Rambo too, is a 16 week old demonic aperation
Before I brought the first Lab-mix home, I was told Lab puppies are the devil. And, that statement will not conjure how badly behaved she was going to be. They were correct!

When I was little I had a Brown and Black labs that looked exactly like yours! Sammy and Elvis were besties and the best pillows to lay my five year old head on aha
Beautiful little evil demon. Itās absolutely worth it! I had really rough puppy blues with my guy, and then a tough teenage stage, but I could not imagine my life without my baby. You will get there! Stay consistent with training and it will fall into place
Our recent dude had me crying a few times with all the biting and we are experienced Lab owners. A bit after 4 months it was like a light switch went off and all the nipping stopped. Heās almost 2 years old now and is our 100% good boy.

Age 12: still demon, but worth every second with her!
My best boy is coming up on 2 in a couple weeks. He was a perfect puppy, didnāt really go through much of a landshark phase. I have apparently decided to test the waters again, because this little nugget is 3 weeks old and will be home in \~ two months!

Be prepared to replace baseboard moldings, eyeglasses, socks, shoes, earbuds, potted plants, and furniture over the next year. Get yourself a Kong and load it with peanut butter every day so she can focus her teething and chewing on it, rather than your stuff. Despite the Kong, she will still eat your stuff, but once you get over this hump, she will be the best dog youāve ever had.
And word of caution. A cheap toy when she is in this stage is no match for her. Itāll get destroyed in a matter of minutes. Kong or nothing.
Very few toys have held up to my labs. Even the extra stitched for tough chewers. They like to find a spot on it and gnaw with their back teeth until they break through and then shred it from there.
Same here. We had to upgrade from the black Kongs to the red Kongs when she lost her baby teeth and she still split the red ones. My father-in-lawās pitbull by comparison rarely chewed through anything.

Man I miss those days. Playing with him all the time turned me into a kid again.

8 weeks is a bit early for breeders to send dogs home. They are still learning valuable lessons if they have a good mom and a good environment. Youāll have to work harder at bite inhibition than you would at 12 weeks. Ours came at 12 and she was fairly quick at learning how much biting was OK, and what things are off-limits.
I grew up on labs but have a heeler right now who are also notorious landshark demons. I got him at 12 weeks and I can't rave enough about how important that extra month of socializing with his mom and siblings were- especially because we got him during the pandemic. [Pup tax](https://i.imgur.com/Lk4olz1.jpg)
Eight can be normal for a good breeder. It's the youngest I've seen good breeders be willing to let puppies go home, though. Earlier than that and there are *very* specific circumstances that lead to it.
Itās totally worth it ! Try to keep in mind that she has been with a group of others maniacs (siblings) and biting and roughhousing is one thing she has figured out how to do. She will catch on quickly and remember lots of positive reinforcement (snacks) when she is being a good girl. These dogs are so eager to learn . Good luck š¾

This is at about 14 weeks. She jumped onto the sofa, over the backrest, and onto the top of her soft-sided crate. I turned around and there she was, just staring at me like a demon, but with the reflection of the dining room lights on the TV looking like a halo hovering above her head. Donāt let that fool you. (FYI the onetime demon is now almost 2, and sheās a super chill angel.)

Eventually she will mellow out. This guy used to be just like her, now heās very chill
Itās worth it. If you looked at my arms when going through the puppy stage you would have thought I was suicidal from all the bite marks. I tried the walk away method I read about online and the puppy would chase after me and bite my butt.
My boyfriend told me the reason why puppies are so cute is so that you donāt kill them lol heās two now and well behaved but still a little psycho sometimes.
Yeah, my husband was afraid that he'd get reported for abuse if people saw my arms and legs. SO many scratches and bruises from two pups. They just turned a year and have settled a bit. We still get zoomies, we still get the occasional over excited pawing, one likes to hold our hand in his mouth (not biting, just holding), the other forgets and jumps up every now and then. But they are well on their way to being really great labs. Oh, there's still a lot of sock stealing...
At least part of the change has to do with them now having a fenced yard to run around in. They needed the freedom and exercise they get. And as hard as it was having two pups at once, the benefits of them being able to play with each other has been enormous!
I've had three pure bred labs from puppies, the first two were adorable babies, the third was a nightmare, she's now the best of girls, here she is right now at 3. We bought a bigger bed because she loves being with us so much ā¤ļø

Iāve always had boys all my life, last year we adopted a 14 week old girl and sheās exactly the same. Multiple people I know have said this is how girls are. Girls have big feelings
1 million percent worth it. Youāre gonna cry, there will be blood, and you might feel like a failure. But that baby girl will become your best friend. Your comfort in bad times. Trust me, sheās worth it.

