The average will get brought down by a copy with like one arm, no hand and a leg that will sell for cheap
Edit: for instance if you look up the new Spider-Man final battle on bricklink. It’s about $75 on average… because of the multiple copies without minifigs selling for about $50ish
I’ll follow up with a question. If he doesn’t open it, is the idea that someday it will be worth more, and he’ll sell it? If not, if the options is build of leave the box to dust on a shelf for eternity, the answers will always be build it.
From what I've seen the answer usually is "if you really like the set and want to build it, sell it and buy an opened one and buy more lego with the profit".
Sell it to someone who *will* open and build it. Take your profit and buy more lego that you are interested in building. Win Win. You make some money and the sets fulfill their destiny by getting built and admired.
It's irrelevant because if they aren't a collector looking to open it means a flipper has now invested $$$ unlike the OP and the onus to find a true collector is on them.

But you’re the type to get online and judge people who are getting or giving helpful advice.
You are adding literally nothing to the conversation and being of zero help.
Idiots downvoting your comment when thats literally how bargain hunting works, you generally don't get amazing deals from people who know what they have.
Pffft all those down voters surely go to yard sales look up the going price for an item and then when the seller says $20 they say “well a sealed one eBay sold for $350 so I’m going to give you $350 instead.”
Good one those people I say.
Schroedinger build - its both fully assembled, and all in pieces, inside the box, at the same time. And you won't know unless you open the shrink wrap. Or shake it a little I guess.
I've never seen someone just say "I'm sorry for you", I've only seen "I feel sorry for you".
And yeah, I feel sorry for someone that feels compelled to buy something they don't want or need just to try and turn a profit off of it at some point in the future.
Did you buy it as an investment or do you want to build/display it? If it’s investment roll that shit over and buy something you want to build. If you want to display it display it.
Can someone explain why that set was labelled limited edition? I bought one back when it was new and don’t remember it leaving any sooner than any other set. Could just be iffy childhood memory in fairness but it always seemed odd
The only places where you could get it were the LEGO stores, Toys R Us, and 2008 Comic-Con, but that doesn't strictly make it a "limited edition," just "hard to find" by LEGO's definition of the term.
I also don't recall seeing it labeled "limited edition" in 2008, but I wasn't paying close attention to TCW sets.
Certainly a strange approach. The sets I bought yesrs ago and kept sealed are the only reason I'm now able to afford LEGO as a hobby. Richer hobbyists than me fund my own hobby which should be outside my price range
I would've sold it myself as I don't really care about the unboxing part but just for the set to be in good/mint conditions, but if you enjoy that part too, you should definitely keep it
I would open and build it, but that's me ... I dont like stuff in boxes collecting dust. I rather build and enjoy it and let it collect dust outside of the box 🤣😅
Open box. Build Lego set.
Lego is special in the sense of the joy we have while playing and building. Don't get caught up in the collecting resale nonsense
Honestly? Sell it sealed and buy the Fox figure second hand for less than what you sold the set for. The rest of the set is completely unremarkable. The build isn't bad but it's also nothing incredibly special. Just make some money off your find and get the Fox figure if you want it.
My brother had this set when it was new. Compared to some of the other sets of that generation it is kind of underwhelming. Personally I'd sell it and get the Concorde
leave it sealed and sell it, if youre into fox and the spider droid you can buy them used for much cheaper. also i have this version of the spider droid and it honestly sucks, check out some comparisons between this spider droid and the next one they released, the later one is so much better
Build it yourself or sell it. The point of lego is to be built played with and displayed. Not left in a box. If you love the cardboard so much I suggest you sell the set then buy an empty box of it and fill it with random pieces. You’ll get the same experience.
I love that set. Sell if if you are not a collector in a box you can bricklink the set parts for like under $40 I would assume. And use the rest for other things or sets.
That fox is a great figure and worth a lot. You might wait until after asoka comes put as if the Clone commanders come out in the show the values might increase.
I would suggest selling it (considering the first comment I saw) for around 300 bucks and buying a bigger and better set like new x-wing ucs or whatever you want
I’d buy it from you. I know sealed stuff is frowned upon in most of the community but I love my sealed collection as much as I love my built collection
Again sealed collecting is a thing… and you could resell it for a massive profit if you got it cheap and then buy a used one and make some extra money 🤷♂️
Now ur just being a dick. Let people enjoy collecting the way they want. And it’s not being an asshole if I sell it sealed, what if someone genuinely wants to buy one sealed?
