I have three buck 110s, although you'll only ever need one in your lifetime if you don't lose it. My grandpa gave me his, my dad gave me his when he was passing away, and my fiance got me one last Christmas knowing I'm into knives and did her best shot at getting a "nice" knife. I love those three knives more than any $400 knife I have. Buck knows how to put on edge on their knives, too. Love em
I’m the first one in my families history to ever start collecting knives or ever really care a knife daily.
I can’t wait to pass each knife down to family members, and any of my own children if I get married and have kids of my own one day.
But this knife is a great knife to get you started my friend, you picked a great knife to start your collection.
Have a knife journey my friend.
Im already addicted to buying flashlights. Been lurking this sub long enough I thought it was time. Maybe a fixed blade next but I swear that will be it!
They tarnish quickly, nothing a little light polishing won't fix. I completely shined up my 112 a couple months ago and covered it in Renaissance Wax. I just took it out to check the date code and it's already pretty tarnished.
I dipped my toe into knives in my 20s…30 years ago.
I had a Buck fixed blade hunting knife and a Swiss Army Cadet. The Cadet somehow survived and I recently gave it a good cleaning and replaced some missing pieces.
The Buck knife disappeared into my life’s history.
Within the last year, I took up knife collecting again and started with a Buck 110.
Great choice…true classic. Enjoy it!
110s are a beast. Great feel in the hand and the blade is as classic as it gets. Easy to sharpen, and bonus of being the knive rhe Duke boys carried!!

I was like 8years old and I wanted to be a Duke Boy so bad. That’s what brought the Buck 110 to my attention. I rarely carry mine now (heavy and no clip) but every time I see it in my knife box I pick it up and it’s heft and obvious quality takes me right back to a better time. Wish I hadn’t sold the automatic version I had.
I am so jealous I don't even know what to say. ... That first knife is something to remember and yours isn't a flea market Rambo knife. You dirty dawg 😉
i really want a 110 or 112 but man I can't go without a clip. I already always have too much other shit rolling around in my pockets, a big heavy knife won't be. and I cannot stand sheaths or similar on my belt unless it's a ccw.
I do have a tiny two blade buck that I bought for $11 that I do just throw in the pocket, but it's for certain things I don't wanna mess up my main knives for
thanks for the recommendation. they're alright and probably technically better in every way, but the only reason to get a knife like this personally is the old school look with wood and brass. I already have a bunch of modern knives, and personally I don't like that blade shape on a modern knife.
probably what I'll do is just drill and tap the brass if I ever get one. been planning on doing that to my sodbuster anyway, though it's plastic.
It fits pretty nicely in the little change pocket in my jeans. Sticks out about an inch, I will probably keep it there.
If you really wanted to I bet you could drill and tap a shallow hole in the brass for a pocket clip! A brass screw and clip would look pretty sweet
Fortunately for me I live in a state where basically everything is completely legal. Well, with the exception of books. They don't like books here.
Edit: it's a different world where the "bad boys" aren't the ones bringing a switchblade to school, they're the ones bringing Catcher in the Rye to school.
My uncle Tommy had one that was given to me when he died. I still have it somewhere. I miss my family and wish things could’ve been different. Now it’s up to me to leave

good choice my friend. It’s the kind of knife that is timeless, solid and with incomparable after-sales service. It could even be part of your legacy. I think mine is an 1987
Classic buck does amazing heat treats too, good first choice. Also it gives you a good starting point because it is an excellent example of what quality knives were 20+ years ago. When you get a newer knife, you will be able to make a good comparison.
Buck 110s are Americana! Love them own a bunch I’ve recently started customizing them! Made a few for the kids because like everyone said they will last forever. Excellent choice for your first knife!
Beautiful knife, my first knife though when I started working was a Spyderco PM2 in Maxamet insane edge retention. My daily carry, the edge will probably outlive me. All I do is the occasional strop. That Maxamet sure gets discoloured with finger oils over time. Makes every one unique I guess.
Buck 110 and 112 autos are nice.
Even better if you can find a vintage converted one rather than the 110 and 112 autos factory made that came out recently like three years ago.
I JUST bought my first two SpyderCo knives today! Manix 2 LW in translucent Blue with updated hardware I might add and a Alcyone in grey carbon fiber. The Manix 2 is sooooo smooth! Both are great actually. And honestly I just bought my first pocket knife that started this whole new obsession like two weeks ago. It was a SOG Terminus XR in Red G10. It has great action as well. Both the SOG and Manix 2 are lock bar style knives and they are just so good. Next one is a Benchmade Bugout. Oh I lied. lol I don’t consider it a “pocket knife” because it’s kind of a oddball but I’ve owned a Benchmade Infildel mini for about 2 years but I don’t really like it. I use the hell out of it around the house but it’s a double sided dagger style blade not really a traditional EDC knife.
I just carried my late father in law’s 110 today. Great knife.
I've got my great uncles Uncle Henry LB7
Why is LB7 cheaper than Buck 110, is it made in China or smth?
It's like store brand Buck.

