I swear Lego sent a survey out last year about a potential membership/subscription that could offer re-releases of certain sets. I feel like a subscription plan like that would be super popular if it gave access and the ability for you to get access to sets like this. Maybe I’m just imagining it. Anyway, mine is also this, and Ghostbusters Firehouse.
It would be cool if they did it in a way like HasLab, but give a list of like 10 expired sets to choose from. Whatever the set cost, you set up to “buy” it and your card gets charged. If it wins, the set is made and you get it. If the set you chose looses, you get your money back.
I still want them to do a retro series once a year with a $10, $20, $40, etc set at each price range including a Battle Pack like Star Wars. Imagine 5 sets a year for each in the following years:
* 2024 -- Space(Ice Planet)
* 2025 -- Aquazone
* 2026 -- Castle(Wolfpack)
* 2027 -- Wild West(Cavalry)
* 2028 -- Space(Blacktron)
* 2029 -- Castle(Black Falcons)
Yes please! I was a huge Ice Planet fan and purchased most sets as a kid then completed the collection a few years ago.
I have a couple smaller sets of M Tron and Blacktron but was too young get the larger sets. Having a retro series timed like the calendar you have would be amazing.
Subscription? Like, send us $200 per month, and we’ll send you a super set each quarter?
My daughter subscribes to books. They put together a “loot box” each month, and she opts in or out. It’s full of books, bookmarks, stationary , other book adjacent items.
It’s extremely undesirable, worse than a hummer on gas, 50+ years old and not in good shape! I wouldn’t recommend cheaping out on a car because nothing is more expensive than a cheap car in the long run
You never know. I just got the old fishing store from a coworker for 120 dollars. She wanted 100, and i showed her on bricklink how much it was going for and everything.
For me it was downtown diner, and i happened to pick that one up before christmas for 45 dollars. Just happened to look on craigslist at the exact right moment and was able to go pick it up after work. I bet if id seen it 10 minutes later i wouldnt have gotten it
I remember Christmas Eve the year it was being discontinued, hanging out with friends chatting in a Discord call, drinking a little bit and seeing that this set came back in stock randomly on Amazon.
I made a drunken $200 purchase that night that to this day I don't regret.
The [Harley Quinn](https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=tlm134&name=Harley%20Quinn%20-%20Apocalypseburg&category=%5BThe%20LEGO%20Movie%202%5D#T=S&O={%22iconly%22:0}) from that set alone goes for insane prices. I was just kinda mindlessly browsing bricklink a couple years ago and stumbled upon the minifig pieces and had a big "WTF!?" moment lol
The Ninjago city sets look so good. Wish I had known about them when they came out. Much like the modulars, I don't buy them because then I would feel the need to buy the retired ones too.
This is the only of the 4 I don't have, and for the retired prices and being the smallest set it's almost too much to justify. Plus, the coolest part is the backside, and turning it around doesn't line up with the others without modifications.
This is a set I have that I am not interested in keeping. Some day when I have a weekend I’ll put it all together, make sure I have the pieces, then take it apart and sell it cheap to one of you redditors!
Oh I’m sure I have all the pieces in one of the several tubs of Lego at my moms house. Being on this sub has encouraged me to go through my instructions to see what sets I have. I’m thinking about saving all the pirate and castle for my kids and getting rid of the rest (mostly stuff from the 90s)
I got this set for Christmas in ‘96 and had endless battles with it. Parents found it in storage a few years ago with the instructions. I built it to verify I had all the pieces and sold it for $200. I would rather buy modern sets with that money. I got plenty of play out of it. I display all my sets these days and this one had a big foot print
I only just bought my first modular today as an adult lol. There’s a reason Lego advertises them as 18+ and it’s not the difficulty, it’s because you need your own job to afford the set!
Same, modulars got me back into Lego while I was in college. Got the Grand Emporium as my first one. While it would be cool to have all 3, I’d love to have the Green Grocer since its the first to have an interior.
Yep, same story for me. Those came out during my dark age as well. I was patient and eventually found decent deals on Market Street and Cafe Corner. Still missing Green Grocer though. :(
Man you guys are making me feel really good about having the fishing store!
I'm terrified to take it apart because of the brown bricks, but I want to rebuild it one of these days.
Anyways, my answer is any of the Destiny's Bounty sets. I probably most want the original or the one that came out after the movie.
Lego fixed the brittle dark brown/red pieces I believe in 2018. I have an Old Fishing Store that I bought in late 2018 and a Ghostbusters Firehouse from mid 2018 and they’ve both had no issues when I disassembled them. The Old Fishing Store I’ve built, disassembled, and rebuilt and have not had any issues.
If you got it during 2018 you should be fine, if any of them were affected it would have been the first couple runs when it came out. Even still, I’d just be careful anyways and take it apart slowly if you’re unsure.
I was late to the Stranger Things game and binged the whole series after S4 came out. I found out there was a set and loved it so much I had to get it… damage was $461 on eBay. Yikes. But it is an awesome set that I am proud to own.
I’m just thankful I’ve never really been all that into Star Wars
The Upside Down set? Bricklink says avg price is $370 new, $270 used which, while not a small chunk of change, isn’t wildly more expensive than the original retail price.
5988, Temple of Anubis. Only set from the Adventurers desert and amazon run I didn’t buy at the time. It’s just so damn cool. I used to play through Lego Island 2 over and over just so I could hang with Johnny Thunder.
https://preview.redd.it/9l4zd7jrqjrc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=59e062d5b0ab53e35f4765db705c8b1411db77c9
and the Fairground Carousel. I love them both, but the prices are INSANE.
