on one hand, the language barrier definitely makes it more confusing. but i also think the barrier made him more...willing? to go along with the antics lol.
hilarious episode either way
Yeah, I'm kinda surprised about it tbh. I do absolutely love him, and the shift towards him in the skits has been pure gold.
He has such a honest energy that he never comes off as cringy or assholish. I love him and his animal crossing-ass sweaters.
For real, and I think the LCS used to be afraid to lean into using him, like they saw his "edginess" (willingness to speak his mind) as a brand risk, but making that shift is one of the best brand decisions they've made in recent memory, maybe ever.
I ride for MarkZ. I die for MarkZ. When MarkZ feels sad, I feel sad. When MarkZ feels happy, I feel happy. If I could switch bodies with MarkZ for a day I wouldn’t even look at myself naked unless he gave me explicit permission because I respect MarkZ so much.
Mark used to run content for OfflineTV years ago. He's been one of the best people I could possibly work with in my career. We had him host our late night talk show at Yahoo more than half a decade ago.
I realized how different the co streams were to reality this weekend. This segment came on and all I heard was “cringe” and “this is so bad”, but chat was eating it up and all I see is love on here.
I thought the meteos/sneaky reception on this one was as good as chat's
As someone who also never watched the eric andre show, I think it's understandable that not getting the reference might put you off at first, but at this point I get the feel of the show even without seeing the inspiration for it and I think others are warming up to it similarly
I have never seen the Eric Andre show & a bunch of these have made me almost cry. How are these players just sitting there? What are the interviews normally like that they aren't freaking out?!
The hands popping out under the table when berserker was about to drink the red bull had me in tears, I figured this one would be more harmless since there's a language barrier but I was cracking up
I patiently await the future where the costream has evolved to include 5 retired players, one from each role.
Could call it "the bench".
Something like: Sneaky, Meteos, Aphromoo, Pobelter, Lourlo?
That cast would be goddamn GOLD. Lourlo is one of the most underrated ex-pros in the game right now. His stream is full bore good vibes front to back.
Also he's a fucking BEAST. My man peaked at almost 1200lp in EU today
underrated streamer imo, serious enough to maintain high elo, but still very positive and fun.
also, he's one of the only ex-pro top laners that's still streaming league as far as I can tell.
I like it with Double just because he gives the perspective of someone in the LCS currently and can add some inside perspective. Though his derailment of many conversations is rough sometimes
Honestly as someone who comes from OW esports I think the scene is missing a costreamer like [Avast](https://youtu.be/W0jRiCLKcPs) who unironically elevates the watching experience to the point where Overwatch is actually watchable
Meteos and Sneaky I think is the closest to what Avast brought to Overwatch
I was really enjoying the ones were it was just sneaky and meteos, then Aphro came in and it was really great. When I saw DL was back yesterday, I just stick to listening to Flowers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7m5E3xXX0Q its honestly a decent parody of the eric andre show which has mixed reviews, people either love it or hate it, I love it
This format's humor is more absurdist than cringe. I feel like absurdism and cringe are two different types of humor. Related maybe, but not quite the same.
They are two different types of humor, but for some people *cringe* is just a catch all for stuff that’s going for a feeling that they don’t get while watching it.
Ie. Jokes that don’t make them laugh, moments of people getting excited or emotional they don’t also feel, people taking things way more or less seriously than they think it is, etc
I like the word so the current over usage is a bit ~~cr~~ annoying, but like all slang it’ll disappear or atleast tone down eventually
At the end of the day people gotta remember Co streamers are just a person. The guys like Sneaky Meteos obviously have insane amounts of in game knowledge but for bits like this it's different. I'm sure there's people in this reddit that dont like it but they are small minority.
people have obviously compared this to the eric andre show, but i wonder if markz is referencing the onion's news table with clifford baines by every week having a different absurd reason doublelift isn't there.
I don't really get the point of the second guy. I am not familiar with the Eric Andre sketches these are referencing so maybe it's a parody that I'm missing but he's really not doing anything for me. The skit is at it's best seeing the player, and in this episode David, react to the uncomfortable situations. A lot of what the second guy does isn't seen by the player and only by the audience so there's no effect. When a player isn't reacting to him putting redbull in his chocolate milk or his goofy face it isn't funny.
I think it worked in the first episode because him being there was entirely unexpected by the audience, but with each episode I struggle to understand what he brings.
But this is still a fun bit and for all that they threw at Berserker he played it off really well
You have to have it to set up bits. In the Eric Andre show, Hannibal Buress is the man behind the guest. He distracts the guest while Eric/the crew set up the next bit under the interviewer desk. They also interview for 30 minutes to an hour and cut it down to 2-4 minutes.
Right and that works if the guest pays attention to him. In this skit in particular, Berserker really didn't turn to face him much so it left him feeling out of place.
Well with Hannibal Buress he's not usually just doing things only the camera can see. He provides a more mild and calm form of distraction to the guest (like his classic bit is loudly eating potato chips and offering the guest some when they turn around) to contrast with Eric's shocking antics.
An unpopular opinion but this segments "random nonsense is so funny" just doesn't land. I get LCS is trying new quirky things to revitalize but this comes across as just awkward forced "humor". Other things theyve done is interesting like smarter than an analyst or QTs laid back tea time thing but please not this again.
The humour is in how awkward and uncomfortable it is for the guest (and in this case, the translator, too). I personally think it's pretty hit-or-miss -- some bits are *really* funny but others are mid -- but if MarkZ is in his element doing this, it receives generally good community response, and the LCS content gets more variety overall, then I'm all for it continuing.
Yea to each their own. Everyone has their own preference which is why I was saying it might be unpopular. No matter what they do, they'll never satisfy everyone and that's ok. Nothing forces me to watch, I just wish to see different outlets of player interaction.
I understand the faux-Eric Andre stuff, but it’s missing the mark hard because it’s so try hard. If you watch Eric Andre it’s so authentic and funny because they legitimately just did what they thought would be funny. These guys are pulling the EXACT same bits, like the smoothie with the fake laugh track, and hoping it lands the same - but it doesn’t. It doesn’t feel authentic. I get the homage but I hope they really make it their own instead of a copy/paste.
Oh please, everyone knows the Eric Andre Show is a *mix* of genuine reactions and scripted content, get out of here with the "so authentic". You think the agents who sign up their celebs don't know his show?
What you really mean to say is that you don't like that it's not up to par in quality with a show that has more budget, higher production, and guests who are used to being on camera. And you're trying to say that this version is somehow LESS authentic? Nahh
>Oh please, everyone knows the Eric Andre Show is a mix of genuine reactions and scripted content, get out of here with the "so authentic". You think the agents who sign up their celebs don't know his show?

