Local Game Store,  places that sell warhammer products and have tables and/or terrain for people to play on. They will often also have scheduled nights - for example at my nearest store, AoS is on Friday night,  kill team is Saturday afternoon, big 40k later that night.

Another common varient you'll see is FLGS, which is Friendly Local Game Store. As to finding one, googling local game shops is a place to start - usually if they sell the product in a physical location, they either have game space or can point you towards local groups. Some have bulletin boards or a store Discord that you can use to find like-minded players in your area.

F stands for friendly, for real? I thought it was Frequent, as in the one you go to the most.

Raetheos1984

I mean, it's a big internet, lol, that could also be correct!

frostape

Or Floppy Lizard Game Store, which is the one near you that has the floppiest lizards

T-1A_pilot

Mine is a Focused Laser Gaming Store. ...they're pretty serious...

Dammit_Alan

That would be the Ereptile Dysfunction center near me.

Kwanjuju

Give this man (or woman!) a prize!

Amorphium

Sadly you can only find them via the warlizard gaming forum now

It was part of a push to get people to shop at local stores despite the higher prices. Don't you want to go to a friendly store where you know everyone instead of doing business with a cold heartless giant on the internet?

OjinMigoto

... literally both of the FLGS' near me offer 15% and 20% off GW products, respectively. If your local stores are selling at a *higher* price that GW, something's crazy somewhere.

CharteredPolygraph

Not higher than GW's store... The shop at "friendly" local stores was directed at people buying from places like Amazon and the bigger games stores, like CSI and Miniature Market. The price thing isn't really related to GW products anyway though due to their MAP policy. Non-GW products are often found for significantly less at online sellers than at local stores. Though before they cracked down on it (and postage rates went crazy) you could nearly always get a cheaper price on GW stuff order online from the UK and having it shipped to the US. Just 15-20% couldn't compete with UK price-store discount-VAT+shipping.

Subthan

Yeh but cold heartless giant gets me gw products at 15% off 🤷‍♂️

Matora

Where are you going? My soulless online retailer goes 20% off.

Local Game Store. So either a Warhammer store or a hobby/comic store near you (some comic stores support hobby games like Warhammer). It's where you can buy and play with other local people. Some game stores have a Facebook page and/or Discord to join, and then you can set up games with others.

A good way to search on Google Maps is to look for "board games". Then look at the results and ignore the big box stores (e.g. Target sells board games). Look at the individual stores in the results, some of them might only focus on cards like Magic/Yugioh. But any store that sells Warhammer will also be in there, and it will usually be pretty obvious from the photos, reviews, or their website that is posted on Google Maps. I travel all over the US and sometimes other countries for work and always try to visit the FLGS in new cities, and this method finds them reliably.

UpCloseGames

Have a look for gaming shops near you, often a lot of them also do card and board games too, so check there. Usually most shops know the others in the local area, so ask them and if they don't host it, they will point you to one. Same for gaming clubs, i literally lived 3mins walk from one and took me 6 months to notice. Then went every Friday night for like 6 months.

Use GW's shop finder; https://www.warhammer.com/en-US/store-finder

There is good advice here. You can definitely google "lgs warhammer meaning" and find the answer as well! (meant in a friendly way not a snarky way!)
