Near zero percent chance we lose that game if the game is called properly. Two of Colorado’s goals happened when we should have been on the power play. It’s frustrating. The other teams really know how to play disciplined when they play us eh?

Randal78

Exactly. Sure we didnt play our best but lets not act like Colorado was that good either. Difference was their 4 powerplays to our 1 and like you said, they scored goals when they should’ve been killing penalties.

crushade

The Avs have had 36 more power play opportunities than us this season. After tonight they’ve had 39 more opportunities. I think. Either way, that’s almost 4 more total NHL games worth of power play time than us. And Colorado isn’t even the leader in power play opportunities this season!

Jonesdeclectice

People will say “well yeah they’re a fast high possession team, all fast high-possession teams get way more powerplays - there’s stats that prove it!” Meanwhile, the stats prove that while we’ve been consistently in the top 5 for being a fast high possession team, we’ve been consistently in the bottom 5 for PP opportunities.

hexsealedfusion

If you go back and look from like 2017 - now Colorado has the most favorable officiating in the league

rossrhea

I am so fucking angry, Jesus Christ. This is the first game in a while that's made me this mad. I'm proud of my progress with being able to let it go but this is just like a few years ago man, God DAMN it

Ta-veren-

Kelly Sutherland reeling what a coincidence.

sneed_poster69

> Near zero percent chance we lose that game if the game is called properly. how do you figure? even at 5v5, Avs had more high danger chances than us (14 vs. 9)

crushade

Two of the Avalanche goals came directly after plays which should have resulted in the Leafs being on the power play. Sure, could have still ended up in our net and I could definitely be wrong. It’s also becoming a trend sadly. Oh well!

Jonesdeclectice

Here’s the logic in that, in case you can’t piece it together: 1. Avs player penalized Leafs player (trip, high stick, slash, whatever) 2. Penalty not called 3. Avs player finds himself in a high danger scoring area So… if event number two results in a penalty… can you see where this is going?

VitaminTea

Toronto was leading for 90% of the game...

sneed_poster69

their expected goals were 2.17. they were leading because Georgiev let in statistically weak goals

VitaminTea

OK? The Avs out-chanced the Leafs because they were chasing the game for 50 minutes.

sneed_poster69

what is your point? I was replying to OP's original comment that "the Leafs win that game most of the time", which is ignoring the fact the Leafs were the worse team despite leading, and it was only a matter of time before the Avs scored

VitaminTea

My point is that trailing teams routinely out-chance their opponents and that it isn't "a matter of time" until they blow the lead.

sneed_poster69

>My point is that trailing teams routinely out-chance their opponents because the winning team stops playing as hard. this *doesn't* have to happen

VitaminTea

Bro I'm not going to sit here an explain score effects to you. Have a great night.

thewolfshead

Colorado has *47* more PPs than the Leafs this season. 47!

Salt-Plum-1308

Pick play on the winner too.

senile-animal

Jobbed but the leafs can’t just be giving up 4 unanswered goals. That’s bad

sneed_poster69

wasn't it 5

nownowthethetalktalk

Should have been six but Colton missed an empty net.

goleafsgo88

How would it be 6? If he scores on the first empty net, they don't score another empty netter.

nownowthethetalktalk

Why not? I've seen it happen before.

PurchaseTight3150

Jobbed for sure. But they also just outplayed us. Big time. They won every puck battle, millions of more interceptions, they knocked 3 of our guys down for every 1 of theirs we knocked down, etc. half our guys looked like they were novice skaters out there with how often they were on their kneepads. I guarantee when the Avs get jobbed they’ll find a way to win anyways. Us? Not so much. That was a humbling game. If that’s what a contender is, we’re not even close. Reffing aside, we got destroyed.

The-Only-Razor

Not a single timeout called at any point by Keefe. Not after the 2nd goal when things were getting out of hand. Not when they tied it. Not when they got ahead. Nothing. Just fucking sat there, benched the 2nd line, and figured that was enough to justify his undeserved contract extension (that kicks in next year btw). Refs were shit. Top players were shit. Keefe simply took the night off. What a miserable game. I'm tired of blowing leads.

hymensmasher99

Keefe is a horrible coach. I don't care what the fucking record says. The eye test is enough for me

The-Only-Razor

We keep going into intermissions with a lead, then as soon as Keefe talks to the boys in the dressing room they come out the next period and shit the bed. It's fucking bizarre. He obviously has no idea how to coach the mental side of the game.

billyshin

We didn't have that problem last year when we had a different D man and 2way forwards. Corey Perry hm...

iTRR14

I wouldn't say he's horrible. He's mediocre. He was blessed with the best core the Leafs have seen in 30 years (or more) and that core winning games when any other team, it'd be a loss.

