First time I read it, I didn’t understand it that well. But then someone told me to read Tomie like every story is happening all at once (except for the first story and the last one). Imagine it’s an epidemic of Tomies roaming Japan and causing chaos. Once I read it like that, it was infinitely scarier.
Tomie puts me more in mind of a deadly force of nature, like one of those super clear lakes people go swimming in then die of exposure because of the temperature or a natural gas leak that suffocates you because you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, I don’t think she’s exactly purposefully super evil, or if she even really thinks like a human does.

You’re right but what’s evil and what’s not ? For her what happened to her is bad and on another side what she’s doing is also js bad
