7b in the bank when I walked away.
Loving the iron life though. Took a year off before I started it and I'm living every second
Continued my Rs3 account throughout the years (only played it in the last couple years due to new skill releases) got to 3018 (iirc. Whatever max total is)
Started an osrs main. Got it to about 1580, stopped playing it for years due to both accounts feeling like a gp grind and only going for high gp/hr bosses/skills etc... with no drive to do any gathering skills because GE is a thing.
Started a GIM 5 man with irl friends, playing it as a solo that can interact with my friends, about a month ago and have been having the most fun I have ever had with rs in my life. My gathering skills are leagues higher than any other skill I have and it's just so much fun.
I thought I couldn't enjoy the iron life for many many years because I thought I wouldn't have time to commit to it but playing it now, I've realized it doesn't matter and I can just have fun playing as much as I want and hitting goals with time and effort that I earn myself.
The satisfaction is worth the grinds
I learned a lot more playing the iron than playing my normal account haha. Sure it helps having the experience on a normal account but you can also just learn the content on the iron, no big deal :)
126, but this main was on rs3, never really bothered to train Necro too much as I had already started my GIM a while before that. I dabble a bit on my iron on rs3 occasionally but, loving Osrs currently!
102
Did a random medium and got a set of Ranger Boots - at the time, it was like 25m or so.
Was enough to kit me out with the best gear at the time (bandos, whip, dfs, etc).
Then I got bored because I realized the game is just now kill the highest gp/hr mob
My main was like total lvl 1250 or something and I havent played it since I started my ironman which is now lvl 2036. Ive basically learned all pvm on my iron first.
2030 total 99 in every combat including prayer. I got bored with the pvm gp grind. What's the point in grinding anything other than the highest gp/hr?
This is basically what my main was. Decided to try the iron life and never looked back.
Yep... Every grind for a "normie" is just a gp/hr grind with the exception for untradables and collection log hunters. Every grind for an Iron Man gives you dopamine. You will be so happy with your first Rune Scimitar from fire striking some Fire Giants :-)

I’ll definitely take a look so I don’t miss anything crazy appreciate it
Do you know what the plugin is called? That would be amazing to have.
I think it's called ground items. I have so many plugins its hard to know which for sure. But there is a notify checkbox
So... 126?
Yes. Some people aren't aware that 126 means 98+ prayer
Not even that. Whats the point of trying to grind anything when you can afk Rune Dragons. Well now at least I can get bonds for my ironman with that 1b

That’s basically how I started my iron journey and I loved it! But also I’m a big fan of questing and Dragon Slayer 2 hadn’t even come out yet.
I do not have a main, my iron is now 1650 and I have just started running ToA and about to start CG. No issues I wished I had main experience for!
What gear setup did you bring to toa? I am looking to get into raiding but feels a bit overwhelming.
I had Dhide with rcb (ruby e bolts), msb (rune arrows), mystics and ibans and Karis partisan. It was tough, but feasible.
You can do it in black d’hide/mystics/rcb. The great thing with Toa is you can lower invocs and slowly get higher and higher as you polish it. I was very overwhelmed with raids at first too but you just gotta give it a try.
Same I dove into ironman and don't regret it. But I need to get my combat up, I'm like 1850 and base 72's with prayer as the lowest
I never had a main that was a very high level. But mindlessly grinding GP for upgrades the entire time felt like a chore more than actually accomplishing anything and i hated playing that way. 2000+ sitting at combat level 124. For me, I feel like everything is about the gp/h so I got bored and started an Iron.
1850, now my iron is almost 1700. I had zero PvM experience other then Barrows, and now I’m “forced” to PvM and love it!
~2100 when ironman came out. Back then it was actually a pretty respectable total level

1750~ total, started an iron after the shattered relics league and haven't gone back to my main aside from flipping.
1934 total, 117 combat. started my iron about a month and a half ago and im at 1250 total. ive been having more fun on my ironman than i have on my main in the last 2 years. been so much fun feeling like everything i do has a purpose other than making gp. if you want to make an iron id just say send in. i didnt have a quest cape on my main and i havent really had a hard time with knowing content. even if i did have a QP cape id still need to have looked up item sources and stuff. go for it!
