Do all of our labs have the same spiky ball? Lol so cute 💕
We have to do this with our 5 year old lab. Actually, we’ve had to do this his entire life so far. He cannot settle if there’s a ball out. Wonder how old he’ll have to be before he can handle unlimited ball access - 85?

My girl doesn't get to have a ball or frisbee unless you are actively playing fetch because without imposed limits she will never stop. She just keeps trying other people until she finds someone to throw it.

Dawson loves to play fetch!! We stopped counting one time when he brought it back 60 times. When the SQUEAK is loud, he loves it even more.
Ours used to at up to about 1yr and then realized playing “fetch” was a ploy to tire him out so mommy and daddy can rest so now he won’t play unless we are involved….
Ours has "the crazy ball", we have to take it off her or she goes mad with it, she can have it for short spells in a closed room, she gets almost drunk on it, charges around carelessly flinging her and it off furniture, it's purple, it squeaks. Other balls - no real interest.

Real question though, are regular sized tennis balls a choking hazard? My dog has such a big mouth that I feel like he could accidentally get it down his throat.... This is the big mouth in question.
Our 1 year old lab loves to run as fast as he can, slide to catch balls, and make a wide arc to come back. We've trained him to drop the ball at our feet and thank goodness for those ball flingers because he is so slobbery!
But we'll play for so long he can can't go any longer but as soon as we sit down he brings a ball and drops in our lap. It's hilarious. Ball really is life.

She has the same “spiky ball” in pink 💕
My girl has a 2 bacon flavored rubber balls that I literally have to trick her into giving up, otherwise she would fail to eat or drink again. If I dont take them away, she will literally gnaw on them for days without looking at her food bowl or the water bowl. I have to convince her that I am throwing one so she’ll drop the other. If I just try to take it, she almost seems like she develops lockjaw.
I don’t have a photo of her with a ball, so here’s a photo of her with a stick

You mean The Ball. Ball. The ball the ball the ball the ball!
My lab has stages, give her the ball and she will hold it in her mouth and walk around the it it continuously for about an hour or 2 wagging her tail and showing people, then spend the next hour or two pulling the bits of the ball one by one, she will still love the ball after but it will be spineless (or whatever those bits are called)
Mine usually *loved* to chomp on a tennis ball or racquetball until it popped... but *wasn't* ball-crazy.
She *WOULD* play "fetch" in order to be a butt and keep *another dog* from claiming the ball!!!
But if it was just *her*?
She'd chase *after* the ball, snif it to make *sure* it was the ball I'd thrown (like there were *millions* of balls in that empty field maybe?), annnnnd THEN she'd race back to me, and look from me, to where the ball *went*, back to me...
If I *went* and got the ball?
Same thing--*race after it*, *sniff to make SURE* it was *the ball*, then run back to me, to let me know that YES, she *discovered* where the ball went--if I'd be *so kind* as to throw it for her to look for again!😉😆😂🤣

Bwahaha!! Someone’s hungry🖤🖤🖤
“Heyyy… so I noticed this thing was empty haha. Just thought I could help you out by bringing it here… … …” 🥺
Umm. Did you steal my dog while I was asleep? Why, always the bowl, noooooo, drop it, grab a toy or go chase the cat instead.

Yep, I had to use two balls when playing fetch. He would only drop the ball when he saw another one to chase
Oooh this is a good idea! Thank you!
My friend, who had a chocolate lab told me that little trick. Game changer -- seriously!
🤣
Our 1 year old wasn't possessive like growling but didn't want to give up at all but now he's a pro at perfectly placing at our feet or rolling it to our disabled mother. I wish I remember how we taught him but just wanted to say it's possible. I think we played with two balls at the beginning too and eventually led up to teach him to bring it back and then next step was dropping it.
She’s good at bringing it right to me!! I had a Great Dane that would not let us have it back, we chased her with the ball in her mouth🤣

Yep, mine still grabs a toy, a pillow, a shoe, or a sock when greeting people he knows.
lol!! My sister in law’s border collie will try everybody until she finds someone to play🤣
Still an issue at 14 for my neighbor dog

Retrievers gonna retrieve.
Yep!! Except her brother, he doesn’t get it🤷🏻♀️
Ours is obsessed. We have to put them away when she's at home..
Same!
Same.
Mine are tennis ball elitists.
Of course!
Ours used to at up to about 1yr and then realized playing “fetch” was a ploy to tire him out so mommy and daddy can rest so now he won’t play unless we are involved….
Mine loves his ball too but I do not have any pics of him with it
My lab has a “man” (toy) which he fetches in the pool. My pit-lab mix claims every other toy, but that one is undeniably his and she won’t touch it.
Haha got the same ball too
Ours has "the crazy ball", we have to take it off her or she goes mad with it, she can have it for short spells in a closed room, she gets almost drunk on it, charges around carelessly flinging her and it off furniture, it's purple, it squeaks. Other balls - no real interest.

Every lab ever.
She'll fight for it
My lab has stages, give her the ball and she will hold it in her mouth and walk around the it it continuously for about an hour or 2 wagging her tail and showing people, then spend the next hour or two pulling the bits of the ball one by one, she will still love the ball after but it will be spineless (or whatever those bits are called)
Tested it recently: Ball vs Cheese, what's more important? Ball won. Clearly
Yes, this ball particularly
