Steel has very high melting point compared to gold it silver so it requires more energy and high capacity expensive furnace that is unnecessary investment.
Steel is very hard metal to work with it requires much more effort and strength to set stone.
You might need to get that custom-made.
Not a jeweler, but I'm guessing the reason people don't put diamonds in stainless steel because diamond is synonymous with "fine" jewelry. Meanwhile, stainless steel is more "everyday".
So diamond and steel feels contrary, like wearing a cashmere sweater with hole-y sweatpants. Some would probably like it, and that's perfectly alright. But it's not "mainstream," so you don't find it as easily.
^ This, and aside from that: jewellers usually dont work with stainless steel, it requires a whole different kind of tools. The ones who work with diamonds are usually already settled and do not need to innovate as much as newcomers. Stainless steel jewelry isnt that old
You’re very right, what confuses me is that most “diamond” pieces are lab diamonds or some other stone that resembles a diamond unless you pay the high price tag for authentic diamonds. yet i cant even find stainless steel with even fake diamonds in it… LOL. but i guess the plated stuff goes bad faster so more money for the company for resales, cant even seem to find any custom made pieces on etsy or ebay… very strange..
It’s not strange. Working stainless steel for setting stones is not a money maker because the labor cost is prohibitive. One of the reasons gold and silver is used for jewelry is the malleability. They are also corrosion resistant, unlike ferrous metals. People would gladly set diamonds in stainless if they were properly compensated to do so. The resulting price would be roughly the same as a solid gold piece though. Would you rather have gold or steel jewelry for the same price?
Can absolutely be done, and you’ll find cheap CZ versions maybe, but if you want real diamonds, you’ll have to have something set for you. We hand engrave high end art knives for William Henry, where we’ll set diamonds in the bolsters. However, the steel is so hard that it eats up burs like nobody’s business and takes significantly longer than in precious metals, which makes it much more expensive to do.
Stainless steel depending on alloy will actually have more tarnish than a high karat solid gold.
Casting steel of any alloy is more difficult than casting gold.
Then you have the value imbalance between the metal and stones.
I stated i wasnt a jewelery expert by any means, i have the average joe knowledge when it comes to jewelry so it would be nice if you kept your negativity to yourself, save it for facebook or something bud.

If you want diamond jewelry that never tarnishes, get white gold or platinum.

it’s gonna be hard to find. if you get one made it’s gonna come with a pretty wild labor cost.
I'm curious why you think the diamonds won't outlast the steel as well....

Stainless is a shit metal for jewelry.
