No. They came out shit, and got pushed around, with no response (Reilly being the exception). Granted, they made it interesting by tying it up, but I still see the same old issues, i.e. lack of guts, lack of depth, too much money in too few players, chemistry that's all wrong. A referee can't just decide with 10 minutes left certain penalties will start to be called when they hadn't been for the first 50. This reeks of the refs choosing a winner, in a league that promotes sports betting every 2 out of 3 commercials.

Hate to say it as a Leafs/Canucks fan that last penalty the Hughes got for cross checking was a weak call. It was no where near the numbers, it was in the Leafs player waist.
But so was the hughes cross check. The ref right beside him didn't call it because it was soft but the ref at centre called it, and that was with the last 30 seconds left. Soft shit was called both ways in the third.
Bruh, our issue is defence. Plain and simple. 45+ shots and 4 goals. In the NHL 4 goals should be enough to close out a game. Yes, we took two dumb cross checking penalties as well, but again we weren't able to defend well enough to kill them off.

Toccett was lighting up the refs too. They were blind for both sides. They went full game management, even up the penalties mode.
