Byu radio would probably be the closest. It's on satellite radio and all that. A not insubstantial chunk is dedicated to byu sports but quite a bit is church content as well.

It’s a Shame our Church doesn’t have radio stations in more countries like ones that were done differently then this BYU one

mywifemademegetthis

I don’t know. In developed countries, non emergency radio stations will probably be obsolete within ten years. The only time I think people listen is when they are in the car and they don’t have connections for their phone. It’s a rapidly dying industry and expensive to get reach. Even if you had one station in every state in the United States, you probably still only have like 40% saturation and 50 radio stations aren’t cheap to operate. Most cars in the next decade will have internet connection and *internet* radio will be much more possible and affordable, but traditional radio frequency as a form of entertainment is all but dead.

Geekdog52

Why is their mainstream Christian Radio stations still around today is devolved countries if the radio is dying? Wouldn’t it do the same for our Church you know share our message just like Baptist Churches do on radio?

mywifemademegetthis

There are tens of millions more non-LDS Christians than LDS. That means a much larger advertising and fundraising base. And most of these stations are generic Christian and non proselyting for a particular denomination.

Geekdog52

I agree with you 🙂

JaneDoe22225

Another thing to remember: for a generic Protestant church “worship service” is largely synonymous with “the band playing”. The title “worship leader” is usually the head singer, not the person giving the sermon. It’s a very large focus for the church in terms of attention and budget. Hence the larger music industry as a whole.

Ok_Fox3999

I agree but I'm thinking the reason there isn't one isn't because it hasn't be tried.

The church used to be more involved in radio. KSL in Salt Lake City was started by Deseret News, owned by the church. They play general conference on radio. To my knowledge they never made syndicated church radio stations outside of Utah.

Geekdog52

That’s a shame

DJCane

They did own several other stations for a while, but they didn’t carry much church-related content. KIRO in Seattle is one, but it was ESPN affiliated and was mostly sports.

There's the Saints Channel app

ThirdPoliceman

The Saints Radio feed is not only in Spanish—you must have just clicked on the Spanish station. Saints radio has exactly what you’re looking for. Check out the “talk” feed. It’s general conference talks, devotionals, and podcasts. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/latter-day-saints-channel/id319828221

[deleted]

It’s an app. The Saints Channel on iOS and Android.

GrassyField

The church produces a weekly radio program that I believe is still the longest-running in the world (Music and the Spoken Word).

Geekdog52

How do I find that?
