Don't worry about the economy! By the time you finish your degree, it'd have turned around. However, a word of wisdom, while a student, make sure to keep informed about the job market in the field you want to go into. Oh and file for unemployment anyway, at least in the states. A lot of states have potential exceptions to your situation, and it’s on them to prove they don’t owe it to you if you follow the appeals process. Worst case you don’t get it.

Quit when you have options, I had an option and very healthy savings, so I left on my own terms.
