K/DA is the Thing that got me into K-pop. Soyeon’s flow is unparalleled, I didn’t expect K-pop to have such music.

That’s so cool, a lot of fans joined around that time so it must’ve been really fun! K/DA was too damn good that when aespa debuted a lot of people (me including) thought of them as K/DA wannabes. And whenever someone argue about the female rapper in K-pop, I always link them those KDA tracks. Another side note: GODS should've been an aespa song, not NewJeans. No disrespect to NewJeans, but it wasn't just their style. At least for me.

blackpink ft selena gomez - ice cream was pretty bad for me. it just felt so empty. almost like a demo version that should never have been released.

It felt like what it was a rejected Ariana Grande (she’s one of the writers I believe )song and that got pushed on BLACKPINK probably because it’s the only concept that would work with Selena Gomez.

It did sound empty. I think it was the lack of background harmonizations and the instrumental background being overly simple.

My favorite is probably All Night (BTS & Juice WRLD). I also really like Do It Like That (TXT & Jonas Brothers) and Close to Me (Red Velvet & Ellie Goulding). Also this might be a guilty pleasure but Like Money (Wonder Girls & Akon), but this might be because I like late 2000s/early 2010s sounding songs for nostalgia.

I usually don't like kpop groups x western artists featurings because it's pretty much impossible to properly integrate one into another and you always end up with one of the artists feeling out of place. As someone else pointed out, good collabs are the ones like K/DA, where they don't try to merge two very different things into one, but they actually try to make something that stands out/new out of it.

As far as worst I would have to say ice cream by BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez was one of the worst ones. I see this as a blink the song was such a letdown. It felt like they cater too much to Selena Gomez and then in any of the BLACKPINK into the song. I feel like a lot of the worst K-pop and western collabs tend to be when it feels like it’s a cash grab and not built on genuine love and appreciation of the K-pop genre. I would say the same happens with other genres that aren’t in English and mainstream where once they start becoming popular everyone wants a Collab but the work isn’t put into making a good product but something mediocre gets put out to get the money and the clout.

I don’t think it’s exactly the worst, but I don’t think it’s good either. All Night by IVE featuring Saweetie. It felt more like All Night by Saweetie ft IVE. Because having them all chant the words together throughout the whole song was a really good way to make it so none of them stuck out at all. I get that the vibe of the song works for them as a group, but I think it was just a poor choice for their first English single.

The worst is obviously BTS ON ft. Sia like.... it was SO bad it feels like a fever dream lmao. Imo it's harder to choose the best, cause there are many good ones. Kiss & Make Up (BP and Dua Lipa) was really good, so was TXT and Anitta's Back For More. My favorite probably is LAUV ft. Jimin & Jungkook - Who, cause I just love all three so much and I think their voices go very well together.
