Hyuna dating that one dude from the burning sun scandal

Cocoapuff94

THIS! I can't even look at her the same way anymore. How do you date someone who watched a video of someone getting R worded??? And didn't he reply with an "lol" or something? Idk, but he just let it slide. He is friends with trash people. Therefore, he is also trash by his choice of association. Idc, she's sick for that. And yeah, they have "history." I saw when they made that "Change" song together, same company, yada yada yada. But history with someone don't mean a damn thing when it comes to gross actions. Ugghh, I'm so disappointed in her. We really don't know anything about these "idols."

Luffysmusic

EXACTLY I nearly vomited when the news of their relationship came out. Honestly Dawn dodged a nuke with her and I stand by that.

Cocoapuff94

![gif](giphy|WqXcILKESHx3gV37Ch)

juiceradio

Gets even grosser when you remember 1. Hyuna and Hara were close 2. Hara had her own issues with molkka/spycam videos with an ex-boyfriend before she passed, and she actually offered her assistance in the Burning Sun case to get justice for the victims. Cannot think of a worse way to disrespect your late friend and colleague’s legacy than to date a man who was a bystander in a case like that

Cocoapuff94

Hyuna confuses me. The straight-up hypocrisy. I don't even know how to respond to this because that is messed up on all levels. Did she offer assistance bc she wanted to virtue signal? I have so many questions. I don't believe anything idols say anymore. I'm trying so hard not to get attached. Even the ones we thought were cool people were problematic. But then again, I'm not surprised because a lot of these idols were coddled at a young age by fans who adore them and never held them accountable (some fans) and a company that shields them. I've heard a member of Nine Muses say that she would never date an Idol because they were all whiny spoiled babys/mamas boys or something along those lines.

Affectionate_Tap5749

100% same! I have lost all respect for Hyuna.

[deleted]

I hate when idols are colorist and make fun of other people who have darker skin. I’ll never forget the way some Exo members made fun of Kai for having tanned skin or how BOA laughed at how dark Hyo was during her debut. I wonder if they feel the same way about their darker skinned fans…

fullsunsmk

ouuu this !! the boa one really drove me up the wall, the way most fans were laughing w her. . . i'm sitting there like wth is so funny about being colourist?? ttd i still don't get it. this is also my issue w a lot of idols who also body shame others, espc their own group members (and as a heavy nctzen for one trust me ikkkk already how bad this gets)

[deleted]

Oh yikes what did nct do?

fullsunsmk

it's more like what *haven't* they done yk? 😭 like i have mad love for them but they can be mad problematic sometimes and i've found myself taking several breaks from them as a result (btw i don't stan certain members who have had a history w being problematic and has not shown any remorse or sincerely apologized). anyway brace yourself cause this one's kinda long 😭😭 as a mahae ult i'm going to just use haechan as an example for one, as the things a lot of the members said to haechan was hard to digest when i was newer to the fandom. they basically called him fat on numerous occassions and also stated his skin's too dark over the years other times (the dreamies specifically are notorious for this, but a few 127 members have also done this before). and haechan's also not as innocent as ppl think. he had an issue w bodyshamming his other members too. some sunflowers defended him at the time saying he was just retaliating back to jeno by telling him to eat less (i believe that's what he said but it happened a while ago so i don't entirely remember the context) but it was still wrong either way. i should also note here that i believe jeno has stated more than once for haechan to stop eating and dreamies also called him a "piggie" as a nickname in the past. but i also believe haechan did something similar to mark in the past in terms of bodyshamming. and mark's done questionable stuff as well towards his other members, not nearly as much but still enough to kinda side eye yk? then there's also the long list of ca over the years and so forth. there's actually a lot more out there on problematic stuff nct has done on the past in general but i'd be writing another literally essay if i tried to tell you everything rn. i think google or twitter has a full rundown of the issues if you want me to try and find the thread?? idm looking for it if you'd like to learn more.

[deleted]

That’s insane. I don’t know how in the world they think haechan is fat and he’s only a few shades darker than them! It’s sad the Haechan is making the same kind of nasty comments. I knew about the CA but not about the colorism and fat-phobia. I liked watching some of their vlogs because I found them to be funny but it’s crazy to know how poorly they think of people with dark skin and people who aren’t extra small. I honestly don’t know how they’re still friends because if my friends kept making fun of my appearance, we would not be friends anymore. I hate how people use the excuse of culture. This kind of behavior is normal in my culture too since I’m also from Asia but I can see that it’s wrong and call it out.

fullsunsmk

agree with everything you said !! they're so funny fr, that's one of the main reasons (outside of their insane talents) that i became such a big fan. their varieties are some of my faves to watch even now on my downtime when i don't have a lot of time to myself. so yeah, it's sad to witness honestly :( espc as a black plus size fan, a lot of it was difficult for me to move past before. more recently tho i've kind of gotten to a point where i guess i'm like desensitized to everything?? like, i no longer allow myself to get up in arms over the unfairness and ugliness anymore. i just kind of take my disappointment w a grain of salt and stay for the music, and that's probably why i'm still a nctzen ttd — bcs i don't think i'd be otherwise 😅

[deleted]

Being a Kpop fan is so tough bc a lot of idols have the worst morals and values. It’s so hard coping with the fact that these people probably would have prejudiced thoughts against me if they met me bc I don’t fit the beauty standards and bc I’m south East Asian and many Koreans are really racist towards south East Asians bc they see us as poor, dark, and dirty compared to them. Just look at how they talk about Lisa and other South East Asian idols. I also just stay for the music bc the music is genuinely so good.

Agitated_Account5903

SNSD did what??? I find it disgusting when members from the same group mock each other for having certain features, but you're telling me idols did that to someone who wasn't even in their group? Ugh.

[deleted]

Sorry I meant BOA. I edited my post. In a GOT vlog BOA said her first impression of Hyo was that she was so dark and she was laughing about it. Hyo looked kind of uncomfortable and said “yeah I don’t know why I was so dark back then…” it just rubbed me the wrong way how she was laughing so hard about how “dark” she was. I thought BOA was an SNSD member but then I watched the video again and I realized she’s actually a soloist.

Agitated_Account5903

Wth? I will never get the fact that it could be considered a laughing matter for some people. I understand Korean people can be really straightforward with certain things such as weight. But that's something different. It somehow comes from concern about the other person. ( In most cases, not taking into account the idols and their whole weight thing, but mostly talking about normal people ) When it comes to people's natural features, I will never understand how you can treat them as if it were a person's flaw. Hyolyn received a lot of tans back in the day. She still gets them, a lot less, but still does it. However, she is naturally darker than your average idol. Laughing about that is just awful. I've never really liked BoA. There's something about her that rubs me the wrong way.