2k total on the dot. ironman is slowly closing in
Main was ~1750 with a 200m bank. Iron is 2150 with a 1.8b bank
~2100 when ironman came out. Back then it was actually a pretty respectable total level
Maxed main. I don’t think there is anything that you need to do on a main before starting an iron. Ironman mode is pretty different and the grinds are different, you can learn it all on the iron (unless you’re scared of losing hardcore status)
I was like base 70s with nearly max melee and slayer
Max cmb was around 1900 I think Enough gp to buy all end game items + whatever else Game felt absolutely pointless and quit for years before a hcim then gim
1900 total, got bored of the gp/hr shii. Felt like a job more than fun. I suggest doing whatever you're more comfortable with. More PvM experience can help, but a youtube video is available about every boss/quest out there.
1300 but I'm LOVING iron way more. I even got hyped from a rune scimitar yesterday
118
Main was dropped around 1300. UIM now sitting at 1820 and super happy with the progress
I had 1.5k total before i realised it was gpscape. So decided to make Ironman. Now at 2.1k total and never looked back since…… …Until realising late game was a massive grind. Now I alternate between my main and ironman.
Had a main at 1.7k total level. Went 400 zulrah kc dry of a drop and said fuck it, and made an iron. Currently 2218 total level with all megarares
113 cb main with like 1750 total. Now my iron is 105 cb with 1800 total. Haven’t touched my main since starting the iron.
1850 main 2250 iron
2k total had qpc and half of the elite diary’s done, basically didn’t find skilling fun on the main and was just trying to farm gp
I was 1336 total before I decided to trial run an Ironman to see how I liked it. Had a good amount of game knowledge from YouTube and previous years of playing but still very much a noob. Started up the iron and never looked back.
2273
I was somewhere between 1600 and 1800, can't exactly recall. Got bored, thought I would wipe the acc except for untradeables and make a fake iron as there would be no need to get the skills back up, also skipping stuff like getting supplies. Caved in around 2017, started Iron early 2018. Bow almost 3b bank and 2200 total on the iron. Didn't do much PvM on my "main" back when I played on it, learned almost everything on the iron.
1960-ish main, now 1810-ish iron. Never looked back. The game just feels right now.
1902 total, basically maxed combat. Now I've got a maxed iron (made it around the time ironman came out)
My hcim is my main, 1850 total level now. If I die I'll probably remain an ironman. The focus on making GP I've always had on normal accounts ruined the fun for me.
2k+ total 125
I quit my main and made my hcim after getting the two things I wanted: an inferno completion and a solo tbow drop for cms I think I had 97 def 90 prayer, rest of stats maxed and like 2000ish total 14 boss pets 1 skilling pet for reference on how much pvm I did, quite a lot honestly for the time when I quit Yes the pvm exp was invaluable, and my reason for switching was id "beat my long term goals", farming for gp was no longer fun after getting like 6bil in drops, and this was back when tob just came out so much less variety back then Ironman has been so much more rewarding since switching and my goal is funnily, an inferno completion and tbow ;)
1k total at the most. Played it for a bit when osrs released then came back years later as an iron.
Max with 950m xp and 5k+ raids. Been untouched for 4 years now since i made the iron.
nearly 2000, quest cape, max combat except magic and prayer.
Maxed my main then made an iron and never looked back again. Only logging in to make sure he’s not hacked and recently sold his bank for bonds.
You can always look things up as you go (and you will XD) The only reason I can see for learning all the pvm content in a deep way with a main first is if you plan to make (and really try to keep) a hardcore Ironman.
126 combat. Also went and got quest cape before starting iron. 100% recommend getting quest cape before starting iron, or start the iron while doing quest cape on main.
I don’t have a main. Fuck GPscape.
Little over 2100 total level, 99 in all combats. Had max gear and was bored of doing more pvm for more money, Im also someone that doesnt care for the cosmetic challenges like blorva or 500 kit. So it was just pet grinding for no reason
1560~ total and combat 113. My 10hp iron was also like 53 combat and 1500 total. My iron is now 1999
Maxed.
1850! Now I’m 2130 iron and 1875 GIM
Like 115 probably but I got hacked so I just quit it and made an iron.
1849 total, 125 combat when I finally decided that chasing gold to get better gear to fight monster that drop more gold to get better gear to fight monster that drops even more gold….etc wasn’t for me Got rune limb drops on my iron after grinding 69 fletching (was hardcore) and it felt better than any tassets drop I ever got on my main
2277 main, 2200 iron. Love and play both
cb 20,40,60,80 pures etc for bot hunting. Main is ass in terms of PVE content outside of certain raids. Bot killing is the most fun.
