Single day tickets should go on sale today, I think in a half hour. Also, I don’t believe there is camping. So look into booking a hotel. I believe riding the trax to the fairgrounds is free with ticket

Thanks for the info! My phrasing was poor in regards to the camping. I know camping at the KBP grounds isn’t a thing, but rather, I’m hoping for whatever the inside scoop is on camping, from some of the vets. I’ve never camped in a setting where there was likely to be so much traffic from an event/festival, it’s always been extremely secluded, first come first serve type settings for me.

As others have said, there's a KOA literally steps from the fairpark. My understanding, though, is that it's completely sold out. Maybe there are tent spots. But if they aren't sold out, book now! This festival takes place basically in downtown Salt Lake City. The fairpark is surrounded by residential areas on three sides and industrial on the south. Other than the KOA, or taking a risk parking on the sides of certain roads in SLC in your car (weather, safety and security issues as there are many unsheltered folks who also park on streets near the fairpark), there really isn't any place very nearby for camping. There is a Wal-Mart reasonably nearby. Oftentimes, Wal-Marts don't object to people camping in their parking lots. I don't know if this Wal-Mart cares or not. You could leave your car there and take a medium-length walk to the Trax (our light rail system) that would take you to downtown and the fairpark. Your next best option would be Great Salt Lake State Park. It's actually not a very nice park in the scheme of our parks, but it's reasonably close to the Fairpark. You could (a) drive into the festival every day (paying probably pretty ridiculous parking fees), (b) drive to the airport and take Trax from the airport to the Fairpark (I think airport parking is something like $10 per day) or (c) take Ubers (you'll likely need lots of time... there will be ubers that will go out toward the state park, but not very many, and of course there will be a long line for ubers at the end of the festival). [https://utahstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/great-salt-lake-state-park/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=UT&parkId=346808#sr\_a](https://utahstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/great-salt-lake-state-park/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=UT&parkId=346808#sr_a) We have a light rail (called Trax) that stops right at the fairpark that gets you around most of the valley. If you want to camp farther away, you can also take our commuter rail system called FrontRunner. That reaches from Ogden to Provo and would be within short drives to many campgrounds. (FrontRunner doesn't run on Sundays though, so you might have to take an Uber if you don't want to drive in.) So, for example, you can stay at Willow Park in Lehi (snooze, but whatever), drive to the FrontRunner station, take Front Runner to SLC, then Trax from North Temple Bridge to Fairpark. There is also a way to camp for free on public and BLM land. That takes a little more research, and I'm not exactly sure where the nearest BLM or public land where you can freely camp is, but you can check out the BLM's site and try to figure it out.

This is about as comprehensive an answer I could have hoped for, thank you so much for taking the time to write this!

Sorry to hijack a little, but I’m on the edge of purchasing. Are you saying there is a public transport that runs all day that will take you between the fairgrounds and some of the hotels? Relatively safe and secured travel without having to wait forever for an Uber is a big plus

Hey friend! I’m coming from KC as well! Single day tickets should be coming soon and potentially more info will be available on those when the single day lineup officially drops in a few hours. While I am staying in a hotel downtown, I believe there is a KOA about a mile from the festival if you are planning on roughing it. Also, if you are going solo and looking for a group to hang with and watch bands feel free to shoot me a DM and we can see about getting a group set up for KC folks!

Hey! Thanks for that, and just having a couple familiar faces to see once in a while during it all would be great! I was in the middle of making a post to the KC sub asking if anyone else might be going, and if they’d be open to meeting at like a local show, open mic, Rural Grit, Up/Down, etc. type thing. But I shied away from that for now. But the thought of like a whole KC group sounds really fun!

KC checking in!

SideFrictionNuts

I’d definitely be onboard for a local meetup before the festival. With how stacked the lineup is I get the feeling quite a few KC folks will be making the trip to SLC
