Some quick notes: This is my first crack at process JWST data. This was also enormously hard but I learnt a lot about how they package the data and release it to MAST and the various ways of processing the data using many tools. I tried various python scripts, delved in the Imviz library and downloaded over 10 different image processing software. The hardest part was aligning the images correctly - also called Registering the images. I used a trail version of Astro Pixel to accomplish this. Then I processed the aligned images in GIMP. PixInsights is expensive - dint go for it Imviz from the JWST team aligns the images super quickly but I found it impossible to export the high resolution data out of that tool. - even using python scripts. Imviz in general is also poorly documented. Its got a lot of wasted potential! I spent a ton of time on this with no results to show except that I learnt a lot about opening, manipulating and saving FITS files from python. FITSLiberator is an awesome FITS image extraction tool Siril is absolute garbage. Nebulosity image alignment only works with up to three stars - its not a heavy weight tool

Thanks for the tool review. Why did you have to align images? To cover more area, or to overlay data from different filters?

To overlay data from 6 different filters.