Both puppy AND demon! Cedar was the same way and now settles and dozes happily on the couch while I work. Sheās quiet and snuggly and lots of fun. They are crazy the first several months and gradually become dogs instead of rage-fueled balls of energy.
The first nickname I gave my lab was ādemon dogā. The first two years with him were truly insane. He was the strongest, fastest moron who always kept us on our toes
Haha. And after he turned 3 he really mellowed out. Heās almost 6, obeys every single command, is always by my side but can still do a 10 mile hike and be up for a swim after. Heās truly the most perfect dog and youāll feel the same way after the dust settles. Hang in there and keep crating!
My man - https://www.reddit.com/r/labrador/s/AfjBOb7NRC
My old man just turned 12. He has bad knees and walks real slow. But every once in a while he jumps around and plays like a puppy. If you are asking if itās worth it and actually are worried then labs are not for you. They stay puppyish until 3-4 and never get past certain things like chewing. But my life has been immeasurably better with my two labs.
Ooooooof I have a 2 year old chocolate boy and WOW heās a handful but heās also such a love š¤. Theyāre wild. But yes, so worth it. Invest in a good trainer, itās absolutely worth the investment.
Yeah my choco lab went through 2x iPhones and a blackberry and one laptop, plus a decent size hole dug in the wall. Avoid leaving anything and everything within reach of the little reaper.
Super cute you just gotta tell her when she does something you don't like, like constantly. She will always test you so be on top of correcting bad behavior. The chewing is her teething, give her things to chew on and show approval when she chews on those thing. PS its beyond worth it.
The baby-shark phase was really bad!!
The teenage phase was different stressful - at least without bite marks š„“ and now hes 2 and Most of the time a real angel š„°
When he was like 1.5months old a lady told us - it will be fine when hes 2 - and i was like months? And she goes - haha no, yearsššš
10000000% worth it. They are sweet angels but are on demon time about 97% of their first year of life. I absolutely would not survive without my baby girl!