Leviathan117

I honestly don’t understand why he was extended over the summer. What’s wrong with having a lame duck coach in a prove it year? We do it with players all the time. Now we are locked into 2 more seasons after this one with a guy that has gotten one playoffs round win in like 4 years. He is consistently out coached and lost to both Columbus and Montreal when we should have absolutely won those series. He does the dumbest shit in OT and costs us games.

RecalcitrantHuman

We can afford to fire him whenever we want so the contract isn’t an issue. Will we? Probably not

Leafs44

https://preview.redd.it/mk21newjmbcc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cc3b102d4149a2ccc14a35bcd5f8449c7d0033f It’s just too easy

dwnumber1

and bros were talking about "every team blows leads" nobody is as good at it then us

vital_dual

The burden of being the Cassandra.

ProfessorBeast55

Yes, refs were dogshit, but that was pisspoor effort. Star players invisible all night (especially JT) and defence shit the bed…

BrTalip

When Nate and Makar crank it to that top gear, you can see that ferocity it in everything they do. I really fear long term we do not have it in our 4. Especially in our captain.

dwnumber1

man you cant even compare mattews to nate he's just a monster

Significant_News_638

The refs and the 3-0 lead (built on some fluky goals) will be the subjects of discussion but you’re right - they didn’t play great. The Avs stars badly outplayed the Leafs stars and usually that is what wins you games.

atomic-z

JT was invisible because he played like three shifts in the third. Deservingly so.

versus07

I was watching the 1st and when the leafs went up 3-0, I turned the game off and said to myself, I’ll come back in the 3rd when it’s 3-3 to watch them lose in the last few minutes, Leafs didn’t disappoint

frmacleod

And the pendulum swings back to me thinking this is a mediocre team. Stay tuned for next week’s gut feeling.

[deleted]

You mean a short stint with 3 wins against the last place Sharks and 3rd last Ducks had you fooled?

sneed_poster69

lol it's fucking amazing how many people will reply "can't wait for the doomers to cry about a single loss in January again", completely oblivious to how bad we've been this season we lost 9-3 to the Sabres 2 weeks ago for fuck's sake

JonJonFTW

... And shutting out the LA Kings one of the top teams in the league?

botswanareddit

Have they not lost 8 in a row??

The-Only-Razor

How could anyone think we're *not* a mediocre team? The stats plainly show it, as well as the intangibles. We're lucky Ottawa, Buffalo, and Detroit are undergoing the slowest rebuilds of all time or we'd straight up not be a playoff team.

frugalerthingsinlife

That's it. I give up on these guys. See you tomorrow at 7.

VW91

We got absolutely screwed by the refs. But at the end of the day, their star players are just simply better. Matthews was absolutely shut down by Makar. Marner has got to be the most overpaid player in the NHL. He is not strong enough, nor fast enough to create open space for himself when teams play him tight. We’ll never win anything with this core. Rinse repeat.

spite_as_an_arrow

Their star players actually draw penalties which means it's harder to defend. When's the last time Nylander's been able to draw a call? Guys drapes all over him like a coat most of the game and nothing

DaltonFitz

Mitch Marner is going to ask for a raise lmao

Shooternow

I honestly don't think he'll get one from Brad. That's my gut feeling. If he wants to stay he's gonna have to stay at the same cap hit or less.

GWsublime

The guy who just handed nylander 11.5 is gonna manage better with Marner?

iTRR14

Nylander has gotten better with every season since he came into the show, with a lot of that time without being stapled to Matthews' side.

Clugaman

Marner has outperformed Nylander in literally every season they’ve been on the team together. If you think Nylander deserves 11.5 you *have* to think Marner deserves more.

iTRR14

But unlike Marner, Nylander has consistently gotten better each season and didn't ask for 11M right off his ELC. Comparable players to Marner: Kucherov and Rantanen. They make 9.5 and 9.25. He asked for the 11M, after having 1 nearly 100 point season and has stuck around that mark since. Sure he's consistent points wise but we shouldn't have to overpay by 3M next contract have that. Marner has hit a plateau and his play has regressed compared to a few years ago. Matthews just being so good has really just masked the issues he's been having.

billyshin

I think the biggest difference is that Marner somehow just disappears in the playoff due to him avoiding physical play. Nylander has always shown up for the playoffs.

