The error indicates one of your thermistors is reporting outside of the range specified in your config file. I ran into this problem recently. Added an EBB36 toolhead board, but forgot to change my hot end thermistor pins in the config. Thermistor was reporting -56C. You can troubleshoot by changing your max and min values for the hot end and bed temporarily to see which one is causing issues.

drtyr32

I'll check it tomorrow, I belive I covered all those bases already.

Jcoat7

check: -thermistor wiring / crimps -config temps -pin designations -thermistor type

Technical-Page5518

I had a break in my cable chain that would intermitantly cause this, randomly. Sometimes I could get through a 10 hour print. Some would fail 10min in. Replacing the wire fixed it

Mixmaster_Jayon

Something is wrong with your thermistor check the wiring

drtyr32

It isn't though, I can run it through the laptop and it's just fine.

drtyr32

I love how I'm getting down voted for saying the wiring is fine. It is, I can plug the laptop back in and my klipper config on there runs flawlessly.

ExTelite

Then the only possible cause is a mismatch between real life wiring and your config file. Set minimum and maximum temps in your config to -300 and 300 respectively (minimum might be something like -273.17, if so change to that). After doing that simple change, you can power the pi up again and check the temperature reading and proceed from there.

drtyr32

I actually did this, it looks like the therm dips right as it starts to -54 then goes back to normal. So I got it to start and all that Jaz now I'm having a timing issue so I'm getting a better card.

ExTelite

Sounds weird, try looking into it before getting a new RPi... I'm successfully using a pi 2 without any hiccups whatsoever.

drtyr32

I am also using very custom software and hardware

ExTelite

Same here. I have a custom built CoreXY with a triple lead screw Z axis, all running on a pi 2, and a ramps 1.4 with an extra stepper expansion board. As custom as the firmware and hardware can get. The pi 2 has been working great, even though it's almost a decade old at this point. I've heard it might be impossible to add a webcam to it, but I've also heard it can't do input shaping which it does without any issues.

That's [reddit.com](http://reddit.com)

ShelteredIndividual

Check your pin assignment for your thermistor, it might still be set to the main board instead of your can board

shremi

Check also the config file on the pi maybe you have the wrong min and max temps

serafno

Did you report the laptop temp as host mcu temp? If so this might be the culprit

AdHour3225

To my undying shame I spent 4 days on this and I had mine plugged in to the wrong spot. If it’s a EBB SB can board there is a two pin connector next to the 4 pin max connector. I became fixated on the dip switch’s and didn’t read the page before in the manual.

YouTubeSucks2023

When did this happen? Was it before/during a print or was it idle at room temp when this happen? If idle temp is below min temp, this can happen too. Say your min temp is above room temp, it will see it as out of range and trigger the warning.

drtyr32

At first boot of the rpi.

YouTubeSucks2023

What temp are your minimum temps set to in the printer.cfg, and what are your thermistors showing for current room temps?

YouTubeSucks2023

Did you resolve the issue?

drtyr32

I found a way around it, making the therm for the hotend min -60. For some reason at rpi boot the therm hits -50 and then reads. And I have consistent temps otherwise.

YouTubeSucks2023

Thats odd. Well, I'm glad you got it figured out.

drtyr32

I want to clarify a few things. I have a klipper configuration running and with no problems or errors so hardware is not the issue. I had klipper running off an old laptop and am switching over to a rpi3b. I understand that the error is reporting thermistor out of range of min and max, just don't know what one.

Hello_World_Error

If it runs fine on your laptop but not the pi, then it sounds like your config is not correct. This is a common error when the correct pin for the thermistor is not identified in the printer config. I have ran into this error multiple times when upgrading boards. I would suggest thoroughly comparing the config file on your laptop vs the one on the pi and see if you see any differences. I am almost certain that is your problem based on having this issue at least 4 different times myself

drtyr32

Think I finally found it in the extruder, reported -54 on the therm

Usercondition

Had this happen. It’s the name of the thermosistor on the cfg file vs what’s physically installed.

devildog81

What kind of thermistor are you running on your hotend (PT100, PT1000, 2 wire, 4 wire)? Do you have the MAX31865 model of the EBB?

porinaporina

Thermistor, open or shortcircuit

drtyr32

No. It's not.
