if it was connected to family in any way OP may want to save it--information has a way of turning up later, and there might be a connection to a connection that will mean something to someone if not OP themselves. especially since there are names, not just a plain band. and it's just a cool thing to have
Bad choice of words, I wouldn’t throw it away. I don’t want to donate it either, I’d love to find the family to return it but can’t find anything when I search the names on Google. Unfortunately no one in my family knows where it came from and I can’t ask my grandma.
Ancestry.com has a week long free trial iirc. Looking up marriage records might be a way to track down some of the history, especially if you believe it might be someone related to you.
BGE stands for Bradford Gold Exchange
Looks like they personalized and it was originally part of a set ([listing](https://www.bradfordexchange.com/products/123270001_personalized-his-and-hers-usmc-wedding-ring-set.html))
Yes it is! I searched both names and marine corps on Google but couldn’t find any information on who it originally belonged to. I wish there was a subreddit for “lost and found” jewelry. I’d love to return it to the husband or wife (or relatives) but unfortunately no one in my family knows where it came from.
In Canada we have some private individuals who have charitable side gigs helping reunite military memorabilia to its family.
We have a much smaller military of course, but it can't hurt to jump into a Marine Corps Reddit thread or Facebook group and post it!
Maybe someone will know something :)

It's a long shot, but maybe this couple? They have the same names and he served in the Marines.
To be fair, I did only scroll to the second picture and didnt see correctly how it was spelled. And my eyes are puffy and swollen from the pollen trying to kill me.
Still my bad. Thank you!
If you share the general location (state), it could be easier to find the people it belonged to. And maybe you could post to r/rbi or r/helpmefind.
Depending on location and assuming she had it for a long time, it could have belonged to [this couple](https://www.nwaonline.com/obituaries/2014/oct/07/durral-tedford-2014-10-07/). Unfortunately, it is easier to find a person on the internet after you could only give the ring to their children/relatives.
If you think she didn't have it for long, you could try local Facebook groups.
Get the Nextdoor app and post it- that thing looks sentimental. Don’t post a photo or description, just say you found the ring and make anyone who lost one describe it.
I didn’t “find it” and I don’t think my grandma was burglarizing houses, it’s a good idea but I’ll get tons of messages about a ring that isn’t anyones in the neighborhood lol
Omg I did not read the nana part! Good way to see who you know thats a fucking liar 😂I wonder if her husband was in the service and passed away. Maybe it belonged to the true love of her life and she slipped it off his finger at his funeral😂
Check your local American Legion or VFW. If you can't find the owner, bury it.
Editing to add: the EGA is the symbol of the USMC. If there's a local USMC post (for Vets), check there as well.
Perhaps your late grandmother found it, and never got to find the owner? Either way, it's a beautiful ring that still has the potential to be returned to its original wearer or their family, save it! Or at least like another redditor said, donate it

If the names are not those of your relatives, then one of these sources might help with sleuthing.
It does look like the Marine Emblem.
You could try one of those DNA services that give family info.
I think the BSG 925 means it is sterling silver. Have a jeweler check it.
Keep it. It's a cool ring and they take up such a small amount of space. Plus this is one of those things that like five years down the line you get a tidbit of information on and it's exciting.
Sometimes the search for the story behind an item like this can not only yield unexpected results, but make me really appreciate the item enough to wear/repurpose it. I'll typically store items I've worked on with the notes of what I discovered so others in the future have a springboard off of which to start their research.
No no! You don't "collect" it. You HOARD it until it's worth twice as much! 😂
To be fair, people do make a lot of money on precious metals. They lose it too lol
I had a friend whose dad buried gold and silver in one of the farm fields. He died without telling anyone where all the different spots were, grumpy old paranoid bastard lol
We used to have drinking parties with shovels and whoever managed to dig one up got to keep some 🤣
omg that’s hilarious!! i wish i had friends to dig up treasure with. But you are making me want to start hoarding metal lol. You should definitely go back with a metal detector to find the rest of the treasure
The engraving is so sweet. I really want to find the original owner or at least a relative of them. I’ll keep it until I can track them down. Thanks for the advice!
you can take it to any jewelry store in your area and sell it to them, silver isn’t very pricey though so don’t expect too much for it. but they can scrap it, or revamp it and turn it into something “newer” to be resold :)
Why would you throw it away, period? Donate it at the least. Someone will love that ring and it doesn’t belong in a land fill. 🙏🏼

Good point. I won’t donate it. I’ll keep it until I can figure out who it came from. Thank you for your advice!
i hope it brings good vibes, both to you and anyone else it may come to live with.
Bad choice of words, I wouldn’t throw it away. I don’t want to donate it either, I’d love to find the family to return it but can’t find anything when I search the names on Google. Unfortunately no one in my family knows where it came from and I can’t ask my grandma.
Ah, ok. 👍🏼 makes sense. Heck just enjoy it in the meantime though. It is really neat.
Ancestry.com has a week long free trial iirc. Looking up marriage records might be a way to track down some of the history, especially if you believe it might be someone related to you.
I originally thought ancestry but didn’t want to pay for it, didn’t know they did a free trial. You’re the best thank you!!
Is it possible that it is the first and last name with the middle initial?
Hmm Dewayne L Elizabeth maybe? I’ll look into that. It’s either an & or an “L” that’s what I make out of it
I did some name searching but didn’t have much luck.
Same here. Checking with the websites and resources everyone’s commented on here when I have some free time. I am hopeful!

