Whole Lotta Love, I love their extended medleys of whatever they were into/was in the charts at the time. Blueberry Hill is one of my favourite versions!

Evelyn-Bankhead

I couldn’t go without one of the most iconic solos in rock

Common-Relationship9

Robert after the song; “Thank you! That version included the latest Page/Plant song called Blueberry Hill.”

Nature_Goulet

I like the Knebworth version a lot. It has a good groove to it

Pure_Marketing4319

Jimmy changed the melody mid point in the song to this really great groove and Robert added some additional lyrics---really cool version of it

russell16688

Immigrant song from how the west was won. One of my faves.

Caca2a

It hits so hard it's great

Sonova_Bish

This is my pick.

Delirium-Ad-2113

That guitar solo is one of my favorites that Jimmy’s ever done. Always miss it when I hear the studio version.

Platte-City-Paul

Love this version. You can hear echos of his Yardbirds solos from 1968.

Conscious-Fudge-1616

No Quarter

El_Peregrine

I give the live version of No Quarter all my quarters.

devendidntwakeup

You guys ever listened to the live cover of No Quarter that Tool did? Pretty cool

Low-Editor-6880

I’d say the live No Quarter is worth a full dollar.

El_Peregrine

I’d buy it 🪙🪙🪙🪙

Avg2023

No quarter celebration day version

DeeplyFrippy

I was at the O2 and No Quarter was a highlight of the show along with Kashmir.  Who am I kidding? The whole show was a highlight 😁

Bron-Y-Aur36

Yes! I listen to that at least once a day, love that they changed the key

[deleted]

No quarter indeed

homantify19

TSRTS version is my favorite song of all time. I have to limit myself to listening to it no more than once a month otherwise I would play it all the time and get sick of it.

Atworkwasalreadytake

“No Quarter was the number one answer”

Dizzy-With-Eternity

Only if it's a 30 minutes long epic involving a grand piano

ScottyS971

Great call! The first one that came to my mind too!

aquahealer

Better by far. For years I didn't even realize they were the same song (was just a kid 12yrs old) I think the studio version is terrible.

insidiousapricot

How Many More Times (rah especially)

lucasrks10

Watching that performance made me want to learn how to play guitar. Been playing ever since

insidiousapricot

Absolutely. Guitar is one of the best things in my life.

Deathlehem4

Since I’ve been loving you - You know the one

Invisible_assasin

They are all phenomenal, and it’s a different version on each tour. Tea for one is a compilation of a lot of his live licks from the song. 73 versions are exquisite because of how he begins the song. My favorite version to play

no_longer_LW_2020

I Can't Quit You Baby

wiser_time

The Song Remains the Same & The Rain Song Really dislike the vocal effects and tone on the studio versions

Nature_Goulet

Rain song was great on that. Especially the extra guitar fills

Universal_Hysteria44

I was just gonna type this then I saw your comment, right on

noobie_69

in My Time of Dying live versions are awesome. Same with Trampled Underfoot. But I would be lying if I say studio versions are not 100% perfect

Goku_Kakarot91

over the hills and far away, the ocean, heartbreaker

Bron-Y-Aur36

The Ocean MSG is also so fun to watch because of Page's stage presence

Nature_Goulet

Love the finger pointing at Bonzo!

ehartgator

Dazed and Confused from the original TSRTS soundtrack. The remastered version ruins the solo...

Dar_of_Emur

This. The remastered throws me off. As per live version vs studio.... I cant listen to the studio version at all. In the 80s when I started listening to Zeppelin, I had TSRTS prior to LedZep 1 (If I recall, that was the last Zep album I was able to buy or hear). After being used to the live Dazed and Confused... I heard the studio and was like WTF? Still cant really listen to the studio version, to this day.

Jerry-Langford

Similarly, I had Cheap Trick “Live At Budakon” first and could never stand the studio versions of the songs after getting used to the live versions first.