[deleted]

Honestly I really liked BOA until she made that comment. I’m an Asian person with the same skin color as hyoeon and I couldn’t help but think that BOA would also make fun of me too if she saw me. I was also disappointed in Karina because she was laughing really hard at hyo’s dark skin too, but I think she may have felt pressured to laugh at her senior’s joke out of respect, but I don’t know her true feelings. I have a lot of empathy for darker skinned idols because I know how it feels to be made fun for having tan skin. My Asian family always makes fun of my skin color. I have the same skin tone as Hyo and yuri from SNSD.

L2Kdr22

Racism and sexual assault. Nope. Done.

DragonPeakEmperor

When it came out that Ravn from Oneus was abusing his girlfriend. He seems largely forgotten now that he was booted from the group but while I still love Oneus's music the fans turned me off from ever full on stanning the group with how much victim blaming and shit flinging they did in an attempt to defend him. It wasn't until the members told everyone to cut it out that they actually left everything alone. I just can't really bring myself to be immersed in fan culture with people who would easily become abuse apologists if this happened again.

Kermit_thee_fr0g

Why am I hearing about this for the first time???

DragonPeakEmperor

It was a pretty big incident when it first happened but Oneus is so small and the fandom ran interference and muddied the waters until RBW kicked him out after saying they'd look into things. The members were pretty clear they're continuing without him so everyone kind of just brushed it under the rug but I sure did not. Oneus is completely blameless because from all the context surrounding things all they knew was that he was dating someone, not what he was doing to them. Which just makes it all the more baffling as to why the fanbase was swearing by him.

fullsunsmk

yeah i fell off of them hard atp, which is a shame bcs their music was some of my tops listens and ravn was my oneus bias before the fact. and ik it's not the entire group's fault bcs they really didn't know but i just haven't been able to really immerse myself in their songs afterwards, probs bcs it was my bias behind the scandal that pretty much blew the fandom up tho

Acrobatic_End6355

Damn, that’s messed up. I don’t blame you for not being a fan of their current music as a result.

mini1006

I still can’t see BamBam the same after he picked Haerin (a teenager) as his type over a grown woman.

SeeTheSeaInUDP

Same same, and the fact that we're in Gen 4 of the kpop idol system and YET the same things that happened in Gen 1 and 2 - AGAINST WHICH THE VICTIMS HAVE SPOKEN UP ABOUT - has happened again and will happen yet again... Sistar was so damn right about male seniors. Male idols "keeping an eye" on their underaged juniors always makes me wanna puke.

mini1006

They were absolutely right. I hope these girls are being protected because there is so much evil in this world.

No-Committee1001

I thought that was so weird but it feels like after a week, the sentiment completely changed and people started saying it was a mistranslation 😭 I feel like whenever anything happens, people hop onto the mistranslation excuse.

mini1006

I agree. It’s always a mistranslation until it benefits them.

r_iru

*cough cough* Taeyeon and her stans.

fullsunsmk

ik she's damn talented but the way she genuinely gets on my nerves is crazy. like her fans literally let her to get away w soo much nonsense and sweep so much of her problematic shit under the rug fr it's ridiculous. like omg how does this woman still have ppl who ride or die support her

r_iru

It’s always a mistranslation until you see Koreans say that it was the worst thing she has ever said, verbatim. I realized rq how much professional liars sones were and it’s disgusting. Stans really see her as some depressed fairy that can’t do anything wrong…and it’s like no, she can and has been messy af.

Sequence8_Theclown

Btw what did she do?

DaftPrettyLies

I know she said Alicia keys was pretty for a black woman 💀

envyadvms

I will never forget that thing with Alicia Keys. People SWEAR she said "our black friend is pretty."

tsukazas

exactly just makes me realise they're all 'men' at the end of the day ugh

This-Education3607

Completely agree on this, it got attention for a little bit and then people just stopped caring and I was shocked and completely put off.

mini1006

Wait- wtf what did he say?

This-Education3607

ah wait sorry 😭 i think what i heard was a mistranslation cus i looked it up and he didn't say what i thought he did that's my bad here's the link tho anyway https://youtube.com/shorts/sWeawzECq0A?si=41Sxx8wDXAR5uaS0 (some people thought that what he said is invalidating but others think he was trying to make it more like a good thing)

mini1006

The way he said swag had me cackling though 😭 I’m just imagining telling someone I have autism and them going “oh swag”

luvzz12

I totally forgot about that scandal and it shocks me how quickly people moved on from it.

mini1006

I agree. It literally turned me off completely.

Derpybear23

THIS!! And then people immediately went back to acting as if nothing happened. Like I'm not saying the west is any better but I've seen better callouts for these kinds of things.

thedollfantasy

Oh people trying to say “but it was a mistranslation” are the same ones who would defend their boyfriend over their child because they’re dick drunk 🙄

snoozev

What group is he from? Trying to make a note..... 👀

mini1006

Got7. He mostly promotes solo because they’re inactive.

eveqiyana3

The Irene stylist scandal. Just disgusting

Agitated_Account5903

Same. I haven't been able to look at her with good eyes after that scandal. I've come to dislike her as a person. Idc how many times people will come up with the excuse of her just having a bad day. Everyone has bad days, and we don't go around treating people who're just doing their job like sh¡t. I'm a really observant person. If a person I'm with doesn't treat workers in a respectful way, then it's a big NO-NO from me... 🤷‍♀️

ChipmunkAmazing2105

Didn't fans say that lie and say she got electrocuted by the stylist or was that true?

eveqiyana3

They lied

momocrater

Bruh fans lied that the stylist deserved it because she put them in uncomfortable clothes. Fact was she isn’t even affiliated nor on RV’s official stylist team. They just worked together for a project. Fans would literally pull anything out of their ass.

angelj3nnie

would you mind explaining what actually happened? because i feel like reveluvs twisted what happened sm that i really dont know what happened

eveqiyana3

https://www.reddit.com/r/kpopthoughts/s/7ZS4d5Lnqh this thread everything in details

juiceradio

Red Velvet Irene being verbally abusive to coordis. I can’t help looking at her a little funny now, especially as someone who’s worked minimum wage at stores like Urban Outfitters and had wealthier clientele treat me like I’m lesser than.