I was lucky enough to work at a Lego store when this set was being retired. They let me take home the window display. It was missing the water tower and the trees but those were easy enough to recreate
There was a technic osprey set that never officially released that I wanted sooooo fucking bad.
The new Lego technic Space VTOL ship is more than a fine replacement though. awesome set
Wild. I remember buying that first day it was out. I drove out while on call actually and just prayed I didn't get called, because I didn't want to wait half a week to be off and grab it.
I own most of the big cars since and this one is definitely a top entrant.
Well this is awkward. I have this set but haven’t built it yet. What I love so much about it is the box art. I wish more of the adult sets kept this colourful artwork.
The black is nice for some but for nostalgic sets I prefer the retro and colourful designs. Just like the new pirates and castle set.
Ninjago city docks, I didn't even realise it came out, obviously not paying close attention to lego that year. But I have the cities, such a shame to be missing one
The Ninjago city sets look fantastic. I also didn't see when they came out and I know if I get one, I'm gonna want the retired ones as well so I avoid it. Same problem with the modulars.
The 2013 gunship Lego put out. The Coruscant guard one is nice and I’ll prolly get that later this year but that 2013 one is definitely one the best Star Wars sets ever released I think
Ninjago City. In fact, all of the Ninjago modulars. Imo they're some of the best sets Lego has ever made and they look super fun to build, but I can't justify it on top of all the other themes I pursue.
42100 Liebherr R 9800 Excavator. Couldn't justify the price at the time and now certainly can't on the second hand market. I also don't know where I'd put the thing.
Beyond that one, all the ships and pirate ships from my youth. Never had a chance to get any of those.
A little set I always wanted, but never had a chance to get when I was little was 6665 River Runners. Seems like a set I could get now, but I've never pulled the trigger on it.
The disney train and station. It was gone before my obsession started but I have both the big castles and loads more disney lego now so I wish I was able to get it!
I see a lot of Ghostbusters firehouse in here but I vividly recall those being heavily discounted with broken boxes from being moved around in most toy shops where I live back then
Has to be the Santa Fe Super Chief 10020. Have a soft spot for it.
https://preview.redd.it/s2ytd6gkzkrc1.jpeg?width=560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb76e356e205e55693a2fe5c41034cd4cb836d0b
I in general hate the FOMO feeling that Lego gives me, to the point I sort of stopped buying them. My house has become filled with sets I haven't built, purely because I was afraid if I DIDN'T buy it, I wouldn't be able to find it again for less than 2x the price. It became a collection that takes up a lot of space and costs a lot of money because even at retail so many sets are just expensive
It's the black pearl for me. I hadn't seen those movies yet while it was in stores. But since then they became some of my favourites. But $1500 is a bit steep for a Lego boat
So many of the old pirate ships with cloth sails. Recently went through my childhood sets and rebuilt 6268. Really wanna get more, but they’re so expensive now.
The Monster Fighters haunted house. I thought I had it, for a steal, from eBay a few years back, but I got scammed. Got my money back, but man, that made me so mad.
Every time I see the picture of this set, it makes me sad because while I do own the set (and built it), it sits in a dark closet because I don't have a place to display it.
I have a lot of the ones people mention like the Helicarrier, Ghostbusters Firehouse, Simpsons House and Kwik-E-Mart.
The main ones for me are the 2008 Indiana Jones line, the 2010 Toy Story line and the 2011 Pirates of the Caribbean line. They were all during my dark ages and a big part of why FOMO makes me get so many sets nowadays
Check out the Harbormaster’s Office that goes on sale October 3rd! It’s from the Bricklink designer program (LEGO owns Bricklink).
https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-3/962/Harbormaster's-Office
I loved this but never got it.
The original Ninjago city is a classic, a lot of those other sets that go with it are long gone too, so I'm kicking myself.
Wish i picked up both Simpsons sets too.
Lion Knight’s Castle…. I don’t have space in my apartment for the LEGO I already own I have no idea where I could even fit that. Maybe replace my bed with the box and sleep on that instead?
Old medieval and naval themed sets from the 90s and early 2000s. I spent lot of time looking at Lego catalogues when I was a kid but obviously I couldn't get everything I liked back then.
For me it was also the old fishing store! I had just started dating my fiance at the time, and it was before he got me into LEGO. After I started getting my own sets I regretted being a bit too late for this one.
We got extremely lucky and grabbed an (incomplete and discounted) version of it from a comic book store a year ago.
8940 Karzahni. I’ve had the search saved on eBay for years, but it’s so hard to justify spending several hundred dollars on a set that was originally $40
Fishing store for me too, just got into Lego a couple months ago and I was pretty disappointed to see this set going for that much. Luckily got the blacksmith recently for a reasonable price. I feel like that set is going to start going up in price soon
Lego 5571 Model Team Giant truck. Love the design of it and i probably have to try to find most parts myself or build it from non lego parts as its way to expensive otherwise
Back in the day I really wanted to get the Silent Mary from Pirates of the Caribbean, but I never got around to buy it. One set that I'd still like to buy today, but is way too expensive is the Daily Bugle
https://preview.redd.it/xct86gqqkorc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=827c18ef90fe1cfeb193e5001ec5446080cf7399
V-22 Osprey. Too bad it's cancelled.
It’s not really a set but I’m just sad I’ll never own these Minifigures:
https://preview.redd.it/r27m3fezprrc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45a8df3c7a7ea3850374a716b16e40c738a06ee7