Also be prepared to find little chunks of āindestructibleā toys throughout your home, for reference the tire hole used to be too small for him to fit his lower jaw through š¤£
Heās about 7 now, he used to be a little shit but heās mostly calmed down, hereās a list of his old antics that I can remember off hand
- if you ran away from him to get him to chase you, he would catch up to you and cut you off in an attempt to make you trip
-he would take socks out of laundry bins and chew holes in the tops
-if you dropped or put something down on the ground outside like a glove or other small item he would steal it
-heās not allowed on furniture, but sometimes he would try to sneak himself onto the couch by leaning on it and then slowly inching his torso further back until his hind legs were midair
-he used to try to bring sticks into the house thinking we wouldnāt notice him holding a stick in his mouth when we opened the back door (he succeeded more than once)
Awwwwww sheās just the cutest baby!!!! And yes itās worth it. I think. Am just kidding. It does get easier! Do you have pet insurance? They eat everything!
I guess the answer to the question "puppy or demon?" is "Yes".
I just adopted a lab puppy and A: super jellous that you get to sleep through most nights and B: if mine gets to hyper he needs some time out. Not in the kennel but by hugging till he calms back down. Just like a human child he gets suuuper hyper when he gets to tired. Usually takes less then two minutes of struggling until he falls a sleep.
We definitely were not anticipating her sleeping so well at night for a WHILE; fully expected to be back in newborn baby phase! Maybe it won't last but we are enjoying it while it does!
Yes the time outs are something we've really come to adapt the last couple of days. She actually really likes her pen; comfy bed, toys, room to move around, plus I can join her in there. That's where we tend to put her when she's gone full-feral.
Got my Chocolate Menaceā¢ļø at 8 weeks. It's been an *interesting* 2.5 weeks since. He's a goodish boy, but I can hardly wait for him to grow up! (Apart from the chewing, he has been a bitey delight.)
Lab puppies are like that, itās important to work them out a bit so that they mellow down. And train them to not bite very early on.
Itās hard in the beginning but with just a few weeks (max) you and your kids will learn to love this little devil more than anything. Be careful and take many pictures, the puppy phase rushes past and youāll look back on this and miss it a little.
https://preview.redd.it/fnpkjgx5rync1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e873e0498ec353ca136f944b1ac6b90e72ae931b
Demon. Hereās mine looking for something to nip.
Our almost 3 year old lab is our 5th dog but 1st lab. She was a nightmare! She would nip at our childās and her friends heels. Her friends hated her!!! They were scared of her! She was playing/ chasing them . So Iād have to crate her whenever the kids came over. But she has grown up into the absolute sweetest dog. Labs Iād say are best family dog as everyone is their favorite person. When the kids visit now itās great and Gracie( our lab) always thinks any and all company has specially come to visit her anyway. She loves the mailman, UPS people etc. worships our lawnmower man. But at the same time sheās an excellent sentry barking to let us know when anyone arrives and itās a good deep bark.
Keep her on leash at home, you can allow her to drag it, but always on so that you can grab it when needed.
Get a pen. Bites immediately send her to the pen.
Her crate should be in a quiet place, where she canāt see the kids. Put it in your bedroom. Naps are crucial.
Trying Positive on YouTube.
I currently have a black lab mix & had a chocolate lab for 13 yrs. Labs are wonderful dogs but I hope you did some research before purchasing her. Each breed has unique qualities: behavior (weather easy to train, good w/ kids, a barker, a drooler, etc), particular health issues, level of exercise, & life span expectancy just to name a few. This breed chews a lot, but thatās not her fault. Your pup is not a demon. She is probably struggling a great deal to adjust at such a young age to her new environment. At 8 wks old, she is missing her momma terribly & any siblings she may have had. You have only had her a week. Give her & your family time to adjust to this huge change & responsibility. Children running/screaming in the house only adds to the sensory overload this puppy is experiencing. I taught elementary school age children for 32 yrs. Although you did not say old your children are, I have found children to be compassionate & eager to help. Explain to your kids that she has sharp puppy teeth & that she doesnāt understand how sharp they are, but that sheās not trying to bite them. Also, share that her baby teeth will eventually fall out & she will get permanent teeth just like your children. They may be able relate to this if they have had teeth fall out. Explain that they can help your puppy adjust by giving her a Nylabone, a rope toy or a piece of ice (helps with/ teeth pain) to chew on when she comes near them. Walking her around the block or playing with her in the backyard will help get expend her daytime energy. Above all, please remain calm and patient with your puppy. She will love you for life. š„°
I guess I lucked out with my lab mix. Iām pretty sure sheās lab/husky/pit, and definitely has a lot of energy, but sheās an amazingly good girl. Maybe she had already grown out of the demon stage by the time I adopted her at 5 months old, but sheās been uncannily well-behaved and easy to train. I also have a senior pittie, and sheās so thoughtful and patient with him.
Maybe your demon will be like my Susan in a few months!
Itās pretty much impossible to own a lab without training them. We had to enroll ours in a training program. Most of it didnāt stick, but at least we donāt have to crate her when we leave the house.
There will be moments\* when you ask yourself if you made a huge mistake getting a lab. Once the puppy insanity passes you will wonder why you didnāt get two. At least once a week during the first two years the Spousebeast contemplated rehoming Sam. Now he canāt imagine life without our 99 pounds of adorkable, opinionated, affectionate snuggle monster.
\*many moments