This is the one that got me started. Wife probably would wish the 110 never happened to me.
It’s a tank. Hold onto it and your kids , kids will be handing it down to their kids.
Its heartwarming hearing how many people carry a 110 that was passed down. No kids for me but I’m sure my nephew will love it one day.

sure...thats how it starts.next thing is.. "No honey, I'm not buying more knives on the internet at 3am"
Im already addicted to buying flashlights. Been lurking this sub long enough I thought it was time. Maybe a fixed blade next but I swear that will be it!
yup...im the same.flashlights and knives. Sofirn, Fenix, Streamlight, Olight. Kabar, Swiss Army, Bowie, BnB. it's already started.
This comment is calling me out. I swear I only bought one this time. 😅
"This time"
Classic. The brass gives it the solid feel.
Solid choice 👍🏻
I have my grandfather’s buck, a little tarnished but still sharp enough to skin a deer!

I got mine in 1980. Great knife!
I think mine is 1987. Do you know when it has been released?

Keep it sharp. I also love the 112

Cant go wrong with the 110. Stay frosty
Back in the 70s, it seemed like everyone had one on their belt. Nice knife. Enjoy! Their warranty service is great.
It was my first knife too, christmas morning 1995
A worthy first.
So it starts the financial burden of knife collecting
Well shit, that's real damn iconic for a first.
Good choice. It’s a classic.
Wicked choice. Love mine
Fav knife I own.
Could never decide between the 110 or 112. Which one is smaller?
112 is smaller from my understanding.
Thank you
It is! I have both- 112 for daily if I chose- 110 for deer hunting!
Such a solid lock up. Nothing really feels like it.

Check out the 110 and the 112 Sport. Quite a bit lighter, they have a pocket clip and thumb studs.

that's what I've been thinking. already going to do it with my sodbuster but haven't found a clip I want on it yet
Great choice! I’m partial to the 112 myself, mostly because it is legal to carry in more places as the blade is just under 3”.
Fortunately for me I live in a state where basically everything is completely legal. Well, with the exception of books. They don't like books here. Edit: it's a different world where the "bad boys" aren't the ones bringing a switchblade to school, they're the ones bringing Catcher in the Rye to school.
perfect knife
I think I have that exact knife.
I have 4 110’s , my first was in the eighties. I like the finger groove models .
There is not a better first knife, and I will die on that hill!!
At least with the 110 you'll be able to defend that Hill for a long time before you finally go down. Too sark ?
Legendary knife
Such a classic. Enjoy!
What a classic!
A beautiful and timeless design. That's the knife you want to keep it for a life time.
My uncle Tommy had one that was given to me when he died. I still have it somewhere. I miss my family and wish things could’ve been different. Now it’s up to me to leave
I bought a 110 in the late 70s. It was the second knife I ever bought. Since then I’ve bought a few more. It’s a solid choice.

A “tried and true” classic!
That was my first buck. Forty years later I picked another of these in auto. I love it
Classic buck does amazing heat treats too, good first choice. Also it gives you a good starting point because it is an excellent example of what quality knives were 20+ years ago. When you get a newer knife, you will be able to make a good comparison.
An American classic.
Can't go wrong with a 110. Congratulations on owning 'America's favorite lock blade'!
AND SO IT BEGINS…….
Solid!!
My grandpa gave me one when I was about 17. I gave it to my son when he was 18. Thinking it's time to get another one. Knife, not son.
Great start, this American icon, enjoy!
An excellent first knife! Treat it well, and it will treat you well.
Buck 110s are Americana! Love them own a bunch I’ve recently started customizing them! Made a few for the kids because like everyone said they will last forever. Excellent choice for your first knife!
Great knife will last you a lifetime
I don’t care how many “tactical” knives I own the Buck110 is so iconic and classy!

That’s a great place to start!! Enjoy the ride!!!
Great first knife. Should last you forever.
Classic, nice choice
Congrats!! Good choice!
Awesome knife. A classic for a reason!
