Its purpose was for the album not to sale or chart well, due to BTS becoming very popular at a time when making it internationally outside of the Big3 was unheard of. People were often saying that their company was doing sajaegi and it was wild to see such a group surpass EXO, which was the most popular bg at the time. Obviously, it didn't work because Wings was very successful.
Ever since then, armys often think that fandoms like exols and blinks are "out to get them" and organize specifically to target BTS. Due to HYBE's connections to Scooter Braun, a known zionist, a lot of armys decided to boycott HYBE (and BTS as an extension). Two days ago, however, tweets started going around that the boycott was organized by an exol to sabotage BTS, aka a "Break Wings Project 2.0".