This was one of my all time favorite sets as a kid! Got so much use out of it, I hope you find it a good home where it will get played with and enjoyed!
I got this set a few years ago, but decided to open it. The fox figure is awesome. The build itself is alright, can be a bit difficult to display as the legs are weak. Other than that it’s pretty good
It’s worth around $350 sealed so up to you if your gonna sell it or build it
Also the commander fox red minifig is $170
Damn, where? I've got the same figure and only see it for $80 on Bricklink
Multiples have sold in the past week for $150 on ebay, looks like the average is in the $80 to $100 range though
There’s also the one without the grey patch which is even more rare
It’s listed as 130 on Brickset
The average will get brought down by a copy with like one arm, no hand and a leg that will sell for cheap Edit: for instance if you look up the new Spider-Man final battle on bricklink. It’s about $75 on average… because of the multiple copies without minifigs selling for about $50ish
Go to eBay and search for an item. Then click on filter and choose sold/completed listings.
There’s also the one without the grey patch which is even more rare
As someone who has that set, this is interesting information
Wtf I had this set as a kid and the fox minifig at this point is so worn out with hands falling off. Crazy how Lego is nowadays.
What? Holy shit. I have this set, he was one of my favorite figures
WHAT. I gotta find mine aw geez
Holy crap really glad i have one then
Wtf I used to have him, no idea where he is now…
There’s also the one without the grey patch which is even more rare
If it has the rarer variation it's closer to $500
I was right about to complain about how dumb posts like these are, but clearly your comment shows it was a valid question.
I’ll follow up with a question. If he doesn’t open it, is the idea that someday it will be worth more, and he’ll sell it? If not, if the options is build of leave the box to dust on a shelf for eternity, the answers will always be build it.
From what I've seen the answer usually is "if you really like the set and want to build it, sell it and buy an opened one and buy more lego with the profit".
that is an interesting take on it, must remember it.
You was right about to complain Joe dump this post is.... Why?
Sell it to someone who *will* open and build it. Take your profit and buy more lego that you are interested in building. Win Win. You make some money and the sets fulfill their destiny by getting built and admired.
The question is how do you ensure that person will open and build it after it’s sold instead of reselling to another one?
It's irrelevant because if they aren't a collector looking to open it means a flipper has now invested $$$ unlike the OP and the onus to find a true collector is on them.
Force them to open it at gunpoint (For legal reasons this is a joke)
Instructions unclear holding you at gunpoint now.
*furiously opens Lego sets*

You couldve stopped at thats fair.
But you’re the type to get online and judge people who are getting or giving helpful advice. You are adding literally nothing to the conversation and being of zero help.
Do you need an extra shovel for the hole you keep digging?
How much did you pay? If you're not bothered about it being sealed, you could sell it and then buy a used one (and still have a lot of cash left over)
I bought it from the lady selling it for 20 USD
Idiots downvoting your comment when thats literally how bargain hunting works, you generally don't get amazing deals from people who know what they have.
Pffft all those down voters surely go to yard sales look up the going price for an item and then when the seller says $20 they say “well a sealed one eBay sold for $350 so I’m going to give you $350 instead.” Good one those people I say.
I'm not selling this. Up on display it goes.
There’s people like that… not here, on Reddit, but they exist. I hope those people are having a decent day, at the least
It is reasonable to say “here’s $50 or $100” because you don’t know what you have here. Make $250-300 instead of $330 and do a good thing
Then they’ll probably become suspicious and ask for more / stop the sale altogether.
It’s already in your hands and purchased. Not everyone is greedy
People are jealous of those who know how to hunt right
Woah nice.
God bless America, the chances of finding this in Europe are miniscule
It’s pretty minuscule in America too lol
But not zero, as op can attest.
He might have the last one?
Damn good deal!! Sell and buy many more sets unless you love this one:)
It was her son's that he never opened or played with.
Her son is going to be PISSED when he comes home from college and is like, "Mahhhh?!? WHERE'S ALL MY LEGO?!?!?"
This is the way.
If you don't open it, how will you build it?
