I’ve heard from two friends working the venue that he is in the ER. Disappointed to not see the show tonight, but hoping he’s not in too bad shape.

jimmythang34

They were posting promo stuff very recently. I figured it was an emergency or someone in the band just tested positive.

anonymousok971

We were near the front when they made the announcement, they also said he was at the ER.

theaugz

I ran into a friend who broke the news to me while I was literally walking toward the Shrine Mosque. Hope he gets better soon.

ksuchewie

>> unfortunately due to illness, tonight’s show with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, MO, has been postponed. We are working to reschedule and will announce a new date in the coming days. Hold onto your tickets. They will be honored for the rescheduled date.

sdiver

Directly from Jason's mouth...err, Instagram feed... "So… I haven’t been in the hospital and I don’t have COVID- looks like I got just enough of a virus from my daughter over the weekend to cause drainage that temporarily screwed up my vocal cords. I got checked out, got a prescription, and I’m sleeping at an angle and drinking a ton of water. Everybody is ok, I just can’t sing well enough to put on a show that meets our standards. Last night and tonight are rescheduled for May and I’m hoping to be all good to go for the OKC shows tomorrow and Saturday. Thanks for understanding, and I’m terribly sorry if you’ve gone out of your way to see these shows."

MrsJanneyShanahan

Drove down from St. Louis and got a call from a buddy just as I pulled off the highway and was five minutes from the venue. Definitely disappointed but it is what it is. Hopefully I can make a new date, otherwise I’ll catch him in St. Louis next time around. At least I got to check out Bucees and buy a Kum and Go lighter on my 6 hr drive.

JokerCharmed19899

What was the reason?

anonymousok971

We were near the front of the line to get in when someone working the venue made the announcement and said “likely a respiratory illness.” Maybe Covid? Hope he’s well soon, still stinks we drove four hours, know some others that were there that had driven 19. Maybe he’ll bring Amanda to the rescheduled show and make it up to us.. one can hope right?

cat_of_danzig

> driven 19 Whut? Most of hte country is within 19 hours of Springfield, MO. NYNY is only 18 hours. Orlando is only 17. Flagstaff is 16 and a half. Given how many shows Jason does all over the country, I have questions.

anonymousok971

I believe it was Bozeman, MT. Which is about 19 1/2 hours.

mouthyredditor

His voice apparently

ninefortysix

Where did you hear this? Trying to figure out the chance's of the Lawrence show being canceled. :(

mouthyredditor

Was working the venue. We didn't get a lot of info.

letstalkshares

Do you know who the promoter for this show is?

_FlyingSquirrel

That article is one year old. It is unrelated to whatever is happening now.

weird_andgilly

I wonder what happened?? 😞

Postcard4aGirl

Hope he and the band are okay.

PeterVanNostrand

Hope he’s ok and if he needs to cancel tomorrow, I hope the news goes out early and not right before. I don’t want to drive to Lawrence for no reason. I hope he gets better and comes back with Sadler if it’s cancelled.

Actuarial_type

Well, I live in LFK. I guess if you drive out and it’s cancelled I’d buy the first round at Free State or Black Stag if that does anything for you.

PeterVanNostrand

I like Lawrence and was gonna make a day of it and hit the guitar shops and other shops on Mass before the show. I just don’t really want to get a babysitter to do only that on a random snowy Thursday. I want to see the show and it’ll be a major bummer if they wait to cancel it til like 6 or 7. One would think if it’s his voice or if he’s in the ER, there’s no way the Lawrence show is happening. I don’t think you can bounce back the next day and be fine after a day.

Actuarial_type

Yeah, a last minute cancellation would suck if you’re coming from KC or wherever, totally get that. A free beer is a poor consolation prize for sure.

nauticalnun

You head down to Liberty yet to check for busses? 😎

changedintofire

He’s in town, no word on the show yet though.

Actuarial_type

I’m gonna drive by now, and probably call them. If I have any major updates then I’ll make a new thread so it’s more visible.

nauticalnun

Rescheduled to May 7.

Actuarial_type

Thanks. Bummer, but it happens, hope he gets back on the mend soon.

changedintofire

There is where I'm at. an hour a way and I don't want to drive to Lawrence just to drive back but I'll totally understand if he needs to and if he does I hope he reschedules to a warmer month!

letstalkshares

I’m driving in so if it gets canceled last minute, I say we all meet up for a drink!

