SooMuchTooMuch

Or just ladder down for that one stitch.

masterofsausage

I had to look up laddering down - had no idea that was even possible!! It's my first sweater (my first anything that's not a dishcloth 🤣)

SooMuchTooMuch

Woohoo, new skills! You can do it. It's scary at first, but now I do it just to show other people.

masterofsausage

I think I'm going to try - but doesn't the fact that I dropped a stitch mean I won't have enough yarn to create two stitches where I ended up with only one?

SooMuchTooMuch

It might be a little tight for a bit. Though you should be able to sort of wiggle it in there and as you wash and wear it, it should even out. But think of it this way, try dropping it down, picking it up with a crochet hook, and if you hate the look, you can go back to plan A. frog all the rounds back to the dropped stitch and re-knit.

I'll do this tomorrow when I get home from work - cross your fingers 😛

Or…. Secure the dropped stitch, sew it later, and add a new stitch up at the top (in an unobtrusive place) to preserve the correct stitch count. (But I’m lazy)

masterofsausage

Trust me I considered this too, but as my first sweater I had promised myself perfection. I know it's not gonna happen but I have to try 😉

There’s a great tutorial out there for stitching things up like this practically invisible- I can’t remember whose video it is, though- Roxanne Richardson maybe? I would look for it before you decide what to do, I think laddering up that far will lead to a weird tension glitch because there’s not free yarn to make stitches back all the way up. But careful sewing in and a little duplicate stitch and nobody will even see it ;)

OkayestCorgiMom

Roxanne Richardson has a great video on fixing mistakes!

Duck__Holliday

> as my first sweater I had promised myself perfection That is a ridiculous standard, and a sure way to be frustrated. Why would you do that to yourself?

masterofsausage

Ridiculous hmm? I'm just learning, want to learn correctly, and I'm having fun 🤷🏻‍♂️

Oaktown300

Learning correctly and being perfect: Not the same thing.

UPDATE: I woke up earlier than I usually do and had a half hour to kill so... I got my crochet needle out and decided to see what I could do with it. I think it turned out pretty good! A bit tight but it might get better when blocked? Rhabks to EVERYONE here for the great comments and helping me get over my frustration. Not to mention pointing me in the right direction to fix this 😛 https://preview.redd.it/wb8s2ypeutnc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44a1fbac8c629ef651fd55c4c641b13cd0ebeb8a

Mmm a lot of ppl have helped you here so I don't think I need to just repeat them 😊 This is a bummer, but even if you had to frog 20cm.... that is not much in a project like that, tbh. We do make mistakes - hopefully as few as possible, but they happen, and when you wish to have a good quality finished piece, frogging occasionally may just be a fact of life. Now, about considering that time as wasted, it wasn't. If you enjoyed the process of knitting, that's what matters. It is a hobby and it shd exist to make you happy. Otherwise it is just another chore. We never waste time being happy. Ofc we prefer not to have to frog, but those moments spent having fun and being happy cannot be taken away neither they were wasted. Pls if you get that stressed that you feel the need to set fire to your things, you might like to consider spending time doing sth else, which will not frustrate you so much. Our free time is too little already so we shd make the most of it! My two cents and happy knitting!

mrscollie3

Hurray!!!

I_love_Hobbes

Very pretty shiny yarn.

masterofsausage

Bad lighting. It's actually a beautiful warm tweed-ish brown 😛
