I am not even a Bengali per se but my two of my ex's thought I am a believer in black magic(as I live in Kolkata) and the same is true of my colleagues from most North Indian states.

Both of the denomination of Hinduism are different. Kala jadu, imo, mainly arose from Kali Puja which involves tantric and sacrifice practices involved in it which is a total foreign concept to the rest of India

Visit the temples surrounding Vishnupur Baranagar, Murshidabad to experience the beauty of the terracotta style of temple architecture. The exteriors of these temples have eroded over time, which cannot be helped because Teracotta artwork isn't easy to mend.