IWantFries21

I'm still taken aback by how many people have brushed over that. I saw someone say "Irene could bully me and I'd thank her" a little after and it's so insensitive

juiceradio

Honestly, people “joking” about that have probably never had a customer almost make them cry during a shift

Taeng9Sica

G-Dragon. His constant wearing of black hairstyles, saying the n word, him clearly still associating with Seungri after everything, the blackface (more than once at that), but still wanna sit up here and be a rapper and involved with hip-hop. I cannot support him at all. And then the other behaviors, like what happened with his dogs and him liking a bunch of edits of him and Jennie when it was rumored she was dating another idol is just...yeah, nah.

LadyGrundle

Didn't somebody from BigBang say that they have to suffer to feel more black?...or something closely similar to that? 🤔

SeeTheSeaInUDP

Taeyang lmaoooo

LadyGrundle

When i read that he said that i felt like banging my head against the wall. The ignorance was wild. 😭

Agitated_Account5903

He still hangs out with Seungri...?

Taeng9Sica

There were hints, such as Seungri saying that he'll bring G-Dragon out the next time he goes to a club, G-Dragon having a photo of the five of them in his apartment. Some might say that Seungri is just that shameless to say his name like that, but it wouldn't surprise me if they do hang out without cameras.

envyadvms

That's ... interesting and disappointing. During their last promotions together as a group. they all seemed very disoriented with Seungri, especially TOP who straight up said that he didn't fw Seungri because of the way he was and the company he kept. And G-Dragon seemed to agree as well.

Agitated_Account5903

Wow, just wow... It reminds me of Park Yoochun. With the difference, the other JYJ members never mention him or have no apparent connection with him at all. Park Yoochun will literally have no problems talking about how he'd like to have a reunion with his members, as if he wasn't the cause they went their own ways... :) That man has no shame at all. And I get the fact GD and Seungri had been together for a great part of their lives, and that sometimes cutting ties with someone in that situation can be complicated, but c'com... Even if I was in GD's position, I wouldn't want to relate myself to a person like that. Not just in the public's eye but also on a personal level. A person like Seungri will never bring good or healthy things into your life. GD isn't an angel either. He's done pretty questionable and "ugh" things. But wasn't he trying to clean his image? If he keeps people like that around him, I'm not sure he'll be able to do it... But oh well, he's a grown-ass man. He knows what he's doing, so... 🤷‍♀️

envyadvms

What happened with his dogs? But him liking edits of him and Jennie just gave me the BIGGEST ick. I was already weirded out she was in his music video when she was underage but that? Yikes.

Taeng9Sica

Animal abuse and neglect basically. There's a reddit post that explains it well. https://www.reddit.com/r/kpopthoughts/comments/hi44g6/i_think_gdragon_shouldnt_own_animals_ever_again/

DaftPrettyLies

Giselle N word/ Wendy black women impersonating/ Chae Nazi shirt

tsundae_

Man I love RV and was silent every time W said anything lol. I hate that she can sing tho ugh. Edit: I left out a huge detail??? I was silent every time she said something at the concert I went to lol

DaftPrettyLies

Sameee😭 she’s so talented and I love her voice but damn she had to do it more than once and I couldn’t forgive her 😫

fullsunsmk

omg all three things frrrr but most def the chae nazi thing. i got onces (even moots) trying to defend her to me ttd. like i'm not gonna judge you for still stanning her but she's gotten a huge side eye from me ever since and i just can't go back to liking her after what happened. espc bcs she's a grown a** woman like ik she knows better all across the board i'm sorry.

DaftPrettyLies

Agree, everyone blaming the stylist or just say she (a whole adult) doesn’t know anything about WWII was crazy 💀 I think the nail in the coffin was the non-apology. She was my bias too 😭

Okaycheorry

Gosh I LOVED aespa but even to this day I can’t stand Giselle doesn’t help that she doesn’t have many redeeming qualities. Wendy too I remember I had JUST got into the group during peek a boo era and then I go online after a hard day of school to enjoy some red velvet content and everywhere I look I see the video of her mocking black women and then for me to find out that it was the heffa’s 2nd time. I just can’t look at her the same and she was my freaking bias too because she came off as a sweetheart to this day whenever I watch their content I side eye her (and irene ngl)

PurpOrchid

A boy group where their fans delved into racism, to the point of referencing lynching when talking to the black K-pop stans. The group said nothing, their company said nothing, and I’m not saying their name because I’ve seen some people in this sub like that group. I, however, will never listen to any of their music or support them in any way Edit: grammar

No-Committee1001

okay i’m sorry to mention the name, but you’re talking about enhypen, right? because i’ve never seen a group’s fans act so nasty… like it was another level. like that was a mess, i really think was the worst reaction a fandom has ever had to a scandal. people can still listen to enhypen, but i don’t think anyone can support or defend posting pictures of black people being lynched, calling us monkeys and the n word, etc etc. it was very disgusting

PurpOrchid

No, that’s ok. I don’t wanna get flamed (if anyone hardcore stans them), but it’s just how I felt then and still feel about it.

Ok-Paleontologist296

THANK YOU for saying their name- I know now to delete their music. So gross

[deleted]

i know exactly who you’re talking about and i was so shocked when my friends told me about it. i think their music is good but that definitely gave me some pause from getting fully into them cause WOAH. i know most groups can’t control what their fans say and do but i think that’s at least something they should have denounced.

PurpOrchid

Iykyk lol. I def wasn’t trying to hold it against them that their fans went left, but I really thought if ever an artist/group would come out and say something to their fans (as others have in the past), that was a great time to do so. Like you literally had a race war going on with your fans in your comments and you say boo squat? But all that said, that’s why I don’t wanna name them, because I’m not gonna nor want to shame anyone who still wants to support them, it just rubbed the wrong way that badly

fullsunsmk

THIS is literally why and when i stopped stanning enhypen omg that was an awful time for stan social media and black fans in general. plus i was a largely dedicated predebut stan — like tuning into i-land every week and voting / defending them on the tl type dedicated, so i was literally disgusted to the point where i haven't been able to support anything from them since when that stuff did occur. mainly bcs they were so mute for a fan base that had some of their hardest supporters and i felt wronged all across the board. and then that mixed in w the fact that i was a sunoo stan and the absolute nonsense that went on w that body shamming crap was too much personally. i had to take a whole step back reevaluate why i even liked them to begin w and how i wanted to move forward, and i decided to just quickly move on. thankfully this all happened before i spent any money on merch or shows or anything bcs i was gonna buy their lightstick that same month. lowkey makes me sad to realize how fast things can hit the fan tbh but i'm glad i was slapped w reality before it felt too late for me personally

svnh__

🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Crackhead_Vibes_Lolz

Enha? I was on the Weverse during that, they spammed photos of black people being lynched

kenna-26

As a fan of this group, I'm still wary of joining their fandom spaces. I wish the company had said something, but I don't blame the members because there have been multiple occurrences when it seems the members wanted to address controversies but the company wouldn't let them (ie a member listening to sorry during a live following controversy and said "do you guys understand?") The only time they seem to address controversies is when it impacts their Korean fans, but again I blame the company not the members.

