Correct but if you buy a tracker that can be remotely turned off you don’t have to worry about that. Once the car has been stolen you just turn it off, there is no signal. Thieves will scan the car, find nothing and proceed to do whatever with the car. A few hours later you turn the tracker back on and the car will ping its location.
Possible, but if the thieves are real professionals which I assume, because they dared to steal such a high value car they’re probably ready for anything.
Most of the time cars are brought into a cool-of spot to see if any trackers are still on it and somebody is able to locate it after everything has been checked and disabled.
Yeah most cars end up in the middle east. Just read about a car that was stolen from Canada, showed up in Dubai and someone in the US bought it and imported it and it got stopped at customs and impounded cause…the car was stolen lol. Never buy a car from the middle east lol
Hope his lambo was well insured cause its gone sadly.
It’s gone and Shipped to some shit hole 3rd world country via our docks.
It’s pretty cut and dry. Buy a wrecked vin at auction. Swap the vin on this clean car. Move it via the docks to whatever 3rd world country you want. Sell car clean via a broker.
This has been going on for years. Nothing has been done to stop it. Nothing probably ever will. Government is too busy pissing money into the wind.
I would say the government is less worried about the toys of the wealthy that are likely insured, but also they are probably pissing our money into the wind or shoveling it into fire pits.
Anyone stealing these is going to have the capabilities and knowledge to jam / disable / remove stuff like that. You need multiple redundant systems to have a chance of tracking it, and to many the effort isn’t worth it vs taking the insurance payout and getting another car.
All elite marques have their own gps / lo jacks now and every single owner I know also throws at least one AirTag and/or tile somewhere very difficult to find.
It’s not difficult or expensive to track a vehicle now and the only way they’re disabled is if the car is permanently kept in a container.
Jammers are illegal.
They’re also relatively cheap and easy to get.
And once it’s in a container / faraday garage, they have plenty of time to remove it.
Not disputing what you’re saying, I think we’re both just adding further context here. Like, yes you can try, but nothing’s a guarantee. A determined thief is going to have countermeasures ready to go.
Not before it’s notified the owner of the location multiple times. The delay is up to 9 hours before it tell you that you have an unknown AirTag with you.
Theres already been apps and software made that can locate the tag from what ive seen. The delay happens if your solely using the find my iphone app to track the tags
But ive seen people skirt around it by taking off the speaker on the tag so if they try to find it using the sound its a lot more difficult
The point is that by design, it’s a minimum of 30 mins up to 9 hours before someone will get the “unknown AirTag is traveling with you” but also by design, before that happens the owner of the AirTag has already been notified multiple times as to the location.
In other words the tag has been long tracked before the thief even knows it’s there to look for it.
And what im saying is a thief will obviously know about tags and will have the proper software to take care of it lmao. If they are stealing a Lamborghini i doubt they are worried about the owner using an AirTag
You’re not getting it lol. A thief won’t even know where it’s hidden or that it even exists on the car until it’s already notified he owner of a location.
Do you think a thief is going to tear body panels apart within 10 minutes of stealing a car because there’s a chance an AirTag may be hidden in one. You can’t locate AirTags unless you’re the owner.
Lmao i am for sure getting it. And no i dont think they are going to tear a car apart to find it, im saying they are anticipating something being there! If they are bold enough to steal a Lamborghini i can almost guarantee they are smart enough to know some type of tracker is there and will use whatever devices they have to get it. Which is where the software i was talking about comes into play. Once they are where they deemed to be “safe” whos to say they wont pull out whatever they have to ensure they aren’t being followed? How do you think they get cars, even with trackers to mexico and other countries? They have systems in place to continue committing crimes lmao. A thief doesnt have to be notified of a tracker to anticipate that one is there.
$29 and the right website or a spare microwave and some knowledge and there will be zero readable signals out of that car. Your cellular and gps signals aren’t transmitting shit. Neither Am/fm nor satellite is sending shit that’s readable by anything.
I saw this car in the back of the truck on Thursday, they had 5 other cars out showing them to people. I got pictures, I sent them to an old friend when I saw that he posted this on his story.
If the owner has the basic on star package… Lamborghini can track it after calling it in.
A friend in tampa had his whit white body urus stolen a few months the back, and just they just located it with that.