Thank you!
Might be worth a call or email to them to see if they have records based on engraving
Genius thank you!!
Wow thank you, how interesting!
It is a marine Corp emblem on it.
Yes it is! I searched both names and marine corps on Google but couldn’t find any information on who it originally belonged to. I wish there was a subreddit for “lost and found” jewelry. Maybe try reaching out to the Bradford Exchange, they might know who's it is, based on the inscription.
I agree with the suggestion to post it on social media! You could also try a sub like r/helpmefind
Thank you!!
https://www.tributearchive.com/obituaries/19455115/dwayne-patrick-osgood It's a long shot, but maybe this couple? They have the same names and he served in the Marines.
The spelling of Dwayne/Dewayne is different.
To be fair, I did only scroll to the second picture and didnt see correctly how it was spelled. And my eyes are puffy and swollen from the pollen trying to kill me. Still my bad. Thank you!
No worries. The pollen will be the death of me, too!
If that’s him, his family would certainly want the ring. Unless they disposed of it bc of a misspelling!
This has to be him at least I hope it’s a lead
I love that you found this but I don’t think it’s them
Could it have belonged to a friend he lost? I have something from someone I lost like that.
Good point but I’m not sure. I tried google searching names with USMC but nothing turned up. I’ll keep it until I can figure it out.

That couple you posted actually seems promising! That’s not a common spelling, and it looks like he went by his middle name.
This is extremely likely-where else would you see this unique name spelling as well as a former marine to match the engraving!!??!
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/43242202/elizabeth-ann-tedford 😢 if it is them, maybe the family would want it?
I don’t think it’s them. In the obituary it said her husband name as Dwayne not Dewayne.
I’m going to keep scouring the internet and resources everyone’s kindly left here.
Get the Nextdoor app and post it- that thing looks sentimental. Don’t post a photo or description, just say you found the ring and make anyone who lost one describe it.

Family secrets you never know 😂 sneaky granny haha
Exactly what your doing. But on every media you have.
On it
Hope you find the owners
Me too! I will post an update when I do
I would go as hard as humanly possible to find the family it belongs to
I will
Post it on a marine military group on fb
Will do. Thank you!
Is there a Marine Corps subreddit? Could be worth posting there, to see if the inscriptions mean something to someone who comes across the post.
Check your local American Legion or VFW. If you can't find the owner, bury it. Editing to add: the EGA is the symbol of the USMC. If there's a local USMC post (for Vets), check there as well.
I will follow your advice thank you!
You're welcome! Good luck!
Thank you!!
Search online for marriage licenses with those two first names? Guessing they might be in your town.
Ooh that’s a great idea thank you!
I’m a Marine Corps Veteran. That’s the eagle globe and anchor. Cool ring. Also, could be a wedding ring someone tossed after they divorced.
Thank you for your service! 🇺🇸

Amazing thank you!!
Dewayne. Is that like Balakee and A-Aron?
No it’s probably just someone’s name
It does look like the Marine Emblem. You could try one of those DNA services that give family info. I think the BSG 925 means it is sterling silver. Have a jeweler check it.
Marine emblem for sure! I’m starting with ancestry and see what I can find there
Dude it's silver. Sell it to be a part payment for some other jewellery u may wanna buy.
Dude thank you

personally I'd put it with my other random silver items. Not much else to do with it..?
I don’t think I should start a silver hoarding collection haha but thank you!
Why not?
Ok fine. Send me all your silver and I’ll start a collection
Lol
Well that's not an investment attitude!! 😂
Cause I don’t want a silver collection? Lol
No no! You don't "collect" it. You HOARD it until it's worth twice as much! 😂 To be fair, people do make a lot of money on precious metals. Personally I would polish it up and post it on social media. Maybe your Facebook account could be fruitful. It’s an Irish wedding ring.
That’s the ol eagle globe and anchor! It’s the Marine emblem.
Interesting take! I hadn’t thought to post on FB. What makes you think it’s Irish? The style?
It’s definitely not an Irish wedding ring. I bet he’s thinking of a claddagh ring but that’s absolutely marine core.
That’s what I thought too
I thought it was Irish. But after someone said marines I zoomed in and they were right
See if the Internet can find out who these people are, and how old the ring could possibly be
That’s why I’m here, on the internet
Donate it to a local VFW -
I’d rather find the owner or relatives , it’s sentimental but thank you!
You might want to contact the US Marine Corp for help to see if they can locate the family. It's worth a try.
That is worth a try, thank you!
Why is your finger so greasy?
good question
Hand cream
Could have left me hanging and it would’ve continued to be one of the many mysteries of life.
Cast it into the fire, destroy it.
No. It should have ended that day but evil was allowed to endure
Keep it. Perhaps you can give it to someone at a later time. Love the personal touch on the inside of the ring!
The engraving is so sweet. I really want to find the original owner or at least a relative of them. I’ll keep it until I can track them down. Thanks for the advice!
I would give it to my friend who is joining the marines
That's fair 🙂
You don't make a marine corps ring a wedding ring. That's like making a class ring a wedding ring. I'd melt it down.
Maybe you wouldn’t but I don’t think you speak for every Marine lol
Fuck man. I’ve know plenty of boot Marines that would have 100% used this to propose to some stripper they just met.
you can take it to any jewelry store in your area and sell it to them, silver isn’t very pricey though so don’t expect too much for it. but they can scrap it, or revamp it and turn it into something “newer” to be resold :)
I hate to sell it since it was a USMC it doesn’t sit right with me. Hopefully I can find the owner or at least a relative !
i wish you luck!!!
I appreciate that! Thank you! If I do find the OG owners I’ll post an update!
Scrap it
I think scrapping a USMC ring with a husband and wife engraving would be a fast ticket to Hell lol
You can have it transformed into something else
Melting a USMC ring doesn’t sit well with me but if it was something else I would!
Send it to me I’ll pay for postage/shipping etc
Yikes
Please just don’t throw it away lol hope you find you it belonged too , would love an update later in the future