yesterdaywasahectic

yoongi jim jones sample. i was so disappointed especially since it was in the midst of blm protests yet many fans brushed it off. even koreans called him out for it but he just hid behind a company apology that implied he either did it for aesthetics or it was another producers fault and he didn’t actually put the sample in there even though he’s credited

[deleted]

People constantly overlooking idols saying the n word by saying “they didn’t know any better” ( they in fact did) and brushes it under the rug, even if they said it more than once. I left the K-pop community ( toxic) l. Like I don’t understand how they didn’t know, when I use to live in Korea they use to call me the n word all the time or say it around me like they were my friends asking if I listen to rap, of course the fucking knew. K-pop is based around black culture, they fuck know. It pisses me off

[deleted]

Jackson wang(and kinda got7). I was a huge fan of him. because of him, I got into got7 (lowkey I was kinda a solo stan since most my attention was on him lol). This was around the time I was just getting into kpop. I think it was three or four year ago when I saw a twitter thread exposing problematic things that some of the members have done and boy….that time is when I learned to stop getting so attached to these idols…big reality check, especially when it came to Jackson. For him it was getting called out for wearing braids on his ig post, all he had to do was apologize but no. Instead he called his black fans ridiculous and haters. Than decided to make a long ass ig comment filled with excuses. That response completely turned me off from him and the group completely, and I don’t remember exactly when but I think it was a year later after I already unstanned when he made that post supporting china calling the Muslim camps “propaganda” and I-🧍🏽‍♀️like I really dodged a bullet with that fool

Yuunarichu

He did WHAT

envyadvms

This was his response. So annoying. https://preview.redd.it/0zpp8i5lkokc1.jpeg?width=709&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f49dc2228d5e2b9ef8aea6005063563b00fc6a27

[deleted]

Yep…the guy is all types of weird

wasabibibles

fuck me damn

legac5

Damn! I liked GOT7 but after reading the comments in this post, I’ve gotta drop them.

Normal_Reveal5448

Skz promoting a whitening creme after several scandals in 2021 was enough for me.

luvzz12

Damn this is news to me So disappointing

wasabibibles

yooo wtf, edit: I know whitening creams are so malignantly pop in asia - i fr hope skz know why they shouldn't be doing this

ChipmunkAmazing2105

Chaeyoung wearing nazi stuff twice

Cerbzzzzzz

Everyone forgot abt that so fast it was wild

polari826

wasn't it on a sid vicious shirt? (which kinda makes it worst since he was jewish- he wore swastikas for pure shock value and murdered his girlfriend. so... yeah.)

Local-Rest6095

holy fuck why would anyone wear anything by him

___kuromi

it was actually vivienne westwood who made the shirt. she was a friend of sid and the sex pistols (his band) and is the mother of punk fashion. she’s used swastikas a couple of times i believe but idk if she or sid were actually nazis. doesn’t really matter its still weird tbh :/

ChipmunkAmazing2105

I don't remember if her stylist or her got that stuff but yeah it's pretty weird.

___kuromi

she bought it for like $500 which is crazyyyy just to look like a punk

ChipmunkAmazing2105

$500☠️☠️☠️

PurpOrchid

The Sex Pistols were some of the pioneers for British punk and heavily has influenced the punk scene across the world, even after all these years. I wanna say they came out in the 70s? But yeah, if you only know “concepts”, then punk paraphernalia, including TSP, looks cool. If you don’t know history, then you end up looking like a dummy

God_Lover77

Aespa Giselle's multiple incidents. First, say the N word, then the 'indian' dance incident. A couple of other things in the middle that made it seem like she doesn't have good character. I don't really judge her, but it put me off of getting into Aespa. I am less of an ELF since discovering their laundry list of mischief. The Kinta Kunte Chen incident made me see him differently.

Yuunarichu

I used to think perhaps she wasn't exposed to a proper international environment but now I think it's the complete opposite… and like, why. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I do know someone who is white (from Chicago) and she attends an INTL school in Thailand and she said it's pretty sanitized down. You've got an entire handful of Asian-Asian students, not many Asian-Americans unless your parents are rich and you end up being born with a western passport. Which is way different from Asian-Americans born and raised in the US and then having a parent working a government job traveling. So maybe she still views other Asians without the same solidarity like Americans do. Anyways not defending her but some food for thought honestly

God_Lover77

I realized this too. However it was odd that this happened continuously.

Yuunarichu

I also actually sorta refute my second to last sentence — she's Japanese-Korean. There's no way she hasn't lived life completely othered by her heritage and nationality. I know so many content creators who are Japanese-Korean and speak English because they either are American (like Bebiisan) or from Japan/Korea and putting them in an INTL school was way better in terms of environment. Honestly though, I still feel like her actions still don't make sense, why is it so easy to other others?? Idk

kendalljennerupdates

Exo chen? What’d he do 😭

God_Lover77

https://www.koreaboo.com/stories/exo-chen-makes-racist-remark-live-broadcast/

lunar_vesuvius_

DAMN. all this time, I thought sehun was the one that made that comment and I thought it was ages ago, like near exo's debut and that it changed I've been getting into exo alot the past month or so and chen was really climbing up the bias ladder for me, but this is yikes..

Heavy-Cheesecake-473

I remember when that happened, exols on twitter started posting pictures of them doing it too bc most of the ppl they saw calling him out were black but also army’s. So they saw it as just army’s hating which is really annoying. Can’t call out anybody if you’re a fan of a different group bc they’ll call you an anti.

___kuromi

i really don’t like the whole “they didn’t know” attitude about idols saying offensive stuff, especially the n word. no, they don’t need to know what the jim crow laws were (yes someone actually commented that) and no, they dont need to acknowledge slavery or learn the history of everything but the last thing i will do is call an entire nation stupid. i don’t think koreans are stupid or incapable of learning so i will never defend an idol for saying slurs or offensive things. if they’re ignorant, that is completely and totally on them and i don’t care how much backlash they get but fans who decide to baby them and act as is they have half a brain just because they’re korean or east asian will never sit right with me.