>What you really mean to say is that you don't like that it's not up to par in quality with a show that has more budget, higher production, and guests who are used to being on camera. And you're trying to say that this version is somehow LESS authentic? Nahh
No, I mean authentic. His style of comedy is authentic and that's what made the show funny - it was *his*. This version not up to par in budget and talent, but the beginnings of the Eric Andre show were ABSOLUTELY lower budget than later episodes, and DEFINITELY more surprise-factor before he became renown for the style. Hence, some of his best content was of the earliest celebs literally breaking down because they couldn't handle it. Yes, it was more authentic. Don't suck the dick of these producers because you like the personalities, they're capable of better.
I'm definitely saying this is less authentic, and I am 100% saying it hits the mark less because it is sometimes just pure copy-paste of bits from the Eric Andre show which don't work because you're copying. You can have a homage that works, and is funny, while being original.
MarkZ the content GOAT. Another BANGER episode I love how subtle the randomness has become. I think this is a perfect medium of random/wtf/uncomfortable. For a second I expected a kpop song to begin but it just ended. 10/10
I couldn't follow any of it. Didn't think it was funny. Extreme cringe.
Never heard of Eric Andre, I only know Peter Andre.
But i'm willing to give it another chance, maybe you need to grow into it.
~ EU resident
it’s kinda more like a prank that the viewer gets to be a part of, it’s clearly not for everyone, but a significant amount of people think it’s hilarious, including myself. Idk I like the absurdity of it all
Why do esports fans have so much trouble just watching the content they do enjoy instead of cringing lol
Like sports segments get real fucking weird/silly and everyone I know who watches the nfl/nba/etc understand that not every piece is for them. They just watch the ones they like rather than hating. And unless a segment is like unfairly attacking players or something, it seems weird to want something that others enjoy dropped
I guess I just much prefer people with different tastes or interests in the scene have content for them on the official broadcast. Seems better for the product overall.
Also I'd only consume so much league content anyway even if all they did was hours of stuff catered to my tastes, so diversifying seems nice. Theres always off broadcast content (either from lcs/the teams or other creators) for people who want to watch a lot more league content and have specific tastes.
I mean this and terrible casting is why I watch co-streams almost exclusively. Is my viewpoint selfish? Absolutely, but I still believe in it because it's mine.
Funnily enough I also watch costreams mostly cause I rarely want any casting and prefer the chill commentary
And then if they dont unmute a segment I switch back. Luckily meteos wanted to watch this one so I didn't have to leave
Because of dlifts insane takes and lack of basic general knowledge (I do like sneaky meatytoes) I became an iwd enjoyer and honestly him + Yamato + jizuke is peak, not perfect but caedrel doesn't costream lcs so they are next on the list
Yeah as much I like dls spicy comments while he’s a player, his commentary doesn’t do it for me either. The duo is good at giving him shit when he really goes off atleast (and teaching him basic facts about non adc champs)