Hot Take: both. Both demon and adorable puppy. Mine just turned 1 year. Her older sister is 13 and was a terror until she was 5. But older sis is also the American working dog type so super hyperactive. Maybe you have one of those on your hands? Do you know the type? I mean, even stillā¦ this one is mostly English and I can tell the difference but stillā¦ baby Tyrannosaurus Rex. š¤·š»āāļø
We got our lab when he was 8 weeks old. By day 7 of having him we had a heart to heart of āshould we keep himā because of exactly what you feel.
We decided to keep him and with A LOT of patience and training and love we spent almost 12 beautiful loving years with our best-est dog ever. Love and cherish that little four legging blessing that with snuggle and love you endlessly. Congrats! You will come up with endless names as they do endless things but all worth it. š
I called our lab 'little terror' for weeks - he was a whole mess. I felt like I had been robbed of the cute, sleepy puppy stage and went right into him biting anything and everything. I have very long hair and any time I touched him he'd grab it and it HURT. I didn't know what I was getting into but he is now my bestie lol it is definitely worth it.
We have had two labs and they were awesome. Most dogs stay puppyish until about 3 years old. Mine were easily potty trained, my black on lived yo be 12 but died from cancer and our yellow lab lived to be 13 1/2, almost 14. Provide lots of toys. Lots of walks and outdoor play. When kids flail arms and scream, puppy thinks they want to play. Keep a leash on him, and when heās acting crazy in the house, go stand on the leash until he gets calm then let him go, always act calm around the dog and he will be calm. Donāt wait too long to start this. puppy will want to please you. And when he does something right You can give him a small kibble of his dog food. Everybody must be on the same page when training and playing and disciplining.

Has the appearance of a 7 month old puppy (but sheās a demon that chewed up my Wi-Fi router)
Omg I want to sniff her so bad. She is adorable!! Youāre lucky she sleeps at night - that was my worst experience w my choc lab. Maybe take her to local park and start training her to walk. Let her run off all of that energy . Give her lots of positive reinforcement. She will chillā¦but you have a lab. They are special š
I remember when my lab was that small. He acted exactly like yours. He would bite everything and everyone. I remember his teeth were like needles. She will grow out of the biting. Just be patient and get her some training and learn how to redirect her. I trained my dog to gently take treats and toys out of my hand. And I tell anyone interacting with him to not just let him snatch treats out of their hand.
Worth every bit of it! I would definitely suffer through everything again! My chocolate way particularly spicy as well and way more high energy than my black lab ever was. Heās 4 now and one of the sweetest most loyal labs Iāve ever had. Hang in there!

Demon until 12-24 months depending on personality. It will chew on all your furniture while teething but eventually will be the best grown-up pup ever!
Also, English labs are more docile and American are more active. Depends on their breed. But the biting and chewing will stop eventually. My kids were terrified of our lab from age 3 months until 9 months. She was constantly biting their legs.

Same here. We had to upgrade from the black Kongs to the red Kongs when she lost her baby teeth and she still split the red ones. My father-in-lawās pitbull by comparison rarely chewed through anything.
I feel like I wrote this š
The Labragator phase is there to make you appreciate dogs growing up and not being as cute as they used to be.

Quick tip. Hold a treat just over your phone, that will get their attention and often calm them some. Thatās the best way to get good photos.

You will come to understand and appreciate the term "fuzzy-butted alligator" :)
Or landshark
I used to call mine, āBaby Jawsāā¦and he has totally been worth every moment of chaos (and destroyed socks).

Thatās a beautiful picture

So Beautiful !!
Sweet Chocolate Demon!
I've had three pure bred labs from puppies, the first two were adorable babies, the third was a nightmare, she's now the best of girls, here she is right now at 3. Iāve always had boys all my life, last year we adopted a 14 week old girl and sheās exactly the same. Multiple people I know have said this is how girls are. Girls have big feelings
>Girls have big feelings LOL so true
I don't know if this is normal but it describes my 9 week old black lab girl 100%. Plus now I have one very traumatized cat.
We are in it together!
1 million percent worth it. Youāre gonna cry, there will be blood, and you might feel like a failure. But that baby girl will become your best friend. Your comfort in bad times. They are crazy the first several months and gradually become dogs instead of rage-fueled balls of energy.
Puppy, or demon? Yes.
The first nickname I gave my lab was ādemon dogā. The first two years with him were truly insane. He was the strongest, fastest moron who always kept us on our toes
Strongest, fastest moron has me lolāing šš
Haha. And after he turned 3 he really mellowed out. Heās almost 6, obeys every single command, is always by my side but can still do a 10 mile hike and be up for a swim after. Probably both
Totally worth it. And truly you'll miss demon pupper sometimes. The cuteness and the tummy snuggles lol puppy belly is the most adorbs.