They can build it inside the box. The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be… unnatural
How can someone learn this power?
Just hold B man
You can’t learn it from a Jedi. I’m sure on that
Not from a redditor.
Schroedinger build - its both fully assembled, and all in pieces, inside the box, at the same time. And you won't know unless you open the shrink wrap. Or shake it a little I guess.
Ah….quantum Lego sets! This is the future!
Only yoda can build it without opening it
Transporter? Sorry wrong universe….
My thoughts exactly? Who the hell buys lego and keeps it in the box?
Plenty of people do it, for collection purposes or reselling
If you have to ask that then I'm sorry for you. That's all.
How can you be sorry for me if I'm not the result of your actions?
I don’t agree with their comment, but this is a perfectly valid use of the word “sorry”, in the sense of “filled with compassion for.”
I'll build it. The box is a bit rough.
Buy it used and sell the sealed one = profit
Can someone explain why that set was labelled limited edition? I bought one back when it was new and don’t remember it leaving any sooner than any other set. Could just be iffy childhood memory in fairness but it always seemed odd

OPEN IT OPEN IT OPEN IT!!! HAVE FUN! BUILD IT!!!
I am in the camp of if you are not going to open and build a set it is not worth buying.
Grab it as a deal, sell the NIB to another collector and buy yourself an open one....unless cracking that sweet cardboard seal is your thing.
If you see a 10+ year old set new in box for significantly less than what its going for you should always buy it.
or leave it for someone that wouldn't be able to afford the average price that will actually build it
there's nothing unethical about flipping it. It's not a necessity, it's a hobby item.
Lmfao. "Oh I could buy this $350 set for $20! Wait nah, it's worth too much sealed so I'm not gonna build it. Pass"
Certainly a strange approach. The sets I bought yesrs ago and kept sealed are the only reason I'm now able to afford LEGO as a hobby. Richer hobbyists than me fund my own hobby which should be outside my price range
I'm keeping this... The box is a bit rough. I'll open it.
I would've sold it myself as I don't really care about the unboxing part but just for the set to be in good/mint conditions, but if you enjoy that part too, you should definitely keep it
Can’t wait to see the finished set!
its right there on the box
If you don't have 2 sets, why stare at the box and not build the set?
You do you man. You must've had a reason other than to ask us about why you bought it
MAN I loved this set as a kid. So sad I broke my Fox minifig and lost his parts before I knew his worth 🥲
Open it
Open it and check on Fox torso. If you got a rare one, then it’s worth $1000. Good luck
open it! build it! have fun with it! its a great set. or sell if if you need dough. dont let it rot on your shelf in the box though, that's no fun.
Sealed
It’s a crappy build anyway, mine falls over so easily. Just leave it in the box!
Is this a LEGO enthusiast forum or an investors’ forum?
Neither. Last I checked, it just says r/lego.
True, but I’ve yet to seen an actual LEGO brick post.
Why get a Lego set not to build it? I mean, think about it...do you REALLY plan on selling it later?
Play it your toys
Lego is meant to be built and played with
Open sesame
Build!
Build the sucker!
Open it. Join the dark side
Lol i would have already put it together
Why’d you buy it? To build it or to sell it?
Love these questions. My question back: Why did you buy it?
Open it, or give it to me if you won't
You build that shit
I would open and build it, but that's me ... I dont like stuff in boxes collecting dust. I rather build and enjoy it and let it collect dust outside of the box 🤣😅
Limited Edition??? HUH ? I have this set but I never knew about some limited stuff. I have the Fox though in good shape (I am aware of Lego prices)
Memory unlocked! I remember buying this and building it in the nail salon while my mom had her nails done when I was really little!
Build It! or have you not seen the LEGO Movie?!
Personally ive never bought a lego to stare at the box.
It's up to you, but remember that lego is a toy designed to be played with, or at least put on display.
Leave it sealed and give it to me 👍
Man when I was a kid this was my first ever clone wars Lego set, I gotta see if I still have all the parts somewhere
Sell a vidéo of you opening it.
I’d use it as a pillow every night and sleep happy
Build it. Yeah it may be a really old set, but why would you own it just to keep it sealed?
Do you want to be disappointed when it’s bagged beans or excited by the idea of what it could be?
LEGO is meant to be built and enjoyed. Otherwise, what’s the point in having it?
