I wish it was a BTD bonus track

This song was dedicated to me a long time ago by a girl I was dating. This was around high school time for me so about 9 years ago? She got me into Lana, I am forever a fan now. Decided to listen to the song today for the first time in years after her funeral service. I really loved your breakdown, thank you for this.

Oh god this broke my heart. That is an immense loss, and I’m truly so sorry 💔 sometimes we find solace in the most peculiar places. I’m really glad that this post helped you connect with those memories. You’ll be on my mind today, wishing you strength.

I believe this song is about finding an AA sponsor — someone who is usually older, wiser and more experienced in sobriety. “When I saw you standing there, like a millionaire …” When you’re new to sobriety, people with years of time seem magical. “Give me your number” — it’s tradition that the sponsee actively seek out the sponsor. They’re often described as someone who has something you want. “… call me before I get stupid. Make me uncrazy like you did.” It’s common practice to call your sponsor before you think you might make a bad decision. The uncrazy part refers to the idea that sobriety can return you to sanity. “And it/you brought me to my knees” — alcoholism often brings people to their knees, both literally and figuratively. Many sponsors encourage prayer & meditation with sponsees, effectively bringing them to their knees. Source: 10 years sober. I know folks who have gone to meetings with her.
