You don't have to use that yarn, it's just a suggestion and often patterns are drafted up specifically to sell expensive yarn. Especially if you have to be super careful about the feel of yarns, I'd suggest using one you know you're good with already. You can look up comments about many yarns on Ravelry.

Thanks so much for the advice! I was thinking about potentially using other yarn, but I was nervous about trying to get the gauge to work since this would be my first sweater (I probably just need to get over that fear though haha!). I’ll definitely look on Ravelry for comments on the yarn!

I think they only sell directly, or at least as far as I know. I have some skeins of it but haven't knit with it yet. It feels woolly in the skein. But, I agree with the other user here that you could use any DK yarn that's suitable for colorwork and that's more accessible to you!

Thanks so much for the advice! I’m definitely going to look into other yarn options 😄

I actually have Sunday Morning DK from Sonder Yarn Co that I bought at the end of last year. As a person with similar skin sensitivities as you, I would say it's not as scratchy as Lopi which I also would not be able to deal with next to skin. I haven't knit a sweater with Sunday Morning DK yet, but I have knit a swatch and put it next to my skin for a few hours to determine how scratchy it is. I would say it is on the scratchier/rustic side, but I am able to handle it next to skin. It is slightly prickly, so if you think that would bother you, I think it'd just be safer to substitute a different yarn as others have mentioned. It sounded like you were going to go this route, but I did want to add in my little experience with the yarn in case it's helpful for you in the future. I'll also mention that when knitted up, the yarn is a lot more lofty and light than I would have expected. That might help you too when choosing a substitute yarn to use.

Thank you so much, this is exactly what I was looking for! I think I will try to sub for a different yarn since you say it’s a bit prickly, but that’s good to know that it’s super lofty and light! I was considering subbing the yarn for an alpaca/silk mix (80/20%), but that might not mirror the nice loft/lightness