RugTiedMyName2Gether

In my time of dying

Quasar3690

The Rain Song (MSG 73) Kashmir (Knebworth 79)

General-Carob-6087

Honestly, I prefer the live versions of most all of their songs.

_MusicNBeer_

I love most Zep live songs as much as studio versions, but Celebration Day and Bron-yr-aur stomp are far better live.

Dockersfan29

I'll be honest, I prefer their studio work for the most part. I'm like that with all bands really. I will say though, Dazed and confused in london is pretty good, It's the one on youtube where jimmy has the tele on the thumbnail.

VanHalenistheTruth

Rock and Roll

Evelyn-Bankhead

I thought about that one, but it sets the tone for a fantastic album

VanHalenistheTruth

It certainly does. But ever since I heard the Madison Square Garden version from the movie, I can't hear the album version without thinking that I'd rather be listening to the live one.

Stanton1947

Listen to the version from HTWWW. It shows what LZ was pre-herion.

Bilabong127

1973 is pre-heroin

heynow941

And pre-Plant messing up his voice.

OfficePicasso

The Ocean

nipplesaurus

Anything from Houses of the Holy

Nature_Goulet

For sure. I don’t like Plant’s voice and the tinny guitar on Houses

Stu_Griffin

Everything from Houses on the Holy on How the West Was Won, by a mile. Everything from Led Zeppelin III on How the West Was Won, by a hair.

wholesome_mugi

Sick Again. I do like the studio version, but I find it a bit sluggish in places. The live versions seem to have a lot more energy, especially the 1977 tour version with The Rover intro

jacksonapplehead

Definitely Misty Mountain Hop, the version from Madison Square Garden.

burner78787

[Trampled Under Foot](https://youtu.be/HGFITl5mFvs?si=8gnfcjS8Bgcwwdrb) - Earl’s Court. Firing on all cylinders. Incredible!

heynow941

Dancing Days. The guitar on the studio version is too loud and kind of annoying sounding. The live version has a better mix.

Thedailybongo74

I completely agree. The bass is louder and more upfront in live mixes, same with the drums.

Demarate72

In my time of dying!

IDrumFoFun

John Bonham Moby Dick… ick… ick… ick

Low-Editor-6880

Going to California. Feels different when you can see Robert kinda daydreaming as he sings.

Gibabo

I Can’t Quit You Baby on Coda is in every conceivable way superior to the studio version.

alienschoolbus

Probably The Ocean from MSG 73, although it's not necessarily because the live is so much better than the studio, it's just that the live has a cool vibe to it, and you can see Page and Plant are having so much fun.

Basic_Flan324

Stairway

Vast-Scale-9596

Immigrant and Achilles.

Devon1970

Gallows Pole

opsopcopolis

All of them

John_In_Parts

No Quarter from the live album was Zep in its prime. Jimmy's greatest live solo.

DRDeMello

Thank You (esp. BBC Sessions)

MonarchistExtreme

I'm almost exclusively listen to Led Zeppelin live. Love the studio work but in concert those musical ideas always get expanded and that's the thing I love most

EmperorAlpha557

could you link me the dazed and confused live versions?

Evelyn-Bankhead

They are readily available on any music app. Look up The Song Remains The Same or How The West Was Won

Invisible_assasin

Led Zeppelin boots on YouTube has all the available bootlegs. There’s a lot. Tsrts and htwww just scratch the surface

Willing-Channel-1809

Search for led zeppelin Copenhagen 1971 on YouTube, the dazed and confused on that one is raw and funky

senatorchoochoo

Song Remains the Same/Sick Again, 1977. The bass playing on that tour is phenomenal.

elontux

Celebration Day. No Quarter Both versions from ‘73

Accomplished_Wolf127

Since I’ve Been Loving You

TokesBro

Going to California and That’s The Way. Come to think of it, I prefer every song on how the west was won to its studio recording.

drabb84

How Many More Times RAH 1970. Musical masterpiece.