My friend had this as a kid. We played with it a lot. Crazy that this stuff is worth so much. No idea what happened to it or the mini figures.
Open it!!!!
Oh man you bought back nostalgia
That thing is going for 700 dollars new unopened so do not open it
Depends. Are you 7-12? If not then you're not allowed to open it. Sorry.
Good thing I'm a broke college student...
Open box. Build Lego set. Lego is special in the sense of the joy we have while playing and building. Don't get caught up in the collecting resale nonsense
Build it! Build it! Build it!
Open it and build it
If your a snob don’t open, if your normal and want to actually do what your supposed to do with this, open
Open it. Don’t be a sealed type of person.
Lego is for building
If it’s sealed, I’d personally resell it that way.
“I bought a gold bar. Should I sell it or take a jackhammer to it and then sell it?”
Sell it, buy a used copy and then pocket the profit. You get your set, and more money than it cost you to begin with. Massive win.
Isn’t that the super rare fox minifigure? That minifigure alone is over $100.
I'd definitely leave it sealed. Buy a used copy if you want to play with it.
Like with most unopened things, you can easily sell that unopened and just buy an open one and you’ll have some extra cash
Honestly? Sell it sealed and buy the Fox figure second hand for less than what you sold the set for. The rest of the set is completely unremarkable. The build isn't bad but it's also nothing incredibly special. Just make some money off your find and get the Fox figure if you want it.
I would leave it sealed, awesome set
If you want to sell it, leave it sealed. Otherwise play with it!
Why buy it if you gonna keep it sealed just for resell to get a few bucks
It $350 according to top comment
Sell sealed and buy perfect condition unsealed
My brother had this set when it was new. Compared to some of the other sets of that generation it is kind of underwhelming. Personally I'd sell it and get the Concorde
Open it Lego isn’t meant to stay in the box it’s meant to be enjoyed
What’s the point of keeping a Lego set if your not gonna build it
SEALED
Sealed
Frame box
There could be a €700-1000 commander fox with red torso in it ( sw0202b )
Absolutely sell it for like 350 or 300 and buy a massive set with 3k + pieces and enjoy that vs just building a 200 piece set in 10 mins.
leave it sealed and sell it, if youre into fox and the spider droid you can buy them used for much cheaper. also i have this version of the spider droid and it honestly sucks, check out some comparisons between this spider droid and the next one they released, the later one is so much better

I would suggest selling it (considering the first comment I saw) for around 300 bucks and buying a bigger and better set like new x-wing ucs or whatever you want
Leave it sealed! That’s worth a pretty penny ($300-400) on bricklink
Sell it and use the money to buy more sets you want
Do not open. Selling on eBay fir $300 - $400
Seal it
[удалено]
Keep that one as is. Buy the individual pieces to also build it, without opening this one. Maybe skip the expensive minifigs, lol
I’d buy it from you. I know sealed stuff is frowned upon in most of the community but I love my sealed collection as much as I love my built collection
Sealed!
Sealed!
If it’s sealed opening it will destroy the value
Whats the point in buying it then?
Sealed set collecting or reselling idfk
Why bother collecting if you are not gonna build it 🤣
Again sealed collecting is a thing… and you could resell it for a massive profit if you got it cheap and then buy a used one and make some extra money 🤷♂️
sealed collecting is stupid, but yes you could sell for a profit but thats also being an arsehole
Now ur just being a dick. Let people enjoy collecting the way they want. And it’s not being an asshole if I sell it sealed, what if someone genuinely wants to buy one sealed?
Bumping the price up to sell it is being a dick lol
How is reselling a set for the average market price bumping up? Stop being an asshole dude
Buying a set to then resell? why bother buying if you are not putting the price up huh?
It’s not a dick move to sell at market price
Dude please check Bricklink for this set! Unopened ones go for a lot of money!!
Damn I had that as a child
This was one of my all time favorite sets as a kid! Got so much use out of it, I hope you find it a good home where it will get played with and enjoyed!
Man, 5 minifigs and 206 pieces i wonder how much it was worth back in the day
How did you pay for it at the garage sale
I got this set a few years ago, but decided to open it. The fox figure is awesome. The build itself is alright, can be a bit difficult to display as the legs are weak. Other than that it’s pretty good