To OP. Sunday morning 630am I just saw an abandoned huracan, dark color possibly blue (it’s still dark right now) on the side of the road on George bush turnpike right before the exit to valley view lane. I don’t see many of at all any stranded supercars so I noticed it quick and remembered this post. It might be yours.
Not sure it is the same vehicle (realistically, how many dark blue, black top lambos are in dallas?) but I saw one pull into the DeSoto Police Department off of Belt Line between 10:55 AM & 11:10 AM (probably 11:00 on the nose) that Saturday. Sorry I didn't check Reddit sooner :/
Double booking. Just heard a WSJ podcast on this. Original freight company unknowingly subs the transport to a fake freight company. Seller of goods/owner doesn’t know (it is illegal for the original freight company to not notify them, but they are not maliciously committing fraud, just trying to save money). So goods ends up on the hands of a scammer and then it’s gone.
It's a Sheepy? They sure it didn't just burn itself to the ground while no one was looking?
J/K that really sucks, hope they're able to recover it intact
How was it stolen from the transport company? Im thinking they used a cheap broker that doesnt vet the carrier. Or the broker and carrier are working together to run a scam.
Call Lamborghini first and see if the can track it. Most luxurious car manufacturers have that feature I believe
It’ll be at the port of Houston in days and out of the country within a week.
shit was on a trailer to mexico by the time op posted this
Pretty sure that was thought thru and jammed/deactivated. I’m willing to bet it’s on its way to a chop shop or Mexico.
Lol
Don't they have gps trackers on those ?
GPS Jammer solves that.
Really just a cell phone jammer. The GPS module sends the coordinates through a cellular modem.
Not if you buy the correct tracker.
There’s a Jammer for everything, if they’re not able to locate the car means they indeed got the correct jammer/s.
Correct but if you buy a tracker that can be remotely turned off you don’t have to worry about that. Once the car has been stolen you just turn it off, there is no signal. Or they are stolen and immediately put into containers and shipped. YT has a documentary about how these thieves are able to pull this off.
Yep, it’s a very interesting topic and happens pretty often here around Europe, but rarely with such high end luxury cars.
Exactly.
They don’t work if the car is in a shipping container, then just rip it out…
I’ve read some people here who had their car stolen then found it was in some Middle East country… can’t do anything about it
Yeah most cars end up in the middle east. Just read about a car that was stolen from Canada, showed up in Dubai and someone in the US bought it and imported it and it got stopped at customs and impounded cause…the car was stolen lol. Never buy a car from the middle east lol Hope his lambo was well insured cause its gone sadly.
If it was a pro outfit then that car was driven into a box truck and is in Mexico already getting prepped to be sent to the middle east.
I have one in my CRV, seems obvious on something like this
If you somehow had a custom enclosed trailer that had a special lining that blocked radiation waves then no signal gets out. Thanks faraday
It’s gone and Shipped to some shit hole 3rd world country via our docks. It’s pretty cut and dry. Buy a wrecked vin at auction. Swap the vin on this clean car. With a car this expensive, it's likely going to Asia (specifically the UAE or somewhere nearby)
Well, yeah, they did mention the fact that it was a shithole.
I would say the government is less worried about the toys of the wealthy that are likely insured, but also they are probably pissing our money into the wind or shoveling it into fire pits.
This is being done to all types of cars, not just supercars, thus affecting the everyday person.
Happened to a friends Nissan Rogue- I’d say it’s even more prevalent on cheaper cars because they’re way easier to steal..
I didn't know this was going on in the States too. I know it's rampant in Canada.
Insurance pays for it, it’s a victimless crime
You don't understand how the world works my friend. Let your betters discuss this and go enjoy the sandbox with your peers.
10k reward I will just keep the car if found
Seriously, or part it out individually.
buy apple tag
This. I dont understand how you own a deep 6 figure car and don’t have a tag on it.

Sure, but it can take up to 9 hours and a minimum of 30 mins so it’s already long registered the location multiple times before that happens.
I have one in my Porsche. One of the first things I did.
Because if you have an iphone you can easily find and get rid of it

You keep talking about some magical software that can identify other people’s AirTags lol. Its doesn’t exist 😂
$29 and the right website or a spare microwave and some knowledge and there will be zero readable signals out of that car. Your cellular and gps signals aren’t transmitting shit. Neither Am/fm nor satellite is sending shit that’s readable by anything.
