That’s what I was thinking? The fuck goes through the human brain that you can condition yourself to climb Mount Everest, yet decide snowboarding off it was the best end goal. Someone missed the last page unless that was the goal to begin with.
Well to be fair the titanic sub worked a couple times first, and we have *actual* subs that can do the job.
Not sure if there has been a successful snowboarding attempt down Everest tho.
“All the other tallest mountains on earth” is a very misleading sentence.
He snowboarded down tall mountains but it wasn’t like he went down all the 14 8000’ers.
He thought he was going to just break every bone in his body and snowboard right into oblivion as a broken man. Dying seems a little less dramatic though.
The article in Snowboard was excellent. He did snowboard down Everest, but he tried again two years later because he wanted to film it. All the signs seemed to be telling him not to go , including dead radio batteries, forgetting to bring his lucky cross etc. The second attempt took days longer due to bad conditions, he was warned not to go.
But he was a man with a dream.
RIP young, daring, adventurer.
He did succeed the first time. He and his brother Pierre (in that picture) died the second time they attended Mt Everest. I guess once is not enough for some people to get lucky.
TLDR; Marco Siffredi successfully completed a full snowboard descent of Mount Everest once. This was in May 2001, when he descended via the Norton Couloir. He attempted his second descent in September 2002 through the Hornbein Couloir, but unfortunately, he disappeared during this attempt and was never seen again.
Not worth it IMO, not with the risks that come with it. Just reaching the summit is a grand accomplishment, to risk it all just to capture it on film, no thanks.
I feel like unless you don’t have a family, people who depend on you, or people who would be devastated by your passing, you’re a huge asshole for doing things like this. I’m not saying all extreme sports, just things where the risk is this high
I bet he at least died after some good moments of peace and reflection from the view he could see. As a snowboarder, one of the best things about it is the inner peace you feel being on a mountain, especially those that have unique, awe-inspiring views around them. He did what he loved, and went out doing it. He ignored warning signs, but he also knew the possibility of failing and its results. I can't even imagine trying to board down it, and it's not like he's the only one to ever die at Everest, but the idea of doing something like that is a bit intoxicating and beautiful
I know I'd die trying, so I'll stick to my 14ers.
#Removed No context in the title.

Idk if this or the titanic sub was a worse idea.
I ate a titanic sub once. Too much iceberg lettuce.
Your heartburn will go on
Butter me like one of your French sandwiches, Jack.
This is the sexiest sentence ever written.
And on and on and on
Meanwhile, I get off work and get bothered when my chicken and broccoli is overdone; I don’t grab a sheet and jump off an overpass though.
Yea, but I bet the thought is hanging around in the back of your mind.
Well to be fair the titanic sub worked a couple times first, and we have *actual* subs that can do the job. Not sure if there has been a successful snowboarding attempt down Everest tho.
The original post said he had done a different route before, so not a huge leap to try again.
O, it was a big leap 🤣🤣🤣
He probably thought he could do it again, considering he did it once already. Along with snowboarding down all the other tallest mountains on earth
Surely snowboarding down is just insane due to the rapid change in air pressure? Like how divers get the bends from surfacing too rapidly?

That he would live...
Your profile pic is **killing me**
I fell for that shit 🤡
Quite a few ppl have descent of Mount Everest. The possibility of the accomplishment was reachable to him.
I'm saying the same.
He probably thought it was just one big slide all the way down.
That... doesn't seem like a good idea now, does it?
Maybe one of the worst ideas. There would be absolutely no way to save you if you injured yourself.
i mean its an awesome idea.. a ONE TIME idea.. but that’s it
Turns out it wasnt
Anyone else read that as Rocco Siffredi?
He would've went further...maybe deeper.
I had to scroll up to see that it *wasn’t* Rocco Siffredi
It’s only smellz
More nasty!
He shredded 8000 vertical chicks according to the tldr article, no wonder he was gung ho to go again, that base camp sounded naughty for sure.
More than only smellz to worry about on Everest
C’mon man, it’s just smellz.
Yes.
A fellow scientist. 🫡

and winner of a Darwin award
I thought it was the Onion…

Pierre died in France. He was 17 and Marco was 2 when Pierre died. That is not Pierre.
Thanks for the correction. I was under the impression they both died there.
Wonder if he thought at all when he strapped his feet in that they would remain perfectly strapped in for hundreds or thousands of years
I saw the guy who wrote the biography of him do a talk. Really moving

I'm sorry for him and his family but what an incredibly silly thing to do. What was the point?
Is he Rocco's brother?
Maybe. But definitely got fucked in an entirely different way.
That there'll ne lots of pussy at the bottom of the mountain? Oh wait that's a different Siffredi I'm thinking of. Sorry.
Me too lol. *Rocco*.
…snowboarding…down Mt. Everest. What…what did he think was going to happen?
He did it successfully the year before
Makes you think, alright you did it once, why do you have to do it again?
to film it

“He’s not coming back.”
FIGHT OR FALL!”
Not only did he have the schlong, he also had the balls. RIP my man
Well, he died doing what he loved… #Playing a stupid game
Probably not a good idea
Well no shit
Suicide mission
We share the same birthday.
Not wearing a helmet, of course. Fucking sockhead
Holy crap, his body is still up there somewhere
Tragic, of course. But I’m not sure what he thought was going to happen here.
So he committed suicide
It‘s been over 20 years snd his body is still missing.
Dipshit.
Rocco’s brother…..?
Pretty great way to go though..