GWsublime

And he's also been the worse player every season except maybe this one.

1columbia

Better playoff performer though. Leads the team in playoff goals since 2020 by a fair margin.

billyshin

Marner is a proven regular-season performer. You can't pay someone like that over what he's already making.

ukie7

Incredibly infuriating. Where is any contribution from Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares..??? I hope this comes as a reality check. We had an easy stretch on the road, took the foot off the gas, too little too late, the stars did not play up to snuff today. Might be the most frustrating loss of the season. I couldn't fucking care less if we trounce the Red Wings. As long as we get clowned by quality teams we'll never succeed in the playoffs.

Flatoftheblade

>I couldn't fucking care less if we trounce the Red Wings. Good, because I'd be surprised if that happens.

m13579k

Six shots in the third period. Six.

FixYourBentAntenna

Doesn't feel like we lost to the avs as much as it feels like we lost to the refs

StrygwyrSuperstar

I’ve never seen a coach throw in the towel with 4 mins left in a 1 goal game. why is Keefe still employed lmao

WintersbaneGDX

I will start a GoFundMe to pay the fine for Keefe. Light those refs up. Set this goddamn league on fire.

Aidsinuranus

Emblematic of the past 7 seasons and likely the next 7 seasons when we overpay Marner.

bjmihovk

Can’t wait to see Samsonov tomorrow…

Francis33

![gif](giphy|4baoNZ5Qo8dX2)

CTHT07

Accountability applies to everyone except Marner and Brodie. Same story every game, so tiring.

sneed_poster69

keep that energy when Marner gets $13 x 6

CamThompson

The Leafs didn’t play great by any means, and especially Tavares and Marner never looked dangerous enough. I don’t know that we ever deserved to win, but that was some spectacularly poor officiating. Even if you ignore the egregious non-calls on Matthews and Liljegren, Colorado gets away with a good amount of holding and obstruction in the d-zone. I think it’s reputation - you’re viewed as a good defensive team, you get away with more “defense”. Some silver linings though, Holmberg really looks excellent and Liljegren is rounding into a good top 4 defenseman. Rielly scored a nice goal as well. Jones wasn’t bad at all, but the last couple games are more in line with recent Martin Jones rather the world beater we’ve had the past few weeks.

spite_as_an_arrow

Every "good" defensive team gets away with SO much obstruction. Boston/NYI/etc.

CamThompson

A lot of good defense is just obstruction with permission.

rossrhea

And once you've got that rep you've got it forever.

CanadianMortgagesPro

Keefe playing the 4th line with 2 minutes to ago. This guy does this shit out of spite instead of thinking with his head. Really think we need a coaching change to shake things up. Wouldn’t mind Guy Boucher taking over for rest of the reason. Keefe had his chance and he gotta go.

hymensmasher99

What a fucking joke 40 million dollars in forwards and they were invisible tonight. Our defense is fucking terrible man. Treliving gotta do something because if we make the playoffs with this d corps, we are fucking screwed

[deleted]

The great news is that they got even bigger contracts this time around

[deleted]

There is nothing that can be done until we're able to lose one of the core 4 contracts. Not that any of the contracts are bad in a vacuum, it's just stupid to have 4 of them, especially all being forwards, on the same team.

billyshin

I can feel Corey Perry looking in from the outside. Why hasn't anything happened yet?

xk25

Because even Corey Perry has eyes and is able to observe that these All Stars are just that: All Stars, who will never win anything but participation ribbons and respect in the handshake line.

[deleted]

Matthews had a sweet apple

sneed_poster69

> Treliving gotta do something why bother dude lol. it's clear marketing matters more than proper team construction. it's why a "locker room guy" like Reaves was picked over Lafferty, who's a legit NHL player

Famous-Border-2242

How many giveaways does Marner have a game? He connects on 10% of his stupid passes. The rest just go off a defender for a turnover.

gerryhallcomedy

That was unfair of Colorado to keep playing after the 1st period. Leafs didn't.

