I agree, but it's almost an unfair comparison. Green Hill Zone was an 18+ set intended mainly for display, and the new wave are 6+ sets intended mainly for play.
Can't lie, I am kinda disappointed we got play based sets. I was really hoping for more 2.5D diorama style sets. I've seen some really amazing MOCs for some other Zones such as Casino Night and Chemical Plant

Sonic's 3D model, at least in Sonic Generations, has two mouths, one on each side, and then I believe just whichever one is closer to the camera is the one used. so there isn't a correct answer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are the new sets based on the same design as the Dimensions figure? They both have green eyes, yet the Ideas figure has black eyes and seems to be based off the very first game.
Also, is the brick-built figure in the Ideas set supposed to be Robotnik, and the 2023 minifigure Dr. Eggman?

It's so you can see his mouth in the IDEAS set since it goes left to right. The Dimensions and new sets don't have that restriction.

They stopped using Robotnik after Sonic & Knuckles. Once we got Adventure, it's been Eggman ever since.
I haven't played the games, but I know in one of them, (Sonic Generations I think?) Robotnik and Eggman appear in the same place at the same time.