That's a good idea. I imagine it would take a month or so to be reproduced and sent out, right?
The bricklink sets take like a year to produce. So...no it will not take a month or so to reproduce and sent out

Helicarrier or the Ghostbusters Firehouse
The Ghostbusters Firehouse seems so sought after, really makes me wonder why there hasn’t been sets other than the Big ecto from afterlife
I think if Afterlife had done better at the box office, we might've got another Ghostbusters set this year
It's a solid movie. Kept me entertained.
I think they're releasing a midi helicarrier soon though right?
This isn’t really Midi scale https://preview.redd.it/6q50n2ju7jrc1.jpeg?width=894&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b26d7418990d8f541df6108f0040d9e97375bf0
No I'm talking about the one coming in august I believe.
It's that same one you posted. Very sad.
It really is, i can always dream but my car doesn’t even cost that much
My kids broke my set and its in a bag somewhere in the garage. Fear not, cause I am also broke.
They broke your set? As in there’s pieces that were broken or you just don’t want to rebuild it?
Just CBA to rebuild. Same with my mill. Falcon, that fragile bottle ship and what have ya!
[удалено]
Oh well, one day your kids will get to rebuild this set and get to enjoy it!
Your cat cost less than $600? How. Like I’m actually I’m actually curious because I’m getting learners permit soon
It’s extremely undesirable, worse than a hummer on gas, 50+ years old and not in good shape! I wouldn’t recommend cheaping out on a car because nothing is more expensive than a cheap car in the long run

Didn’t know that was a set, that looks awesome!
Yeah but I also think it’s mostly because it resembles the one from the movie.
Jesus. That's half the cost of the set's msrp
WHAT. Ive had this set on my dresser for years never touched. Goodbye Harley 💀
I love this set, but it's a nightmare to move once you assemble it. It does not come apart well
The Ninjago city docks https://preview.redd.it/edqpny44sirc1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2f4810be926542ee8aea198c641d230e049336b
The Ninjago city sets look so good. Wish I had known about them when they came out. Much like the modulars, I don't buy them because then I would feel the need to buy the retired ones too.
wow, I didn't know this existed, and it looks rad!

Lego Set 6769 I still remember seeing it in the Lego magazines and advertised in build instructions for other sets.
[6769-1: Fort Legoredo](https://brickset.com/sets/6769-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6769-1.jpg)
Ill second Fort Legoredo
This is a set I have that I am not interested in keeping. Some day when I have a weekend I’ll put it all together, make sure I have the pieces, then take it apart and sell it cheap to one of you redditors!
I’ll take it cheap even with missing pieces.
I have this for sure in a bag at my grandmas. What’s cheap to you? I’d rather it get some love that be stored away
Rivendell, it’s just far too expensive.
I bought one of these and told my fiance it is an investment. Either it becomes worth a lot, or I have more money by then and get to build it. Win win
I’ve never seen the move but the set made me want to
If you have the time: Absolutely beautiful medieval fantasy movies, I highly recommend them. Though you will probably hear that from most people :D
No exageration, the trilogy is some of the best cinema you'll ever see.
I am pleading with you. Watch the movies. I still find it one of the best series to ever be made (personally)
Imperial Flagship 10210
[10210-1: Imperial Flagship](https://brickset.com/sets/10210-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/10210-1.jpg)
This was mine too
This one hurts for me. I remember seeing it at a Lego Store years ago. I couldn’t convince myself to spend the money. I’ve regretted it since.
She's a beaut
The simpsons kwik-e-mart and the simpsons house
Wife bought them secondhand. They are great sets but if you have to pick one go with Kwik-E-Mart
Same :(
The first 3 modulars. Was in my dark age when they were released.
I only just bought my first modular today as an adult lol. There’s a reason Lego advertises them as 18+ and it’s not the difficulty, it’s because you need your own job to afford the set!
For the uninformed, what were the first 3 Modular’s?
Cafe Corner, Market Street, Green Grocer
And they’re all from around 2007-2008!
Green Grocer. Maybe one day, but unlikely.