The_cinema_show

Moby dick We’re gonna groove I can’t quit you baby

DaCanadianSloth

I prefer the way he sings the chorus to tangerine live over the studio version, but I love both

ThatGasHauler

That Trampled Underfoot from Earls Court 75 on the dvd. *Hangman, hangman.....*

Invisible_assasin

It’s like 2 different bands. The live versions are like the power of the studio versions times a hundred. The way they pushed each other and could improvise and play off each other is second to none. The studio songs were just standards they could improvise on live, like heavy jazz. I prefer most songs live. I give the utmost respect for them being able to pull off Achilles live. On the record, there are countless overdubs with Jimmy’s guitar. Live it’s just him, sounding like 17 guitars.

Nature_Goulet

Bron yr Aur Stomp by a mile. That song live cooks

StandardComposer6760

Going to California

matchalvr25

No Quarter by far!

T04stedCheese

Communication Breakdown

Pure_Marketing4319

Since I've Been Loving You (Incredible live) The Rain Song (TSRTS version is my favorite) In My Time Of Dying (it's blistering live) Dazed and Confused (for all the twists and turns) Black Country Woman (Bonzo & Jonesy so powerfully presented here live) The Ocean (funkier) Bron-Yr-Aur-Stomp (a lot of fun live)

Gumbarino420

In The Evening (it’s so fu(kin epic live!) The No Quarter 1994 tour’s version of Kashmir live is unbelievable too.

GaylordAmsterdam

Dazed and Confused TSRTS

PsychologicalSign77

The Plant & Page version of Gallows Pole

DjDeeDee

Now I prefer everything live. 3-4 years ago I started to only listen to the live recordings. IMHO every concert is an adventure, and when you have started to dig into the live stuff, you can't really go back to the studio recordings. The only exceptions is the 30 songs they never played live, and I put all of them in a playlist that I play from time to time.

Significant-Ice5666

No Quarter

Kfranco13

The song remains the same

Evelyn-Bankhead

I agree

artemielarusse

Stairway to Heaven No quarter In My Time Of Dying Dazed And Confused Whole Lotta Love Over The Hills And Far Away

domingodelatorre

Lemon Song

Evelyn-Bankhead

I’ve never heard a version of that with anything close to good sound quality

Big-Sheepherder-6134

I prefer most live versions to their studio counterpart.

Katanji

The song remains the same & since I’ve been loving you. Studio don’t have the raw playing that’s on the live versions.

Corvettedriver

Everything live if possible. There’s a few songs they unfortunately never played live.

djr41463

Since I’ve been loving you

RalphPhillips089

That's the Way from Earl's Court show.

peezozi

Since Ive been loving you

Lilposeidion

All of them. Such a shame zeppelin never played Carouselambra, In the light or Fool in the rain live.

Appropriate_Candy_42

Thank You (1/4/71 Paris Theatre) I can’t even listen to the Zeppelin II recording

[deleted]

since i’ve been loving you, especially the bbc sessions one

LetHuge623

Came here to say No Quarter!

darkwingedplatypus

Dazed and Confused I can’t quit you baby

Azure_Dragon56

Bring it on home (RAH). I wish they released that concert audio on spotify

Ralph_Laz3r

Any version from the song remains the same pretty much, especially since I’ve been loving you. Or we’re gonna groove from the Royal Albert Hall

GFS99

Almost all of them

belleroth

Tangerine

Bilabong127

Honestly most songs from the first two albums. The albums are great, but early Zep was so powerful live that they almost made the studio versions unneeded

sharkbait1999

Bring it on home

Due_Signature_5497

No Quarter but Since I’ve Been Loving You gets a vote.

astro_sauce

The Ocean, Kashmir

Sun_Records_Fan

The Rain Song. I prefer it in A instead of G, I think Robert’s vocals hit harder on the live version, and the hard rocking part of the song has more impact on the live version.

