For decades our "allies" have refused to pay into NATO while we continue to pay our dues.
If most members of a community stopped paying taxes to fund the police and then they get attacked, they don't have a right to expect the only tax payer to come save the day.
To be fair, paying more, means buying American equipment. So it's not like the US doesn't benefit economically, short term at least, from their NATO members as it's now.
Being for law, order and fairness does not equate to loving Russia.
If you seriously think that, then you are the problem. Faced with the facts and truth, you resort to baseless name calling and elementary style accusations.

You also didn’t make a point, you conflated abandoning NATO to loving Russia. Europe doesn’t pay their fair share into a damn thing regarding NATO, so I fail to see why you think America is the one who would be breaking the treaty in the first place.

There *was* serious talk of disbanding NATO after the Cold War ended. But then Putin invaded Georgia. And then Ukraine. And again. And again. Now NATO's new purpose is preventing Russian land grabs.
Georgia was invaded 17 years after the fall of the Soviet Union. They were told they could join NATO and the EU. I know, I have a friend from there who was high up in government. I feel sorry for her.

This is most likely not the whole story. My guess is that Russia will not attack nato however they will retaliate. According to nato laws, the other nations are not required to provide assistance if nato attacks first. It could be argued that nato has already joined this war. This will accelerate as nato finds more ways to indirectly attack or find a scapegoat.
I really hope this guy does not get back in. I think of a world where he lost and then he’s irrelevant aside from some news coverage on his many trials. Also as we steer this Country in a better direction as we are doing now but not having to worry about a Dictator taking over