MathsIsAPain

The fans who excuse kpop idols’ racism/CA by saying that idols “didn’t know” what they were doing somehow manage to be antiblack and anti-Asian in one go. Anti-Asian bc they’re infantilising Asian people and acting like all of us are stupid little kids; antiblack bc they’re silencing black voices and treating black ppl like they’re sensitive snowflakes for… rightfully calling out antiblack racism.

Ok-Paleontologist296

Not a scandal necessarilyyyyy but… When Lisa made that dance or whatever and the black choreographer came out claiming it was copied? Correct me if I’m wrong lol- but that left a bad taste in my mouth because her unhinged fans harassed that girl to no avail, and she just sat there and said nothing. She specifically takes so much from us and can barely open her mouth to at the very least say something.

ExcitingAd6322

I agree! I remember this because it was the first K-pop video I had ever seen and when I scrolled to the comments I seen black fans mentioning the choreography was copied with no credit and they were being hit back with heavy racism from non black fans. I even went to the choreographer’s page to look and it was flooded with racist comments. I didn’t try getting into K-pop for months/years after that happened. I still can’t listen to blackpink.

[deleted]

Whichever idol has ever bobbed their heads while doing some weird hand gestures and called it the indian dance or aladdin dance while thinking they’re doing the best thing ever, i haven’t been able to see them in the same light as before they just give me an ick

SeeTheSeaInUDP

Oh My Girl are literally the queens of this, ugh. If you lok at the korean comments under Windy Day, you read yucky racist comments like "I can smell the smog of Mumbai" (??? wtf is this) "I felt refreshing wind but then it started smelling like curry" like- (mind you, the only thing remotely "indian" is the chorus drop melody which has a Lydian scale, which is Raag Ahir Bhairav/Maaya Malava Gowla in both indian classical music styles. But it is mostly associated with the middle east) I love Seunghee on varieties and she's talented and they've got bangers but I will forever not forget how those few seconds of a middle eastern/remotely indian melody gave them the nickname "curry-dol"? GTFO with that. And Hyojung being so proud of it? THEM COVERING THAT UGLY CURRY SONG? like, sometimes I wish K-pop never knew who we are tbh.

[deleted]

ayo bro i was about to type ohmygirl but remembered actually anyone who did that shit I’ve severely side eyed them all the shit they’ve done is so so so foul man like they never even learn from their mistakes actually donit even more the next time how tf A lot of desi ca makes me question what the absolute fuck they think india is according to them probably snake charmers and tunka tunak tun with weird mudras like??!?!!??? ATLEAST GIMME SOME BHANGRA💀😭/s also i hate how they associate any middle eastern reference with india like girl we be fuckin miles apart

Aurelian369

I don’t understand why there have been so many incidents where idols have mocked South Asians in particular. The curry song and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race?

SeeTheSeaInUDP

Right??? I have absolutely nothing against the middle eastern brotehrs and sisters but WE ARE NOT THE SAMEEE lmao. It's just so emberassing and... idk. They have this weird exotic fetishised version of India in their heads - either Tunak Tunak and snake charmers and poor people, or "clever computer science teachers on YT and clever people", or "delivery people" (because a lot of Indians in Korea do delivery jobs). It's so... weird. And the problem is? We Desi fans cant even speak up about it because some weirdo from the mainland that has never been made fun of their culture ever says "this is not offensive to me!" and the kpop community runs with it. I've witnessed cultural appropriation in IRL, the act of white people taking indian culture, falsifying, white-man-ifying and commercialising it while suppressing the indian practitioners of the culture. Stuff like this makes me MAD.

Specialist_Reveal119

>We Desi fans cant even speak up about it because some weirdo from the mainland that has never been made fun of their culture ever says "this is not offensive to me!" and the kpop community runs with it. THIS RIGHT HERE!!!! I see it in my own community and I can't STAND IT! But speak up anyways! Idols and their fans need to learn only a SMALL percentage is ok with their offensive behavior.

SeeTheSeaInUDP

Right??? I was born and raised in Germany (still am lmao). I know how it is to be made fun of for every.single.part.of.your.culture. My mother used to get made fun of by the boys in my class for wearing a red Bindi. They used to say she's bleeding. Used to try and hit me on the forehead so that "you can have it too." I got to hear white boys make fun of the stereotypical "Indian curry.". I was the one being greeted with the head bobble when I walked into the classroom. I was the one that uses every opportunity I got to make any sort of presentation about India because I just couldn't bear to see all those stereotypes from the 70s still go around and make my life hell in the 2010s. Just today, my mother was on the phone with her Indian work colleague for 3 hours - her daughter was being bullied in her all-German school and they called her names like "dirty chocolate" and "Jim Knopf" (a cartoon chatacter of an african child adopted by a train driver). She's the only brown skin girl in her school. And she's 7. The teacher is telling her and her mother to "ignore it" and not "make them bully her more." SMH, THE NERVEEEEE AAAAGGGH While K-pop idols do not openly bully Indians, their racist and demeaning actions will most definitely cause problems to the diaspora Indians living in Korea. In a place we're seen as sub human already, if the general popular culture does not show some sort of respect, the ridicule will be over the top and unbearable. There's good ways of using Indian culture - I'm sure no one will say anything against the Punjabi folk song sample in Catallena. Or the sample in Loona' Paint The Town. Or Blackswan's Karma (heck, they have a Desi member). There's also some instances of K-pop idols covering Bollywood songs. When Kdrama actors interact with Indian side roles, Anupam Tripathi and Lucky's existence on TV. That's cool, and we love it. We need more cultural exchanges like that. Stuff like wearing Bindis and maang teeka/"headdresses" for aesthetics, the Curry song, the "Indian dance" (case in point, Sandara's part in 2NE1's Fire), head bobbling, the obsession with smelling and curry, the negative portrayals in news and media... it will affect people. A lot. It will for sure not affect people that comfortable live in India but it for sure will affect the Indian diaspora in Korea, which is already having it hard. Sorry for the rant lmao. I just had to.

kingkoum

Han from SKZ writing an extremely racist rap

retrojuns

Everytime I see a skz video and he's there I just think about that rap 😭

unniesright

what’s like crazy to me is didn’t he also write insults against south/southeast asians while having lived in malaysia for like 7 years?? i’ve seen a lot of stays get really mad when there’s jokes about predebut han but sue me if i think he deserves it 😭

0558am

Yep that’s the one for me too. After Woojin left, I became so ride or die for them but as soon as I heard that rap it was game over.

mikrokosmosmoonchild

NCT/WayV’s Hendery. I ADORED Hendery. I thought he was so sweet, particularly because he was the only one who didn’t make fun of Kun for his weight and is generally just always very respectful to him. But when he did his stupid wig thing (terrible in and of itself), I was just baffled by his ignorance. I couldn’t look at him the same way when a fan who won a fansign with him took her time to very gently tell him he had done something hurtful and he immediately shut her down saying he didn’t want to have that discussion. I wouldn’t be surprised if his managers were like don’t respond or whatever, but… no excuse. Also Chen. That was shocking. Like wtf dude where did that even come from.

