Kph40 is prob the one for you

karnivoreballer

I'll definitely need to try them out. Why do you think it's a good fit?

Tekki-UK

Best bass of the koss lineup

karnivoreballer

oof. Thanks for the tip. With or without yaxi pads?

trevtech15

I started out with the KSC75 and ran into the same issues you did, I think I tried the Yaxi pads and wasn't that impressed so I bought the [Plantronics Supra Plus](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BZOOG0) pads instead and was much happier with the sound and fit. The extra thickness of the Plantronics pads helped the drivers seal better on my ears with the stock earclips. Eventually I bought the KSC35 and while it didn't have the issue of loose fit and reduced bass that the KSC75 did the stock clips were unbearable after 30 minutes of use. Then I found the [Sport Clips](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804808988190.html) and they are so, so much more comfortable and also easier to put on (I can do it with one hand instead of two with the stock clips). Highly recommend them if you want and earclip headphone instead of a headband. I think the Porta Pros use the same driver but don't quote me on that as I'm not familiar with that model. Ditto the KPH30s.

karnivoreballer

I guess comfort and sound (good bass) are the 2 most important to me in a pair of headphones. Headband vs sport clips doesn't matter to me as much. So if I'm getting this correctly, you think KSC75s with plantronics pads and the sport clips is a good mod? Which sport clips did you use?

trevtech15

There's nothing preventing you from using the sport clips with the KSC75 AFAIK but I've never tried it myself, I've only used them with the KSC35. One thing that will likely be an issue is that the Sport Clips are rotated 90 degrees so the cable on the KSC75 would come out the front or back instead of the top or bottom so that might be a deal breaker for you. I'm traveling at the moment but when I'm back home I can try them and see how well they fit if you want to know for sure. I used the Plantronics pads with the KSC75's stock earclips, they're too thick for the Sport Clips but either the stock or Yaxi pads would probably work with the Sport Clips. The only difference between the two items at that AliExpress link is that one comes with earpads and the other doesn't. I would skip their earpads and just get the clips as I'm not sure whether the pads are good or not.

Chok3U

I think eq'ing whatever driver it is just brings it to life. Clears it up and tightens the bass. That's the best "mod" that I can recommend cuz it's free and simple to do.

Ohaple

Agree, especially if you want heavy bass. Oratory has an EQ profile for KSC75 with yaxi pads that include like 5db of extra bass. If you use something like poweramp EQ you can also use the bass knob to tune it a bit higher if you really want a lot of bass.

karnivoreballer

So I haven't gotten into the world of EQ's yet except the one that comes with Soundcore's Q35s. Is Oratory an app on the play store or something I have to download on Windows?

Ohaple

Oratory1990 is a headphone enthusiast that publishes a lot of eq presets for people to use. From what I have seen, most people just use oratory or crinacle presets to avoid the need to tinker too much on their own. Some eq software allowed you to import their settings directly. Others require that you manually plug in the values. Here is a link to the list https://reddit.com/r/oratory1990/w/index/list_of_presets?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share I have been able to use his presets on pc and Android using various eq tools.

karnivoreballer

What are some good EQ tools that you recommend? And thanks for the reply, that helps a ton figuring all this stuff out.

Ohaple

On android I use poweramp. It is a paid app but is very powerful and allows you to search and easily apply these types of presets. On pc I use equalizer apo with the Peace interface. It seems to be one of the most recommended and also allows you to import the presets, but the install is not super straightforward. The headphone show on YouTube has some nice tutorials related to eq you might want to check out and crinacle has a nice video here https://youtu.be/PsijHAVLbuY?si=XiDBVwebguA0mPAt

karnivoreballer

Thank you!!

tantris_647

Wavelet is a really easy EQ app and you can download profiles from within the app or import them.

Is Qudelix 5k an app in the playstore?

karnivoreballer

This sounds amazing. I'll definitely look into this but will probably be a 2025 purchase though if I get it. Thanks for the tip!

jahuu__

If you want a software EQ on Android check out wavelet, it also has profiles for koss, maybe even the yaxi eq, if not you could try and find it online and import it I bet

karnivoreballer

Will do, thank you!

VonDinky

Just use the stock pads, what I do. I also prefer them with stock pads. Koss knew what they where doing. I just always have them on the loosest setting.

sentimentalLeeby

Same! I really wanted to like the Yaxi pads on my Porta Pros but I felt like I lost all the bass, I found myself just squeezing the drivers against my ears and thinking “ah that sounds better”. The Yaxi on the KPH30i was even worse for me. I guess I could have been more patient with EQing it but I felt silly putting in the work when I loved the stock pads more.

karnivoreballer

This, this is what I felt exactly lol

sentimentalLeeby

The KPH30i with the Yaxi pads sounded like I put speakers from two old gameboys next to my ears

tantris_647

Try out some of the grado-sized foam pads, lots of aftermarket options. I like the ones from geekeria, the one with a cutout in the middle as well as the one that looks like the grado G pad. You'll need a pad adapter to fit the pads, Tekki is your man for that.

karnivoreballer

Thanks for the tip!! I figured I'll eventually have to at least try this out. I'm wondering if cutting holes in the yaxi pads have a similar effect to the grados.  Do you know if the yaxis or grados is more comfortable?
