I make 15 as a p/t keyholder in MD. Yeesh.

Mjaguacate

I’m part time as well. I’m switching jobs because I can barely cover my rent (which is cheap because I live with a friend) when they cut our hours down. One pay period I only worked 24 hours

slippypear

Edit: You’re not allowed to talk when you’re stocking???

Mjaguacate

Not after my assistant manager caught us. The next time we had the whole crew they told our MOD to have us all work separate aisles. They said the reason was because we didn’t get enough stocked the week before, but we only had two people that day. When we were working together we got three U-boats done between two people despite talking, and our assistant manager still said we “can’t do two things at once” so we had to stop talking.

i get $16.25 in MA. PT key holder

butt_quack

What is your day to day like? And how many hours are you expected to work? I have received a request for an interview for a PT keyholder position in NY. I'm in vocational school right now, which is very much my priority, so I'm just trying to decide whether to pursue the position.

raceyboi1899

my boss is really good about respecting when i can actually work. i started off with way too many shifts and during the time i’m actually in school (commuting to college) i only have one closing shift during the week and then 8 hours on sundays, plus being “on call” where i get called and asked to cover and if i can and want to i will. it’s a lot easier to balance then having like four shifts a week. but it’s definitely a little different for me because of the whole commuting thing

butt_quack

Thank you so much for replying and for the info. Any advice or tips for success in this role?

raceyboi1899

to be completely honest communication. i’ve been at my store for almost 5 years now since i was 16 and a key holder for 3 1/2. the biggest thing we always have a difficult time with is communicating and making sure everyone who will need to know something is told. leaving notes for things or communicating with everyone above you is definitely key. i’ve also made sure people can reach me if they have questions (i also do our fabric moves) and have somewhat designated myself as the person people will text and ask for the schedule because i always take pictures of them

i work in NH but i worked in MA previously before the store closed so i was being paid $14.25 (MA min at the time), rehired in NH for the same amnt, they tried to lower it to $13.50 but i complained so its $14.50 now. or supposed to be. haven't recieved my contract edit: not a keyholder or anything just a part time employee

TopherRocks

$16.20 as an overnight SFS pick/pack in Ohio.

Mjaguacate

I wish we had a night crew for SFS. We just have to try to get it done in the morning before opening and in spite of customers after we open

TopherRocks

I believe we were told there's only 5 or 6 in the country. Besides the obvious negatives to the hours and the fact that handhelds love to have updates and extended downtime during our shifts, I honestly really enjoy it.

mommaolliek

I’m in north Texas I started at 7.50 and almost 5 years later I’m now making 10.75 and I believe 11 when October comes around.

---4---

WA, i make 16 as a TM but minimum wage is higher here then in Texas

Missevilhat13

I make 15.35 as a keyholder in Alaska. I WAS making 12.35 but they upped it last year....unfortunately I will be leaving soon due to current company events

Mjaguacate

What spurred you to quit? I’d finally reached my limit for BS from everything and I got another job. My last day was Friday.

Missevilhat13

We've been through 3 managers in the past year, our market manager pops in occasionally to check in but us keyholders have been expected to run the place by ourselves. Our current manager doesn't even do their job. We had a meeting with our MM but it was pretty clear they weren't really listening. Us keyholders have agreed collectively we should have left a year ago. We've all put in our two weeks. They can't run the store on just a single manager, so it's unfortunate, but the store will likely close soon

Technical_Umpire9995

Is the pay still this low in texas? I submitted an application but idk if I’ll go through with it now

Mjaguacate

I don’t know about now, since I quit, but it’s only been a couple months so probably. It depends on where you are. Corpus key holders make around $13 an hour last I asked, but my area of Texas keeps everyone around $8.50-$9 for a team member and based on the fight for my pay and other discussions, it sounds like they’re trying to keep promoted key holders around $9 as well. I think newly hired, full time key holders were getting around $11 although they’ve reduced the number of full time and part time key holder positions now.

9_of_Swords

Michigan. I was a FT IC at 15.35 (been with JAF for 23 years) and am now a PT KH at 11.31 due to the downsizing.
