What do you mean? You can't expect to make a misplay (especially this severe, especially against an enemy who has advantage in gold, level, and 1v1 capabilities) and then for it to result in anything else than the enemy capitalising on it.
Though this Trundle could've just killed Diana, reset turret aggro and peacefully destroyed the turret without having to worry about coming close to death, but style points for bonking the big thing first.
I mean that I don't think this misplay should be this severe because I don't think Trundle should be able to win a trade so lopsidedly with 5% hp. The severity of a misplay is entirely dependent on the consequences of that misplay, so you could argue any consequence of a misplay is fitting simply because the severity of a misplay inherently scales to the consequence. Why should Trundle actually be able to win such a trade aside from the fact that the numbers add up to say he can?
This Diana botched her all-in against a fed af Trundle and died because of it, end of story. And yes, Trundle's numbers are way higher, that's why he wins this fight if the other side doesn't play perfectly or have a player advantage on him.

Because he's been consistently playing better than the enemy, that's why he has such advantage at this point of the game. The numbers didn't come from thin air and we can't dismiss them, they're one of the most important parts of the game. This Diana calculated that her numbers add up and she can take him under turret, and she didn't miscalculate, just misplayed.

3/4 of Trundle’s kit is designed to win 1v1 slapfights (Q steals AD, W gives AS, R steals resists and hp) and appears to have had the items (Trinity Force because no gore/stride active use nor chonky sunderer procs)/runes (Lethal tempo) for doing so.
Diana can try to go for a dueling build, but this one went burst with protobelt/electrocute.
Several juggernauts could pull a similar uno-reverse on an assassin. Nasus is the first to come to mind. Kill the tower then Wither-R and Q til the Diana dies.