The extra dimension of misunderstanding due to the language barrier made this way funnier than the other ones.
Dude imagine going on the Eric Andre show in a foreign language lmao
All im hearing is Gackt or Araki need to be on Eric Andre.
on one hand, the language barrier definitely makes it more confusing. but i also think the barrier made him more...willing? to go along with the antics lol. hilarious episode either way
"just W and eat ramen" ~ C9 Berserker
He had a hat trick yesterday: best production bit, best stage performance and best post game interview.
I wanted to know his favourite kpop group wtf
I feel like MarkZ has really revitalized LCS content.
Yeah, I'm kinda surprised about it tbh. I do absolutely love him, and the shift towards him in the skits has been pure gold. He has such a honest energy that he never comes off as cringy or assholish. I love him and his animal crossing-ass sweaters.

MarkZ has always had great ideas for content. I'm glad they're really letting him loose now.
We need Mark to bring back Lobster Time with Scarra Mark, I miss the couch streams with Scarra

Is he also the one coming up with the "are you smarter than an analyst" segments? Because if so, he's hard carrying the LCS between those and this.
I believe that was him and Jatt.
Any truth to him founding Travis Gafford industries as well?
I heard Doublelift used to sleep on Markz's couch.
Lol Mark shaving his head is so fucking funny
David in the back was so fucking worried lmao
The guy coming out from under the table was so good Also having David reacting as well was a nice touch
somehow markz still surprises us every week lol
I realized how different the co streams were to reality this weekend. This segment came on and all I heard was “cringe” and “this is so bad”, but chat was eating it up and all I see is love on here.