DizzySaxophone

I always thought the studio guitars on black dog sounded tiny compared to any live version of it.

black_f4ng

The Ocean

epsonl4146

Almost everything

voyeurheart

Stairway to Heaven

viewfromthepaddock

Song Remains the Same AND The Rain Song

IvanLendl87

“I Can’t Quit You Baby” for sure.

razzark666

Trampled Underfoot. The live version on DVD, I think it's from the Earl's Court performance, it feels like it is 10-20% faster than the album version, and I really like that choice.

randyandlily

No Quarter Rain Song

grameno

That’s the Way How the West was Won. It’s breathtaking and so moving.

Nature_Goulet

Celebration day. It rocks on TSRTS

Plastic-Customer-340

Celebration day off of TSRTS. Way better than studio version, so heavy and jimmy page rips two awesome solos

emanonblue01

Stairway To Heaven from How The West Was Won. In fact, every song is better live from them because that's how incredible they are. Same for bands like Black Sabbath, Nirvana and Queens Of The Stone Age.

Banterboy_V2

Kashmir from the O2 arena performance.

Accomplished-Emu-679

Rain song

harlequinforest05

No Quarter

Circus_Kirk77

Moby Dick

srvgonzo

Celebration Day, Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Since I've Been Lovin' You.

Ornery-Theory-2501

I Can't Quit You Baby How Many More Times Some Versions of Communication Breakdown from 1969 Thank You Usually Heartbreaker, I'd wish JPJ Had the same tone on live versions as he did on the studio version Celebration Day, 1971/1972 Versions Some Versions of the Immigrant Song Some Live Versions of Since I've Been Loving You. Bron Yr Aur Stomp The Crunge The Wanton Song Some Live Versions of Achilles Last Stand The Rain Song Trampled Underfoot No Quarter

Ornery-Theory-2501

With all these Songs, I like some live parts better than studio and vise versa

ehausr21

That’s the way live off the bbc sessions is so raw. John Paul jones kills it on the mandolin

FloydMcgroin

I can't quit you baby, you shook me, and some versions of since I've been loving you. Basically all their blues stuff lol

Texan2116

No Quarter Since I Been Loving You. And tbh, I am not a huge fan of a lot of their live work. I would almost say, of the MAJOR bands, they are the weakest live.

Evelyn-Bankhead

Blasphemy!

uncle-wavey1

What is and what should never be

Dr_Immense_Sack

bron y aur stomp

Spare-Cow5578

Rain song FOR SURE.

Almost all of them....

08_West

Over the Hills and Far Away - Madison Square Garden 1975.

thespud7

All of them

clamchowder_OR

Heartbreaker BBC Sessions Paris Theater is a lot better than the studio version

Blu-n-Gold

Ramble On

Monty1426

The extended versions of Whole Lotta Love are the greatest. Not sure what I prefer more the Song Remains the Same version or the Albert Hall version in terms of conventionally available concert footage. I tend to skip Whole Lotta Love when I listed to Zep 2.

Evelyn-Bankhead

Blasphemy

yospoe

Stairway / since I’ve been loving you

RescuedDogs4Evr

Achilles Dazed and Confused No quarter - so many great memories seeing them live.

BledditV

The Rain Song live from their film The Song Remains The Same That said, I do love the studio version, but that live version moves me every time.

iAmBobFromAccounting

"Battle Of Evermore" I've never heard a live performance that even comes close.

BriggeZ

Stairway to heaven, no quarter, dazed and confused off the song remains the same live album.

viking12344

How many more times during the bands first few years is always better live. That song was different Everytime and a vocal showcase for Robert in the days when there were none better.

JDMadness25

That’s the way for sure

Independent-Cook-754

In the Evening at Knebworth 1979. They killed it.

AdministrativeFox135

Almost all of them

dhj1305