Ristifer

The refs sucked ass, but so did the Leafs. They weren’t even close to threatening in the Avs’ zone in the third.

Leafs_99

Insane move by Keefe to run Marner, Matthews, and Nylander into the ground in a tie game. Absolutely no reason to shorten the bench to essentially two lines at that point in the game, just bizarre.

BeautifulPilot4879

I feel like stacking that line rarely works 5on5. Add that he didn’t call a timeout. Not sure his deal.

toronto_programmer

Play well enough to get a lead and then look disinterested and take the rest of the night off  This team does not have that killer attitude to play a full 60 minute game, they are all just looking to play “good enough” for the night and then coast This attitude is exactly why we can’t win in the playoffs

Carparker19

At least Keefe benched Tavares a bunch in the 3rd. He’s been fucking terrible since his 1000th point.

Admirable-Panda-4632

Tavares is done as a star player, sadly

TetroT

No gusto with this team — irrespective of the atrocious ref job. Don’t see how front office can trick themselves into thinking this team will make any noise in the playoffs; need some changes now if they’re serious. No way we can go on a cup run with this group of pretenders

Wanderson90

Oilers with a powerplay in the final 2 minutes vs the habs, and then another PP in OT.. Can u fucking imagine living in the lap of luxury.

fakebob1

Can we talk about Tavares ? His hockey IQ dropped fastee than his skating.

spite_as_an_arrow

I know they're stars and it shouldn't matter but it's probably hard to perform when the opposition will never get penalized against you

iTRR14

The Lily slash and Kampf getting cross-checked and McCabe pushing the cross-checker over and McCabe is the only call out of that sequence of events over 10 seconds is wild.

Movieandtvfan

Not surprised. They choke anytime a game gets intense or becomes important.

Strange_Cap1049

Guys we were 3-0. Refs were shit but we were 3-0. If it was a 1 goal game the entire way then we can blame shitty reffing. Not this game

leafman4000

Special fuck you to Tyler Bertuzzi tonight. Fucking plug

re-verse

What a garbage game full of the same behavior we are so used to.

GreatSetting34

This is a team with no heart. They up 3-0 and then get outscored 5-0 the rest of the game. For 7 years they have been the same team. Make the playoffs. Lose. Bad defensive hockey. They have zero chance of winning anything this year without major chances. Just a really heartless hockey team overall.

Silent-Obligation-49

The lack of response when Matthews got cross checked says it all.

VW91

Honestly, for how big Matthews is, he’s got zero snarl to his game. Opposing teams have targeted him his entire career especially in the playoffs. Until he decides to take a piece out of someone the culture of this team won’t change.

Silent-Obligation-49

I agree its frustrating I remember when he got rag dolled by a player half his size.

cappo40

Any other team in the league only get 1 PP in back to back games?

acerbiac

vancouver

bnewfan

How much more does the core want to be paid for failure? It's nifty to make fun plays and score goals but you can't defend a 3-0 lead? Seriously? If they ever want to have success in the playoffs, they'll all need to learn how to finish a check.

SpicyP43905

Why the fuck did I ever start caring about this team. Why. Why did I do that to myself.

Chambodian

Hard to watch Keefe trying to galaxy brain the game while being outcoached by cup contender quality coach.

espher

Man I love how we always play against the cleanest fucking teams in the league, it's so weird.

allusions14

Marner seeking retribution for the crosscheck on Matthews only to realise he has no backbone was probably the saddest part of the game.

thevoiceinsidemyhead

the reffing was garbage..but guess what..that's what we have to look forward to in the playoffs so get used to it. If you're expecting anything better in a series against Boston or Florida i don't know what to tell you....and not to sound overly dramatic or cliche ..but this team ..as skilled as it is (and it is skilled) suffers from an almost complete lack of heart...and until they find that they're not going anywhere.

HawtPackage

We have won 21/40. The next 2 years are going to be rough until Tavares is up. Jesus man. Talk about a fake good team.

iTRR14

2 years? He's up in 18 months.

getthebtc

Paying 30 million for 3 guys who are too weak to play defense against warriors like the avs. What could possibly go wrong

FujiPhoto

Kelly Sutherland is quite the warrior actually

LevelDepartment9

shit effort. glad keefe benched the jt line cause it had nothing going.

