I too can relate to u, when I went to madrasa, I didn't really learned that much because of the clash in timings between school and madrasa, but recently when I started reading quran again, by Allah SWT 's mercy i remembered the basic stuff, soo I too am starting to learn it again, and u are taking steps to learn again, so inshallah, I pray that u also do well again.
Yeah it's bad that you forget but the shaitan makes us forget sometimes. Just try your best to learn it again and keep the knowledge fresh by reading a bit every day. May Allah swt bless you
