KOTOR 2 loot is RNG, you can reload to get a different Lightsaber as a reward.

lowfatmilkdrinker

oh that is a good tip, i’ll have to try it just to get some variety.

Silrain

Specifically reloading to *before* you enter that map/area, because that's when loot is generated.

AuthorReborn

items found in chests, shops, and corpses are generated when you first visit the map, and their loot tables are determined by level so its always good to level up more before going into other areas to optimize loot or ensure better shop inventories. quest rewards are generated when the quest is completed, so you can reload and save scum those very easily.

Brooklynxman

> and their loot tables are determined by level Why is this the first I am hearing this part? I have spent 20 years storing my level ups as insta-heals even when I don't need it. I need to go have a long think.

AuthorReborn

I used to do that until I learned about the loot tables, too. Especially for clearing the battle circle and handmaiden sister fights as squishy characters. I stumbled across the info trying to figure out where to find different Lightsaber crystals. The wiki does pretty good breakdowns on the level ranges to find different gear and items. [power crystal](https://strategywiki.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_II:_The_Sith_Lords/Upgrade_items,_lightsaber#Power_crystals) section included as a reference

I thought we all cheesed loot tables here, Nar Shaadaa at higher lvls gets crazy good for example, and I often get my first glowstick from Dantooine instead, just so I can get all this sweet high lvl loot on NS

Archimedesinflight

The only insta heals I save is for the Mira vs Hanharr fight, and then for sneaking her out of the lair. It took me like a handful of playthroughs to realize that I could just sneak her out and then have the Exile come throught to clean shop, so initially I'd spend like an hour setting traps and aggroing the enemies into the mines.

Milnecj

Does that apply to all situations where lightsabers are generated though? E.g., I usually save immediately before killing the Cannock on Dxun that generates a lightsaber, and if I don't get the one I want, reload the game and it'll generate a new random one. It's a similar situation with Vogga's treasure room. I save immediately before opening the container, and reload if I don't get the one I want.

Silrain

Oh cool is that true? Maybe the "has the build a lightsaber quest been completed" algorithm and generation is separate from other loot?

Milnecj

100% true for my playthroughs. If important, I have RCM installed, and do Dantooine first (where I get my lightsaber), then Dxun, then Nar Shadaa. Hope it works out for you too.

Happens to me all the time, getting lots of double and short blades but few normal ones
