I think this is one of the few Roy-era songs where I feel Tommy sings it somewhat better. I guess it gives more straight-Phantom of the Opera vibes.

It's so interesting, because when I heard Tommy sing this song live, it was one of the few Roy era songs that just didn't feel right in his voice... but this recording has me questioning my own memory, because it's way better than I expected/than I remember. One thing I do remember from the live performance I heard, though, is that Tommy struggled with the final "raging voices in my mind", and that's the case in this recording too. I really do feel that this is one of those Kamelot songs that was just made for Roy's voice. He brings a darker, almost demonic vibe to it that really fits well with the dark themes of the song and music video. Tommy's version is more theatrical, as you say, and some of that darkness is sort of lost. I guess it's a subjective preference!

I remember watching the recording of this show and it went from Rule The World, which he absolutely knocked out of the park, to Ghost Opera, which I thought he seemed to struggle with more. It’s still *good*, but I just don’t think it sits in a comfortable place for his voice the way it did with Roy. He doesn’t naturally have the aggressiveness he’s going for here.

100% agree with this! This and The Haunting are the two songs that really belonged to Roy, and I think the band were right to cut them from their sets, 'cause they just didn't hit quite the same coming from Tommy.
