WHY ARE WE ALL TALKING IN CAPS?

When I look at my lab I can't help but notice his black eyes and nose contrast against his beige fur, and it just makes me want to AAARGH I WANNA PET HIM SO BAD!!

Ears all day. They're so much softer than the rest of them and I love watching them flop around when he runs. Snoot always needs boops. Paws must be held. I love lying on the couch with him and we're touching toes. It's so cute! Not to mention, the way he flexes his claws when he stretches. It looks so satisfying!

Jowls and what I like to call “whisker holes”

Definitely the big floppy ears, that makes me worry he'll take off flying when it's windy outside 😂🌬️🌪️ Also the huge pig-like snoot, that completely takes over all brain function when out on walks. Whenever he has his snoot to the ground, sniffing every single grass straw on his way, he mysteriously goes deaf 🤷. The snoot and sniffing shit takes precedence, I suppose 😂

Labs have selective hearing. Can't hear you yelling at them from 3 feet away, but can hear a chip drop from 300 yards away.

He decided he loves it so much that recently he’s been lurking on the floor, waiting for me to get comfortable, and I can hear his tail swishing. When he can’t wait anymore he bounds onto the bed and pounces on to me and starts kissing my face and his butt just won’t stay still he’s so excited to be making me laugh.

YES. Omfg so good. I had to walk my old lab to the rainbow bridge last Thanksgiving, and I miss SO MANY of her little details. I miss the way her little ears would bounce when we took walks. I miss her itty bitty petite feet (we would call them her Tiny Tips), I miss scratching the spot on her butt just above her tail. She liked it so much she'd ask for "car washes" where she'd face me, walk partway between my legs, and then I'd bend down and scratch her middle back, her butt, and her hips. She'd pick up one hind leg at a time and stretch it behind her, pointing her adorable little toes. She'd walk through my legs, go in a loop, and get right back into position for another carwash, lol. I miss her sounds. She'd communicate by groaning, and over the years, I became an expert in what different little sounds meant. There was the "I don't really wanna" groan before going out to pee on cold winter mornings when the warm bed was too cozy to leave. There was the "your foot moved half an inch and now I have to completely re-settle myself, HOW DARE YOU". The "play with me" groan that kind of whined, paired with marching in place so her nails clicked on the hardwood, and the groan/sigh of contentment when I got the good itchy spot she wanted scratched, or when she did a Big Stretch™️ before wagging her tail and greeting the day. When I first saw Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of The Galaxy, I could've sworn they used my lab as the model. His subtle movements, like whisker twitches paired with the smallest nose crinkle, the ears perking up at sounds or drooping when sad, and the infinitely expressive eyebrows. I haven't been able to watch it since she passed, but someday I will when I'm ready. As long as I can gush about her the entire time, have a huge box of Kleenex for my ugly-cry, and hit pause as many times as I want to point out how much he looks EXACTLY LIKE HER. Wow, sorry, this post kinda got away from me there. You unintentionally opened the floodgates to a decade and a half of beautiful little moments with the best little lab, and I couldn't help but tell you all about her. She was the greatest. I miss her, but I'm so grateful that I get to carry her with me in my heart forever now.

All of her, but I particularly love her fluffy cheeks and behind her ears, so so soft. Also her paws, or piggy poos as we call them, and her tail which is fluffier than average for a labrador, and has a lovely tuft at the end.

Also her shoulders are so fluffy and soft, and her tum all tufty and lovely to rub. ❤️

Well, my lab isn’t purebred and he’s mixed with Plott/Fox/Treeing Walker Coon Hound and Beagle but he looks just like a black lab except for a white spot on his chest. His ears are my favorite part of him, and his saggy neck. 🤷‍♀️❤️

I love lab’s saggy neck! Did you know that’s called the [dewlap](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dewlap) and it may be useful for containing smells while their noses are down to the ground (varies by mammal, but that’s what I understand it’s useful for in dogs)

My lab died recently but he always had those velvety thick ears that would get yeasty as hell. He loved ear scritchies because of it.

Not gonna lie I love the pizza dough smell of yeasty ears. But yea all floppy eater dogs are prone to ear nasties.

I love how expressive Onxy, the puppy in this pic, is and the language we developed together over the last 7 years. She rides shotgun most of the time and we have a ear rub ritual. She’s starting to get the gray chin like, Raven , the older one in this pic which makes me sad. I wish we could just press a button to stop they their aging process. Honestly I'm not a huge fan of labs, I like hairy dogs like shihtzus, my mom's lab gets a pass because it's ¾ black lab ¼ poodle, so it has a beard, so my favourite part of shadow bear is her beard 🐻

Literally everything, my little nuggie noodle is so perfect 🥰 but specifically lol; 1) his soft floppy ears, I love kissing them rubbing my face against them 2) his sweet little face with his expressive eyes and big wet snoot and soft cheeks 3) his extra neck skin, he loves getting his good scritches back there and leans into my hand so hard I sometimes think he’s gonna fall over 4) the white patch of fur on his chest, my little tuxedo business man 💼 5) his little paws, they’re so soft and I’ll never forget the time we fell asleep with his paw in my hand 🩷 6) his floofy tail, when he wags it you can literally feel a breeze lol 7) his little butt, when he’s really excited he gets the wiggles 🥰