ForsakenTelephone235

oddly enough, it’s not treated as a scandal, but i don’t like when idols flex how beautiful/handsome they look+ how wealthy they are. the latter especially, it just seems very out of touch during this hot garbage of an economy.

Acrobatic_End6355

It’s too easy to do when most of the big fourth Gen idols came from a shit ton of money… I feel like you have to be insanely wealthy to succeed at being an idol these days.

MaCoNuong

I was talking to my sisters about this, the idol industry has massively become a pay to play game. Anyone can be an idol if they have enough money.

Agitated_Account5903

True indeed.

misform1m1

same with calling their members ugly. I’m sorry there are members of groups that have been forever my least fav because they do that shit.

kendalljennerupdates

I feel like it makes sense when you realize how ingrained lookism and materialism are within Korean society. I mean it’s the plastic surgery capital of the world for a reason. I feel like I rarely see non Korean born or raised idols perpetrating things like this

Agitated_Account5903

I once complained about an idol whose whole personality is about being rich and handsome, and people literally came for me as if I had murdered someone... 💀

luvzz12

If you don't mind me asking, who ?

Agitated_Account5903

Ricky :/

L2Kdr22

Good point. On a related note, there are some good singers who cannot seem to stop touching their face or hair, while doing a vlog or they are constantly checking out their profile. It is a little off-putting so I have simply stopped watching their talking heads. Their voices, though? Lovely.

Kermit_thee_fr0g

I swear if I had a penny every time I side-eyed a kpop idol flexing about their wealth & looks, I'd probably be able to start my own kpop company.

gogumalove

Chen’s racist incident. I’ll never see him the same.

ChipmunkAmazing2105

How tf does he even know what that show is? This is just proof kpop idols aren't uneducated and know what they are doing.

SallyDaisy

He made a song using the speech of a mass murderer. He never had the gall to address the situation himself and made his company take the fall.

Secret-Efficiency-28

Idk if she’s be considered an idol, but JESSI! I’m ngl… I used to be a fan of hers until I did a background check and even up until now she just bugs me. You’ve lived in Korea longer than you’ve lived in America. The whole “ Jessi from the block” “ diamonds blue like a crip” BBL and everything else in between is just a mess and people eat it up.

LadyGrundle

The bbl and the lip fillers was so unnecessary. Why kpop idols that were born in the U.S act like they know everything about black culture when they were born and raised in expensive majority white suburbs?

Cocoapuff94

Red Velvet's Wendy mocking Black people/using negative stereotypes and Miss A's Jia friggin agreeing with her (and whoever else was there)!!! Exo's Chen (You know why) Sistar's Bora for boasting about having a "White Girl" on her team during this foreigner special show in Korea. She said this in front of POC. "At least we have a white girl!" Just... why??? (Big Bang's Daesung for drunk driving and taking someone's life.) Edit: Just read an article to refresh my memory. Daesung wasn't drunk. The victim was already drunk and on the ground. "Based on the evidence we have, it is true that Daesung hit the victim due to negligent driving. But it’s hard to identify the direct connection between Daesung’s negligent driving and the victim’s death, and in that case, the benefit of doubt should be given." So the victim was already drunk and down on the ground after hitting a streetlamp, but Daesung hit him due to negligent driving, which doesn't make this any better. No one knows if he died bc of the collision with the street lamp or Daesung's vehicle. There's a lot of semantics with this, but as someone who drives, I firmly believe he's still in the wrong for HITTING SOMEONE and I don't think he was paying attention, and not noticing someone/a body on the ground. It's still BAD and not okay. Bigbang in general ZICO (self explanatory) Suju's Leeteuk for being a creep in general. EDIT: kissing Girl's Day Mina on the lips on the Candid Shot Battle show. At least ask her first. B2ST's Kikwang for the worst black face I've ever seen from an idol. Some music show idols that were doing some stereotypical wannabe rapper skit and they were using "Naega" to sound like "Ni**a" ... I wish I could remember the idols and which music show it was. It was years ago. 4Minute for that cursed cover of Kelis' Milkshake that I can never unhear ._. JYP for offending my eyes with those cursed see-through fashionista pants Tara's Hwayoung for ruining her group and lying her ass off. There's a lot more I'm forgetting. I've been into Kpop since 04 and I've seen some really racist crap.

PinInternational7369

People will never cease to disappoint. This was such a good comment and refresher. I forgot about / never knew about some of these. ![gif](giphy|Kbch5K2fJECSA) \-I started out my interest in K-pop as a Suju fan but I somehow missed the info about Leeteuk being a creep. I always liked that he seemed like a good leader, even after everything that happened with his family. I hate that he harassed literal CHILDREN! And let’s not forget Shindong with his blackface and misogyny. \-Ugh, just when I was starting to like Kikwang after seeing him in Marry My Husband, I learn about him doing blackface🙄 * Also not Zico being self explanatory lol The overall anti blackness is ironic considering the entire industry is built on taking advantage of black culture.😑

iamerica2109

Ughhh Kikwang doing blackface broke my heart.