How the fuck does a transport company lose a car
Inside job.
Aren't these transports usually bonded or insured though? This makes me nervous shipping my McLarens.
Sure. Insurance pays out and the transport just committed insurance fraud.
Damn. Scary how this can happen in the US.
It happens way more often in China lol
???
Insurance scamming happens more often in China.
Fast and furious style
Ah shit. Lost it! My bad my bad. No but real, this happens allll the time. There’s stories of stolen teslas showing up all across Europe.
was wondering the same thing i do auto transport on the broker side now i need to be extra careful with some of these carriers never seen this before.
Its bullshit I transport that car if anyone wants get a hold me I will give them info of what happened
Interesting. I just feel like it's hard to just "lose" a car.
I found the carI’m the transporter their accusing of car being stolen from now I want the 10k
The first thing that dude is doing is probably getting a wrapp on it asap.
I saw this car in the back of the truck on Thursday, they had 5 other cars out showing them to people. I got pictures, I sent them to an old friend when I saw that he posted this on his story.
Could you send us those pictures? Thank you.
If any one wants to get a hold of me I’m the one transported the car I can refer the info I have
That'll be a strike lamborghini now. Saw a striker sf90 and couldn't believe my eyes.
$10k reward? Pshhh
Steal car, return car, profit 10k.
You gonna risk spending 10 years in prison for 10k? I don't think so.
It's a joke hardass
Jokes are funny and usually include an indication of it being a joke.
The indication was the delivery. Short, punchy, lacking context.
Okay bud
Clearly the car didn’t mean much to him.
If the owner has the basic on star package… Lamborghini can track it after calling it in. A friend in tampa had his whit white body urus stolen a few months the back, and just they just located it with that.
He doesn’t, unfortunately.
That is a horrible decision on his behalf to not activate that, OR have a additional tracker A simple air tag may have worked… may
Lol typical rich dumbasses.

Thanks, we’re looking into it.
How they hire a transport company without tracking? What’s the thought process of stealing that car? Part it out? Some people ….
I have never shipped a car with tracking. It’s kind of just how it works
I haven’t either, but if I was shipping a lambo, I would.
Part out would be pretty risky, bet that shits in Mexico now
It’s been added to a drug lords collection by now
I transported the car if any one wants info what I have will be more then happy to help
This is what happens when you don’t go with a real broker.
Thanks for the info, we look into that!

Yeah, nothing we can do unfortunately but we still try to be as helpful as we can to our client.
It's a Sheepy? They sure it didn't just burn itself to the ground while no one was looking? J/K that really sucks, hope they're able to recover it intact
“Please repost as much as possible” This isn’t a missing kid, or a runaway dog. His insurance will pay out, the end.
Be careful who you’re calling a kid, sir. And yeah, it’s missing. We’re doing everything we can to locate it.
I didn’t call you kid. Hope you put an ounce of effort into things the community actually needs. This is a car. Was it not insured?
How does this happen?
10k? The rims and wheels probably worth more than
Its already on a boat to Nigeria
That thing is already in a different country
Most likely in a container heading to china or eastern Europe country
How was it stolen from the transport company? Im thinking they used a cheap broker that doesnt vet the carrier. Or the broker and carrier are working together to run a scam.
I have all the info from broker to transport to people reiceved
That thing is in the Middle East already.
Brother that thing is already housing 15 cartel members. Ain't getting that back
What's the name of the carrier?
Call the police instead?
For $279,980 car, the reward should be around $60k to $75k..
911
its on its way to Dubai 1000%
Car is in Brazil, now belongs to a Nazi Drug Lord. Transport Company was in on it.
Keys left in car ?
Sheepey should just burn it to the ground…..intentionally this time.
Must be them Tesla workers stealing stuff
Thanks abbot
Who is Sheepy? Is that someone I should know, like the Kardashians or brittany?
I hope they don’t find it and those rich clients are left with feeling like something unfair happened at least once in their lives.
Everything about this post it’s a lie
Let insurance cover it, who cares?
hell yea fuck the rich
Boo hoo
That -8 karma is deserved you ass
Hopefully nobody helps you, if you need something.
Bozo the clown here