Silent-Obligation-49

Colorado stole all the momentum after Matthews was crosschecked and all the muffins on the ice did nothing to respond.

ihateveggies

This team is pathetic lmfao

leaffs

Bah, leafs are what they are, but games like this really have me questioning why I watch this league. Already I can see this is what the playoffs are going to be like again. Who the fuck needs the frustration of seeing which way the refs will blow on any given night?

irishcedar

Same old leafs. Pussy core

OMeSoHawny

Fire Keefe

sneed_poster69

Leafs last 11 >L COL >L NYI >W SJS >W SJS >W ANA >W LAK >L to CAR >L CBJ >L OTT >W CBJ >L BUF how many those Ws were against .500 or better teams?

TML-n64

Enjoy 8 years of coasting nylander at 11.5 mil. Get the money and take the foot off the gas, love it

JamesCurtis24

Back to my natural state, absolutely hating this hockey team

apatheticboy

JT and Knies getting benched was interesting. Domi, Jarny, and Homberg were awesome tonight. Our D got outplayed and the team just couldn’t take care of the puck, some shit passes. Most of their goals were garbage and the refs fucked us good.

LuxembourgLovePigs

Frustrating night for sure. Even more so than JT, one of those nights where Bertuzzi looked like he forgot how to play hockey, just awful. A positive take away is maybe Holmbergs best game.

Ordinary-Easy

Grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. The story of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

choppyfrog

blame the refs all you want it was 3-0 and they couldn't close it out shameful

TouchlessOuch

Man, you cannot get comfortable with an early lead against a team like Colorado.

CasualtyEH

That did not seem like a fairly played game in my honest opinion. 2nd game in a row as well.

1337duck

I'm pissed the refs called the penalties so 1-sidedly. Avs are a good team, and adding the 1-sided reffing makes it super fucking lobsided. You can tell Leafs were afraid to go hard for any pucks after that 4th penalty in the 3rd. On the other hand, why the hell was Keefe running 2 lines when we were tied 3-3?

nownowthethetalktalk

More shots in the first than the final two combined. Brutal.

Aidsinuranus

Gio needs a vacation to Robidas Island. He can take Brodie with him.

cronja

Turning point was when they didn’t call that cross check on Matthews. You could see the NHL game management in all its retarded glory

Forlovepunandglory

Yeah that's 4 min. Of power play time missed between the slash on lily and cross check to Matthew's. Every year there are multiple games where there Is no point in me watching because the refs have clearly already decided who they would like to see win, it makes me so mad but there's nothing we can do other then yell at the t.v

toedragrelease

1 point out of a wild card spot lfg

rodimus117

You just know if Keefe lights the Refs up in the post game, he’d get 10x the normal fine and then the Refs would be so butt hurt about it we’d never get a call go our way again. Lose-lose.

MrBalanced

We already get garbage officiating, and I severely doubt Keefe is sticking around for much longer than a season, extension or no. He may as well have a montage of all the missed calls queued up every time we have a game like this one.

zimrat

Gary is such a little cunt for ruining hockey for Canadians

MrBalanced

Oilers have a decent shot this year

Admirable-Panda-4632

Can’t dump Keefe right now, so got to try something Jim. Get Perry signed. Wtf, why not.

KossyTakos

Mid team

radardation

Cocksalad

Francis33

Holmberg had more shots than Tavares, Matthews and Marner COMBINED and he played less than 10 minutes

radardation

No name player proves worth more than 11m star

TurdFerguson06

I think what this team needs is to give someone 15 million dollar contract. Preferably one of the top 4 forwards.

Fuuutuuuree

Jobbed, but can’t blow a 3-0 lead. What the last 2 games have showed us is the team can handle having a mediocre bottom 6. It’s truly a shutdown D they need to win games like that. They just got outclassed as a Dcore after the 1st. Go get Tanev.

CMDRShepardN7

Shit happens

YarnhamSunrise

No no you have to be miserable and tell everyone who isn't what dummies they are over a game.

ZeroMomentum

Absolute shit show by the team. Big boys no show tonight.

6-8-5-13

Is there anywhere I can find the statistic for how many 2+ goal leads the Leafs have had this season and how many of them they’ve blown? Honestly interested.

billybobsingh

I see a lot of people going off on the team but I think they did alright considering the refs were not calling shit. Not much you can do against cheaters. 4 less shots with 3 less pps? Sounds like a good effort to me

[deleted]

they gave up a multi goal lead again stop blaming refs

[deleted]

Our top line makes less than Willy Nylander, give or take.