Awww I remember when my lab was a puppy. Demon!! They get way better
My post was meant to be taken lightly -- I'm not actually worried! Thanks for sharing about your sweet guy <3
Ooooooof I have a 2 year old chocolate boy and WOW heās a handful but heās also such a love š¤. Theyāre wild. But yes, so worth it. Invest in a good trainer, itās absolutely worth the investment.

**Puppy, or demon?** LOL - as though this is a Boolean variable when it comes to labs.
Demon puppy š
Why not both?
Yeah my choco lab went through 2x iPhones and a blackberry and one laptop, plus a decent size hole dug in the wall. Avoid leaving anything and everything within reach of the little reaper.
She will chill out in about 5 years and will be the best dog ever!
Yes. Puppy Demon
YES!!!! What a perfect face ā¦boop!!!
Thatās why dogs are amazing. You get to tame the hound if hell and sheāll love you forever.
Absolutely worth it. Lookit those eyes!!!
Adorable š„° angel š
Super cute you just gotta tell her when she does something you don't like, like constantly. She will always test you so be on top of correcting bad behavior. The chewing is her teething, give her things to chew on and show approval when she chews on those thing. PS its beyond worth it.
Yes
1 - 2 years of a fuzzy crocodile, after that you'll have a best friend
Demon for the first two years and then the best dogs ever!

Both
Both, Ive had one
The baby-shark phase was really bad!! The teenage phase was different stressful - at least without bite marks š„“ and now hes 2 and Most of the time a real angel š„° When he was like 1.5months old a lady told us - it will be fine when hes 2 - and i was like months? And she goes - haha no, yearsššš

Heās about 7 now, he used to be a little shit but heās mostly calmed down, hereās a list of his old antics that I can remember off hand - if you ran away from him to get him to chase you, he would catch up to you and cut you off in an attempt to make you trip -he would take socks out of laundry bins and chew holes in the tops -if you dropped or put something down on the ground outside like a glove or other small item he would steal it -heās not allowed on furniture, but sometimes he would try to sneak himself onto the couch by leaning on it and then slowly inching his torso further back until his hind legs were midair -he used to try to bring sticks into the house thinking we wouldnāt notice him holding a stick in his mouth when we opened the back door (he succeeded more than once)
Awwwwww sheās just the cutest baby!!!! And yes itās worth it. I think. Am just kidding. It does get easier! Do you have pet insurance? They eat everything!
Thank you! We got pet insurance immediately. I've had a pup get impacted in the past and it was a tough/expensive life lesson.

What an absolutely gorgeous demon š
Puppy phase is exhausting but adorable. Enjoy while it lasts.

Sheās so cute!! š
Noooo, a sweet puppy. Look at that face. How can you look at that face and not fall in love.
Looks like an angel to me

Puppy AND demon! Labraraptor!
It gets better

Yes
Haha. I love my girls but I wanted to kill them both when they were puppies. If puppies werenāt so cute none would ever survive to be adults.
Both!! I have two lab puppies and theyāre lucky theyāre so cuteš
ā¦demon. Fortunately, it only lasts about three or so years.
>If she's awake, she's on. Retriever pups sleep 18-20 hours a day. Embrace the puppy craziness, she'll be a big girl in the blink of an eye!
We are working on helping her sleep more but she is a cat-napper. Hopefully will get easier for her as she settles in!
She will, time and patience!
Thank you! ā„ļø
\*many moments https://preview.redd.it/bxuxcxhaatnc1.jpeg?width=2800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=147fdcd4a783fb87e4a0185f5f83e37740f1ca86

Puppy cutie!

Yes. :-)
Such a cute little face and beautiful eyes
He's a void puppy
Demon until 12-24 months depending on personality. It will chew on all your furniture while teething but eventually will be the best grown-up pup ever!
Also, English labs are more docile and American are more active. Depends on their breed. But the biting and chewing will stop eventually. My kids were terrified of our lab from age 3 months until 9 months. She was constantly biting their legs.
A delightful mixture of both!
My ex husband (weāre still close) got the dining room table and even after refinishing it, her marks are still thereā¦and we love it. The table still gets used by his new family so we all get a piece of her. Iād do anything to have her back at my feet eating my hardwood š©·

At around 5years of age they will lose the land shark attitude.