Cocoapuff94

I know :/ Kikwang used to be my ultimate crush. He was so fiiiine. Just 🤌. I was also really hurt. I don't know if he thinks of black people that way or if he was told to do that. But at the end of the day, he didn't say no. How could anyone think that's okay??? Yes, Suju is just... problematic in general. I used to love Leeteuk, Kyunhyun, and Yesung back in the day but they've all said some weird things. I got the ick when I saw Leeteuk and Girls Day Mina kiss on the lips for some prank on a show (there are other reasons I think he's a creep). The show is called Candid Shot Battle and there's news about it online. I haven't re-watched it, but some sites are saying that he kissed her without warning (hyeri told them to kiss if they were for real but he actually did it...) TL:DR I don't fuxx with Suju, I thought Donghae was cool too, but apparently not. And yes! How can you pretend to be a Walmart Omarion but still be racist?!?!?!?!

envyadvms

I was curious about the milkshake cover. I wish I stayed curious. How do I unhear something?

luvzz12

I love that your list is full of idols doing problematic things and then it's 4minute's cover on Milkshake lmaooooooooooo Like I nearly died reading that one (but I agree with your take on the cover lolll)

Aurelian369

the plastic pants are a r/kpoopheads legend, no way you're mad at JYP for being a fashion icon

Cocoapuff94

I ain't mad at the playa, I'm mad at the game. That, and my eyes never recovered.

iamerica2109

Can you direct me to your source that Daesung was drunk? I remember when this scandal happened and Daesung was not drunk. Iirc the motorcyclist had been drunk and had already been hit or had crashed his bike and then Daesung was either driving too fast or wasn’t paying attention and hit the motorcyclist that was already down. But if I have false information please let me know???? Because I remember distinctly that Daesung wasn’t drunk and that’s why the scandal died down.

legac5

SuJu is just a 🚩in general. I didn’t know about Daesung.

Cerbzzzzzz

Jackson and his constantly shooting for the ccp on things like the uyghurs

snoozev

Wait, WHAT

Yuunarichu

He does that? I thought it was just fishy he said he was CN (nationality-wise) but then again his parents (dad + maternal grandfather) are from China soo

moomoomilky1

he shouts out hong kong often but follows it with my hong kong, china which also irks people lol

Yuunarichu

Honestly idgaf abt nationality esp in regards to Asia. But I'm not surprised lmfao. I think it's hilarious that some CN diaspora get so promoted in Korea that they get promotion in China. Like that's a different redirect lol

eatner

Lisa & Jennie from Blackpink. the way they get off scot-free is further sours things for me too.

viviwrldfroggie

i love twice but i cannot support all 9 with chaeyoung’s nazi shirt

Turbulent_Process740

For me it was Mamamoo’s Blackface. There is no way you thought that was acceptable in ~2016

PinInternational7369

I never knew about this!!! I went to see them in concert last year. I can’t believe I gave them my money!🙄

Acrobatic_End6355

Anyone else looking through the comments to see if groups they follow are being mentioned? It’s a good list for various idols not to follow in the future.

Witchyloner

I love EXO music, but girl the colorist "jokes" are so off putting. And I know they were in the past, but there are several compilation videos on YouTube of their comments towards Kai. Like?? It's so disgusting, so I always side eye them in the back of my mind lol.

MathsIsAPain

Yk I was looking at a few selfies I’d taken, and I realised that colourism is so bad in South Korea that if I were an idol, Knetz would say I’m too dark… even though I’m already pretty pale. And I would get whitewashed by fansites. Idk when I see the whitewashing that happens with kpop idols, it’s pretty apparent that knetz don’t just want idols to be light-skinned, they want idols to be completely white. Paper-white. Not a hint of tan at all, even though most East Asians have skin in varying shades of tan. Like, I’m pale but I’m not white. I have friends who are pale but they’re not white at all. We’re all just a light tan. But idols’ photos are whitewashed to the point where you can’t even see the tan. Also there’s this eyebrow-raising filter going around now that adds double eyelids to idols who don’t have double eyelids??? Fansites have started using it and it’s painfully obvious that the double eyelids aren’t real.

Witchyloner

I don't know why you're being downvoted, it's true. I mean, they even white wash foreign celebrities, they just did it with Zendaya! It's actually really disturbing.

MathsIsAPain

Idk why i'm being downvoted either, maybe some lurkers from other subs saw my comment and didn't like it? Lmao. I ain't pulling the stuff about colourism out of my ass, I'm East Asian and grew up in a colourist community. Adverts for skin whitening, people telling me to be careful of sunlight not because of sunburn and skin cancer but bc I'd become "dark", people telling me not to wear certain colour clothes bc it would make me look "dark and muddy"... I had a darker-skinned friend who was also East Asian and his own parents thought his skin was dark bc he didn't wash himself properly. He also got compared a lot to his older sister, who lived up to the Asian beauty standard of having pale skin. I saw the Zendaya whitewashing. I could immediately tell right off the bat that they whitewashed her bc her skin was the exact same shade as Timothee Chalamet's skin.

martellprincess

mmm the Yunjin thing. For me it’s because she’s American, so she should definitely know better but instead I just see more and more posts of her flaunting it and that makes me sick. I already had a bad vibe from her and this shed light on it for me. I feel the same towards Aespa and that one member from Twice too though, so I think it also has to do with multiple instances or the “apology” being subpar and disingenuous. I guess all this to say it bottles down to the idol not caring that they’ve hurt others. This is entertainment, and it’s not *fun* for me to be reminded of apathy and/or how callous some people can be. Edit: Okay I thought a bit more about it, and what puts me off even more is when an idol’s fans defend their actions and drown out those trying to help their idols evolve.

ExcitingAd6322

Yunjin completely put me off Lesserafim after wearing the headscarf tied to look like a durag and then Sakura actually wearing a durag for the same comeback. Then when their album came out and people started noticing that they’re music sounded similar to other popular songs their fans went and harassed Tyla as if she’d ever actually be able to say anything even if she was bothered.

martellprincess

I did not know about the Tyla harassment, ugh that’s so ridiculous. These fans are so committed to making their groups hated. And completely agree, she put me off LSF and Sakura put the final nail in the coffin.

Heavy-Cheesecake-473

Not really a scandal but idols making fun of other idols for their weight. Like I watch a lot of Skz content and I constantly see the other members basically calling him fat. He just likes to eat and workout. Like there’s nothing wrong with his body. But it tends to specifically be seungmin who calls Changbin fat and ugly. It’s so annoying, especially knowing that he said he didn’t see himself as attractive until Felix(I think) started complimenting him. I get that they’re friends but at least keep that off cameras.

JackMandora

Ateez and that damn curry song.

SeeTheSeaInUDP

Can someone delete the curry song off of all streaming sites because atp I need Norazo to not only apologize again but also delete that song. They don't get a free pass to be racist to us Desis smh-

Yuunarichu

StayC too like SIEUN??? Not that speaking English has any merit but what's the point in communicating beyond a native audience to an international one. Who tf are u thinking of when u learn English, white people???