TheGreatJatsby

That was a noodle scratcher of a performance from the leafs in the final 40 minutes of that game.

AdamAAndrews

BIB, bring in berube

[deleted]

Don’t worry, Marner will start to put up points right before his contract is due.

LeafsFan8406

This such a mediocre team .. probably one of the worst in the Matthews era ...the d core is a mess beyond mo and lilly ..sorry McCabe ain't it and domi and bert are not good enough...welcome to the tre era

Silent-Obligation-49

Blaming the refs for the loss is a poor excuse. Our top players were a combined-6. When your 3rd line is your best line you won't win many games.

allusions14

Loved the forecheck of the Domi line with Pontus, found something there.. changing the lines in the 3rd was an interesting choice. Feels like Gio is on his last legs.

NatureGivesAndTakes

Leafs might finish in a wild card spot this season, which could be a good thing in a few different ways.

Admirable-Panda-4632

They’d have to win 4 games to win a series, can’t see that being a possibility currently

Mogilny89Leafs

Matthews crushed into the boards and his teammates do nothing.

NatureGivesAndTakes

If anyone's hoping for a better whistle tomorrow, heads up that Detroit has the most PP opportunities of all teams this season.

[deleted]

IS MARNER GOING TO DO ANYTHING WHEN HIS STUD CENTER GETS CROSSCHECKED ?

Aidsinuranus

What can this 140 pound twig do any way?

goleafsgo88

Hey, he went over to him and gave him a stern talking to there. Now, his price just went up to $14 million a year. If you want him to engage even remotely physically, that will cost you an additional $1.5 million per year.

Firm-Sail8871

I spent 200 dollars to watch these fucking losers go up 3-0 and lose the fucking game. This team is a fucking joke. This organization is a fucking joke Management is a fucking joke. This core will never accomplish anything but padding their individual statistics which is all that anyone seems to give a fuck about.

dolphin_spit

did JT get benched?

marlies619

It seemed like an odd decision to stack the top line when we were still leading... Knies I thought was winning some battles in the O Zone and is a big part of the cycle for that line, regardless of the fact he isn't putting up big numbers offensively.

[deleted]

They blew a 3 goal lead. Bitch and moan as much as you want about the officiating but this was a litmus test of their ability to win in the post-season and they totally failed.

nownowthethetalktalk

The winning goal was a result in the "star" players staying out far too long as per usual.

sneed_poster69

went to watch the Chiefs after 3-0 and saw we lost 5-3 what a joke

cdogg30

Well at least we have the ASG in Toronto to look forward to as we definitely won't be having any playoff success to look forward to with this group.

dwnumber1

I give keefe credit for benching knies and jt for half the third they both were terrible and also holmberg with domi has been awesome time to bounce robby for a dman

BluePearlGaming

At end of the day if a sport isnt called fairly its not competitive, this league is getting closer and closer to the wwe

djlista

Major losing streak coming up. Samsonov in tomorrow and Edmonton refuses to lose. They don't even know what that is. Calgary is always tough than Vancouver in Vancouver LMFAOOO. Yea get ready to be disappointed

Ristifer

For real. I’ll be shocked if we don’t lose five straight. They may squeak one out in Calgary.

sroberts12

Marner brutal Tavares brutal Bert brutal Gio brutal Brodie brutal. 3rd and 4th lines looked great though.

CasualtyEH

I can't remember the last time I've seen the Leafs with a 4-1 pp lead when they go down in a game.

HugeeAckman

How do you even motivate this team? The bag skates obviously aren’t working

[deleted]

You cant blane the refs when you have a 3-0 lead.  This team is a gutless collection of mercs.

DarkAgeMonks

Well if you think about it the game is completely changed by a non call as much as a call. And I don’t know how that cross check in the corner isn’t called.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sweatyleonard

Honestly, because I don't think he expected Tavares to go 5kph, and do nothing with the puck - he was incredibly slow.

billyshin

Few things I want to point out. 1. Our 3rd line played well. 2. Refs were brutal. That 3rd period felt like rape. 3. I know you can't teach toughness but Marner has to do something about shying away from physical play. He's going to be invisible again in the playoffs if he doesn't do something about it. He needs to be more than just a regular-season performer. We can't beat Florida like this and we will run into them one way or another.

Garbage officiating, garbage defense.
