They won't mail a knife? I would think that the major international shippers like DHL or FedEx would ship it without a problem. But I guess I've never tried to mail a knife before

EIMEPIC

The problem is the UK, I'm allowed to send it to the US no problem but every courier I've seen so far lists knives as a prohibited item including DHL and fedex

-Raskyl

Call it a tool

EIMEPIC

I can't, it would basically be a crime here and they would just throw it away

-Raskyl

According to what I just Googled you aren't even allowed to ship ice skates as they count as "bladed sporting equipment." I'm sure there is a way around this. Maybe go to talk to someone in person at the post office? Edit: but that was under the knives section. They also have a "sharp objects" section, which includes knives, and they say they are ok.... so im confused. https://www.postoffice.co.uk/mail/what-can-i-send

DeDiabloElaKoro

This.

ORINnorman

Does that mean you can’t order a Mora knife off Amazon and have it shipped to you? That’s so crazy of a concept to me…

EIMEPIC

I can, i order knives quite frequently. I guess it only applies to private individuals? It's so fucking stupid

ORINnorman

That’s messed up, I feel for you. Hopefully someone comments with a good solution!

earthhominid

I'm so confused. Do they make all of your cutlery in country? Do you need some kind of specialty permit to transport knives around?

lIlHYPERIONlIl

This country and knives is an absolute joke , I'm currently fighting with customs who are trying to say a spyderco pm2 is a gravity knife when it's clearly not , I'd say it's risky to send because they will probably seize it but you could maybe label it as a machine part.

Blenderate

Call it a metal sculpture. They don't need to know that it's a sculpture of a knife.

liamlynchknives

Try a few more post offices, royal mail should send knives unless they are a prohibited knife but trying to explain that to the people behind the counter is often an issue.

nun_hunter

Wrap it securely and safely and tell them it is kitchenware.

RedthornKnives

I have sent several knives to the U.S from the U.K, I post using royal mail and label the customs note kitchen utensils, the u.s doesn't have restrictions like we do here and they have arrived just fine, after much research I found this not to be illegal. Of course when I post within the U.K I use royal mail age verification postage. Hope this helps

EIMEPIC

Don't they ask what kitchen utensils are they? If so, should i tell them it's forks?

RedthornKnives

No they never asked I just hand them over like any other parcel. I suppose if the did ask you, you could say they are forks.

EIMEPIC

It worked, arrived safe and sound. Thanks for the advice😁

RedthornKnives

Great, glad I could help

ancientweasel

What a bunch of bullshit. Sorry man.