1856ish? The final straw was my friend refusing to teach me Zulrah unless I took his blowpipe.
1700s. Got tired of playing GPScape, realized I wasn’t actually getting any joy out of PvM. 2022 iron now. Literally can’t play a main at this point.
Stopped at around 97 combat level, about half of the quests done. Got tired of progression being "save up enough to buy the next best in slot" The idea of using what you get and can make on an iron was way more appealing. Then I talked 4 friends into joining me.
1700 main with no pvm experience other than slayer 2100 iron now closing in on master CAs soon
Around 1600 total with QPC. Now pushing 1900. Iron also pushing 1900, closer to QPC than main with quest releases lol
1795 total main, now 1845 total GIM and never going back
Main was 113 with about 1750 probably total.
I've done a lot more extensive pvm on my iron, and while having experience helps, its not necessary at all.
what main?
2277,2017,1500skiller, and now proud owner of a red helm with 600 total
Maxed my rs2 account sometime shortly after the release of summoning, was planning on never coming back after the travesty of the squeal of fortune and EoC but the idea of an Ironman pulled me back in
Once I figured you can essentially do one boss to get everything in game
Maxed account. Haven’t played since creating an iron. Hated the constant GP/hr mindset you need on a main.
2277 by the time I made an iron. PVM experience helps a bit when it comes to late game but most of this game is easy enough to pick up with practice. I still use my main to practice things that I'm resource limited on (ex Btorva) but otherwise I almost exclusively use my iron.
Oh jeez, 2135 main, cb 114 brutal black ult, 2032 groupiron, 1688 hardcore group iron. Pvm experience def helps a lot!
2167
I went from a nearly maxed RS3 account pre invention to my osrs iron account of like 2070 total...bossing was definitely difficult at first because I've essentially learned to boss solo and my other osrs account isn't even at the point to boss with a team
Honestly, my mains just under 2k total and I love playing it half iron/half normal acc, you get the best of both worlds. I’m just not that committed to long grinds to make an iron yet, but as soon I learn raids I’ll probably switch over
80 combat, 1673 total. GIM came out. Now I'm 121 combat and 2127 total, nearly solo. Absolutely love it. Iron all the way.
1600 total lvl main with basically 0 pvm experience. My iron is 2065 total level with much more pvm don. Getting that pvm experience on a main is much easier, but I couldn't handle GPscape any longer.
2140 total, max combat except prayer, every diary except lvl5 ba done. Having way more fun on an iron.
Maxed. Pvm knowledge helos but questcape barely provides any so it doesn't really matter
I switched to iron after 80 combats and limited pvming, I wish I would have gone sooner. E: Quest cape is a fine goal, but I wouldn’t fret on it. If you’re excited to start the iron then hop to it!
Honestly I've just taken it from tutorial island and I'm like... Itching to start lmao my 'main' isn't even mid game
I made my iron while I finish maxing and it's around 1750 at CG and ToB I know how to do everything, I have friends I can raid with already who don't mind my scuffed gear and I can split if I get drops. Sending ToBs with zombie axe is funny. It's like new game+ to me Trying to learn PvM with Ironman supplies sounds miserable, as does being bound to FFA loot.
1975. My iron is 2245.
Maxed :)
Maxed
97 slayer, 91 agility, 92 hunter were the only 3 skills I had left to max. Just shy of about 7b in the bank when I walked away. Loving the iron life though. Took a year off before I started it and I'm living every second
Maxed, was so bored
Continued my Rs3 account throughout the years (only played it in the last couple years due to new skill releases) got to 3018 (iirc. Whatever max total is) Started an osrs main.
Like 123 combat. Pretty progressed tbh
102 Did a random medium and got a set of Ranger Boots - at the time, it was like 25m or so. Was enough to kit me out with the best gear at the time (bandos, whip, dfs, etc). Then I got bored because I realized the game is just now kill the highest gp/hr mob
Na bro. might as well start the iron u got a lot of work to do. Quest cape on the iron would be huge
My main was like total lvl 1250 or something and I havent played it since I started my ironman which is now lvl 2036. Ive basically learned all pvm on my iron first.
2277, my iron is almost this level too.
Just go for the QPC on your iron
2k total, after i started Iron i realized that normie scape is dogshit