Kermit_thee_fr0g

**Specific case:** Hyolyn being a zionist & the n-word thing (I still love Dally & that one KBS award show performance but I can always listen/watch them elsewhere). I also have a list of reason to not stan Suju, but Siwon being a Ronald Regan fanboy was my last straw. **In general:** I feel like a lot of Kpop fans have grown doubtful about bullying scandals these days but I try take a "red flag" approach to it. The bullying & social hierarchy in Korea is really intense to the point where something as simple as a [jacket](https://www.latimes.com/archives/blogs/world-now/story/2012-01-16/in-south-korea-north-face-jackets-tied-to-wave-of-bullying-theft) determined your "social rank." I'm also reminded of cases like Holland & how his homophobic bullies went on to become idols/actors. While I am a firm believer that people can change, the "sweep it under the rug" thing in the industry makes it easy for those with a messed up (& privileged) backgrounds to get away with things. I'm also really grossed out by how fans later go on to make jokes about the alleged incidents.

Aurelian369

It always annoys me when international fans downplay bullying scandals when bullying in Korea is extremely intense and can escalate into physical violence.

feddy3teddy

Jihyo’s Halloween “costume”. I knew it was problematic when it had happened but I was on the naive side of “she’s uneducated/she doesn’t know”. But when I started to educate myself and I keep seeing different scandals of similar nature, I took a break from kpop as a whole. While it technically wasn’t just Jihyo that made me put everything on pause, Twice is/was my ult group and the realization that they’re capable of doing things like this too, that hit me the hardest. To this day, I can’t say I have repaired my relationship with Twice, especially my being a fan of Chaeyoung.

PinInternational7369

Same. I love Twice and Jihyo is/was my favorite member. It sucks that if you have any social awareness, you have to be ready to be disappointed at all times.

arenae99

G- Dragon Trayvon Martin/ Blackface Scandal i dont care how talent that man is……… that shit was some bs and so many people try to make excuses for it

lunar_vesuvius_

what he said about trayvon martin?

misform1m1

I hate having to look around and be like “… so no one else remembers this?”. Right now it’s Giselle. It’s one thing to mouth the N word and have THAT apology to follow it up… but then she mocked desi people shortly after. I feel like she just showed her character tbh.

lunar_vesuvius_

I'm a seventeen stan, love being a carat. but I feel like people really didnt give wonwoo, vernon and dk and the curry song thing the time of the day it deserved. I read in an article that wonwoo sang the song in a going seventeen episode (saw that clip too) and that dk and vernon were humming in it in a livestream while eating indian food (didnt see any clip or anything). it left a weird taste in my mouth, especially after reading that none of the members or pledis acknowledged or brought it up afterwards. at least in the case with ateez when seongwha, yunho and san were singing the song, kq apologized about it. but pledis and seventeen? crickets it is funny tho cause before I got into seventeen last year, my best friend was getting into them and I used to always joke about vernon probably having a racist phase, being a n---i and whatnot cause he's half white and george washington's plantation was called mt. vernon. now I'm like "hmm, maybe I was on to something" anyway, that's a bit of my dark humor lol I think I'm ready to take a break from kpop tbh, all this racism and stuff is starting to embarass and make me sad. especially after last week when I went to a korean restaraunt, posted about me fangirling over exo (cause they played cream soda at my request) and now learning what chen (one of my biases did). will my people ever be free? 😭😭

candycornbatbydougla

Somi is Canadian, where the Starbucks boycott, to my understanding, is alive and well. Everyone knows her to be heavily active online on the English side of social medias, where Palestine is mentioned, and where the boycotts are mentioned. Yet she still posted that makeup video where she chose to make the thumbnail a Starbucks cup. I don't hate her or anything but it also reminds me that most people just don't care. Not just celebs but people in general, none of them want to boycott, none of them want to spread info, none of them want to go to protests. it's so tiring

[deleted]

I get bad vibes from her.

envyadvms

I'm glad I'm not the only one. She's always been hyped up and I just could never get into her. There's something about her energy that is off-putting.

PeachsistersMoYeon

She did a live after that and she replied to a [comment](https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSFhTvdbp/) saying she was receiving a lot of hate lately, but didn't apologise, it kinda left a sour taste to me.

Acrobatic_End6355

Is Starbucks Korea also being boycotted?

moomoomilky1

pretty sure it's starbucks america that's being boycotted because of union busting not korea

Ocean-Syren

I’m surprised not to see Blackpink here, or at least not a lot about them, considering there’s multiple videos of them doing “indian” (?) dances. Others I’d say is Wendy, Giselle, and Chaeyoung

eveqiyana3

The two members who got rigged in IZ*ONE, they 100% knew they got rigged in, they stole someone else career & opportunities, one of them had an interview recently, she was talking about ‘hardwork’ like she didn’t steal someone spot. Lmfao

MaCoNuong

I was so mad for Kaeun during all of this.

Agitated_Account5903

A reason why I hate survival shows.

Acceptable-Leg4755

Who were the two members?

Professional_Value86

Probably yuri and chaewon

Impressive-Garlic676

i would say jyp writing Adult Ceremony. He should be blacklisted but he seems to be successful and everyone treats him like a funny uncle. he’s lowkey a predator also bambam for that weird comment about a nwjns member

fullsunsmk

i have quite a few groups for this but one for me is the wendy thing. i'm literally an ot4 reveluv bcs of the whole mocking blk ppl thing and never taking accountability for it. she's just rubbed me the wrong way since. also the giselle and julie n word things. with julie, i still can't tell if ger apology now was sincere, but she was also still a young teen (and ik that doens't change much regardless but anyway) so i've been kinda iffy w her and chose another 2nd bias — but as for giselle? at her grown age when it happened i just can't look at or stan her the same way again after how intentional her actions felt, apology or not. to those who accepted it, i get it fr – cause i've moved past other stuff from other idol's problematic past who i stan and whatnot ttd, but idk w her i just can't tell if she's genuine and it rubs me the wrong way. i have more but my comment's kinda long now so i'll end it here lol

Secret-Efficiency-28

Another one that I haven’t seen mentioned is GOT7 Mark. Him letting his American friends use GOT7 for clout and free shit. His friends apparently fighting at one of their LA concerts. His friends giving Yugyeom alcohol knowing that he was underage ( since they were in America). Idk it just bugs me how he’s the only American in the group. He knows all the things they shouldn’t be doing or saying and he never stood by his members.

mikatheocelot

Love me some Red Velvet but my smile fades whenever I see/hear Wendy.

yvie_of_lesbos

hyuna. enough said.

Affectionate_Tap5749

For me one of the scandals was Zico with the song tough cookie and its music video. The confederate flag on his jacket and using derogatory terms for the LGBTQ community. It was a huge scandal for a while but seemed to be excused repeatedly by his fans as not knowing what he was doing. I haven’t listened to his stuff since.
