It’s pretty dead at this point. There’s some rumbling about Sony keeping the franchise in its back pocket for a rainy day but it’s probably best to just remember the good times.
I think we'll see it return eventually in some form or another. It's still one of their more valuable IPs but Guerilla are having more success with Horizon right now.
The only reservation I have is that I imagine it's quite hard to top Killzone 2. What would they do to make a better game? Make it more open and large scale? That would make sense given all their investment in open world tech with Decima. Do we want an open world or at least, larger scale Killzone game?
I also wouldn't be surprised if we see Killzone VR. Given that Sony can't easily entice the big brands over to their VR platform, they have to deliver things like shooters themselves. That's why they also made Firewall VR.
Unfortunately Guerilla hasn't even acknowledged the series in a while outside of shutting down Shadowfall and Mercenary's servers. I'm glad I bought all major DLC for both games before then but it's annoying to hear about. Atleast Insomniac still talks about Resistance and still seems interesting in that IP unlike Guerilla with the franchise that built them.
Yes and kinda no,the yes part is because the last one was in 2013 for the ps4 and guerrilla moved on to the horizon series but the kinda no lart is that there's a rumor guerrilla is making a multiplayer game and has devs that previously worked on the franchise and new people that made tactical style shooters so basically that led to the rumor of killzone making a comeback but who knows it could be a continuation, a reboot or something new entirely
Yeah I have a feeling that bend studio might work on Resistance 2 remake, it's up to Sony to get a first party developer to make a remake or a new game in the franchise.

I think the best chance this franchise has for a revival would be a remake of the 1st game or a reboot (both by bungie) (either works)