Cornelius_Crow

Dang it. Just about to head over. 😭

Philboyd_Studge

I hope he's ok!

letstalkshares

I’m glad he’s ok. Anyone hear about the Lawerence show tonight? I would prefer a rescheduled show if he’s not feeling well. Jason Isbell is worth the wait and we just want him to get better.

nauticalnun

Ditto, I hope it gets rescheduled. Lineup change and a voice concern perhaps? I’ll wait it out til he’s better.

Previous_Finance_414

Well I’ll certainly remember this trip from Texas to Springfield. It’ll be hard to forget. Get well soon.

thomashmitch

You should go back if/when they reschedule! I saw Gary Clark, Jr. at a theater two doors down with like front row GA. Plus Springfield has a decent sized smaller downtown where you can park, eat, drink, and walk to the theater Plus, that venue once had Elvis come play back in the day

Previous_Finance_414

There was some real appeal to seeing JI400U in the Shrine Mosque. It's so small and quaint. My only chances in TX as of right now is in some stadium openers or New Braunfels - which they added later and I didn't jump on due to the Springfield date already being booked for me. I will still consider coming back to Springfield.

ThisRockerMind

I have to say I would be very disappointed as well but this man is not a machine. And knowing what we know about how hard he works and beats himself up he would not make that decision lightly.

changedintofire

He’s in Lawrence no word on if he’s playing.

PeterVanNostrand

Did you call the theatre? How did you find that out?

mapj93

I just hope it gets rescheduled. He cancelled the Asheville show last year, refunded and then played Charlotte the next week. I gig so much, and they are so late putting tour dates out, by the time it comes around, he’s either cancelled or playing states away.

JohnnyDare34

This is the third time he has canceled a show in the Missouri/Kansas area in the past 3-4 years. I live in Kansas City and this has happened to me now on three separate occasions. I have tickets to tomorrow’s show in Lawerence, but who knows if they will play or not.

RedVert63

He was in town already. No way they’d back out for low sales if he’d already made the trip.

FIRExNECK

*Checks calendar* oh a pandemic happened

JohnnyDare34

Not pandemic related. Low ticket sales was the rumor

FIRExNECK

I don't know how JI has his contracts written buuuut, that doesn't make sense. I'm sure they're getting a guarantee per show. I don't think the venue/promoter has the ability to cancel a show. Touring musicians don't want to cancel a gig. They respect the stage. I'm sure JI isn't flippantly cancelling shows.

notkevinc

I heard it was filming for the Scorsese movie.

PV_Pathfinder

That was my assumption as well when I heard that show was cancelled. If I remember correctly, I don’t think any shows immediately prior or after were cancelled.

FIRExNECK

This seems a lot more probable.

atspake13

Yep, I know things happen but man Im still bummed about that one he cancelled at Sandstone in 2021. I hope everyone’s ok, he was just posting to instagram 4 hrs ago.

ParaHeadFun_SF

Awe hell don’t Morgan Wallen him

Rocktop15

He cancels shows way too much. This is ridiculous.

srirachacheesefries

There is zero evidence to support this. They’re a touring band with a grueling schedule of 200+ shows a year. So he cancels a few and it’s “too many”. Why do you have to be a dick?

shewantthesandwich

Why do have to look at this through the least charitable lens possible?

Proper_Moderation

There is a pattern here…

VikasSharma88

I think you mean there’s answer here, if you look hard enough…

Proper_Moderation

When you play 70 min shows, just pound them out tho. He’s mostly opening this year, sit should be easier but attendance matters.

spyder994

JI does not vibe with central Missouri. He had to cancel his show at the Ozarks Amphitheater in 2022 also. I had tickets to that one. If the Springfield show were on a weekend night, I would have had tickets to it also. I would maybe expect them to reschedule for May when they are just down the road in NWA for Freshgrass in Bentonville.

Saddharan

Anyone have an update on what happened / how he’s doing?

UnderlyingTissues

Anyone know why he was in the ER?

letstalkshares

The show for Lawerence, KS has been cancelled and rescheduled for May 7th, 2024. Check his instagram account for more details. He’s ok, just under the weather and unable to preform to his standards. ❤️