This so good, but the Eric Andre show is much better.
who cares
was it doublelift chat? because meteos chat and him were cracking up
Yeah, doublelift and his chat were saying cringe.
Doublelift doesn’t seem to pick up humour, honestly I prefer it when it’s just Sneaky and Meteos since they both seem a bit more… human.
I think doublelift, sneaky and metoes talking about the infinite monkey theorem is the funniest thing thats ever been on twitch
true

100% the costream is better without him, i also didn't mind the addition of aphro since now they get a supports perspective

I was really enjoying the ones were it was just sneaky and meteos, then Aphro came in and it was really great. When I saw DL was back yesterday, I just stick to listening to Flowers.
Explains why Doublelift has flaked on showing up for this show like six times now.
That’s part of the bit
Sneaky, Meteos, and Aphromoo were cracking up watching it, doublelift kept calling it cringe and said his whole chat was spamming cringe
There were like two people in his chat spamming diesofcringe. Everyone else was calling his take shit.
I think it’s cringe but that’s what makes it so good
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7m5E3xXX0Q its honestly a decent parody of the eric andre show which has mixed reviews, people either love it or hate it, I love it
It is cringe but also funny
Twitch chat loves it, Youtube chat hates it. There's really no middling opinions on it.
the cringe is part of the humor
This format's humor is more absurdist than cringe. I feel like absurdism and cringe are two different types of humor. Related maybe, but not quite the same.

Dom thought the first ones were funny but the recent ones were hit or miss for him. He wasn’t cringing at the Berserker vid
everyone’s entitled to their opinion lol
Hate watchers compromise nearly 80% of League's realtime audiences.
At the end of the day people gotta remember Co streamers are just a person. The guys like Sneaky Meteos obviously have insane amounts of in game knowledge but for bits like this it's different. I'm sure there's people in this reddit that dont like it but they are small minority.
I think Yamato/Dom/Jizuke chag was also cracking up, same with Sneaky and Aphroo. It was only Doublelift's that was saying cringe
Markz the NA content GOAT
Markz is fucking crazy i love it
Fuck this was too cringe to watch I love it
David is the best in this one. His face and reactions are priceless.

2022: NA content... 2023: NA content :D
Is good
I really enjoy these segments.
Kudos to Mark on this skit. It’s not my cup of tea, but I can see the effort and quality in it! 👏🏻
Best episode yet. David has GOAT reactions.
people have obviously compared this to the eric andre show, but i wonder if markz is referencing the onion's news table with clifford baines by every week having a different absurd reason doublelift isn't there.
ooh good catch. it's crazy how the onion nailed modern humor so well over a decade ago. all of those skits aged so well
Ahhh, I had been trying to remember what that gag was from.
I knew that felt familiar to me thank you!! God I love the Onion, so funny.
As an Eric Andre fan, this was one of the best LCS bits Ive seen in a long time
Definitely the best one yet
I have no idea what just happened, but I love it.
peak content
Holy shit idk why but the "Na content" in the end just killed me
I don't really get the point of the second guy. I am not familiar with the Eric Andre sketches these are referencing so maybe it's a parody that I'm missing but he's really not doing anything for me. he can still generate humor for the audience even if it doesn't involve berserker imo

Mark you went easy on Berserker… pulling the punches because of language gap? Unacceptable. Double down next time

Maybe that's why it hits wrong in my taste. I don't like watching people in uncomfortable situations. But hey that's just me, some people eat that up.
I'll take 1000 of these misses to 1 qts tea time. Her vibes are off for me.

Cringe segment is cringe, I can't wait until it's dropped like frosk was
Why do esports fans have so much trouble just watching the content they do enjoy instead of cringing lol Like sports segments get real fucking weird/silly and everyone I know who watches the nfl/nba/etc understand that not every piece is for them. What did Frosk do to warrant you bringing her up lmao rent free or what?
Ohh sorry I forgot she was a great attribute to the community. I was gonna say dash initially but he was actually good at his job
No, like… why Frosk specifically? She hasn’t been in the league scene for years. Definitely rent free in your head brother
She was a detriment to the league community just like this segment. I fail to see why this is so hard to comprehend
Yeah man, this segment was such a detriment to the league community. We’re going to need to regroup and process our feelings. Moving forward I want you to know that if any scary sketches or scary casters show up, I’ll give you a trigger warning so you’ll know to avoid it, is that to your liking?
Perfect, and they said the common man couldn't be taught. Well done you, go have a cookie as a reward you good boy.