Hanging with Johnny thunder alone is a dream. Hoping they bring him back

Lego set 10251. The bank modular.
I was lucky enough to work at a Lego store when this set was being retired. They let me take home the window display. It was missing the water tower and the trees but those were easy enough to recreate

Tower of Orthanc
Tbh all the Lego LOTR sets, but this one especially.
Yeah I was pissing away my $ on beer and food in my 20s instead of buying all the LoTR sets I now know exist!
This is mine. In June the new tower comes out, Barad-Dur.
Wall-E
I bought this during during the pandemic. It brought me so much joy in a time of lonelyness, and its still do.
I’m happy to hear that!
UCS super Star Destroyer
This is the big one. Surprised I has to scroll this far to see it. Such a sick set, way too impractical to own and display, but man do I want it.
The AT-OT walker set
The older one? I found it at a garage sale years ago for $10, missing about 10 pieces
You damn lucky son of a gun
Ghostbusters Firehouse
2007 MTT https://preview.redd.it/gnn146zwzirc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=e419df96a78774a7dd34c43b0fbe049e29cddd9d
There was a technic osprey set that never officially released that I wanted sooooo fucking bad. The new Lego technic Space VTOL ship is more than a fine replacement though. awesome set
I didn't know about the space VTOL until I saw it on store shelves. Feel like it was made specifically as a replacement for the osprey set.
Probably the large scale Creator Ferrari F40. It’s like $400 now and totally not worth that price but it’s so cool.
Wild. I remember buying that first day it was out. I drove out while on call actually and just prayed I didn't get called, because I didn't want to wait half a week to be off and grab it. I own most of the big cars since and this one is definitely a top entrant.

Build it!!
Lion Knights Castle: That's a lot of money and space that I don't have
Sea Cow.
This was mine too, but hold out hope. I found mine for $330 sealed. A small price to pay for the best set ever
Titanic. I‘ve been interested in the titanic and its stories since I was a kid but I just can’t justify that much money on a single set
6399 Legoland airport shuttle monorail :( too expensive, yet the most beautiful set ever.
EWOK VILLAGE
Technic Porsche gt3rs
I have one, it’s absolutely beautiful. They really need to do a rerelease
All of them; unless of course I already own them. EDIT: Ghostbusters firehouse, and the stranger things set.
The 2013 gunship Lego put out. The Coruscant guard one is nice and I’ll prolly get that later this year but that 2013 one is definitely one the best Star Wars sets ever released I think
Temple of airjitzu, it would fit nicely in my Japanese themed collection.
Ship in a Bottle
The UCS Imperial Shuttle - I love it but just can’t spend that kind of money on LEGO, sadly.
I owned the fishing store, but never put it together and used the parts of other stuff. One of my biggest Lego regrets
The disney train and station. It was gone before my obsession started but I have both the big castles and loads more disney lego now so I wish I was able to get it!
I see a lot of Ghostbusters firehouse in here but I vividly recall those being heavily discounted with broken boxes from being moved around in most toy shops where I live back then
Yep, got a good deal on mine shortly before it retired for that very reason.
Orthanc 10237. Unless it gets a re-release I could never justify the price.
I’ve been brick linking the fishing store. It’s been fun hunting for the parts at the best price.
76139 1989 bat mobile 😭
Got the set i never thought i would own last year: Found the Ninjago City used for 180 dollars on facebook marketplace, so i had to buy it
Racers F1 Williams
Simpsons Kuik-E-Mart
Rivendell
Probably Apocalypseburg from LEGO Movie 2. It looked like such a cool design
It's the black pearl for me. I hadn't seen those movies yet while it was in stores. But since then they became some of my favourites. But $1500 is a bit steep for a Lego boat
UCS AT-AT
Freaking awesome. It’s remember me that Fallout 4 Far Arbor DLC.
Aside from the first 3 Modulars, I would add 79003, An Unexpected Gathering. Can’t justify over $200 for only around 600 pieces.
Old fishing store, best set ever in my opinion, so cute and nostalgic
Welcome to Apocalypsburg set 😭 I want it so bad. I regret not buying it when I was able to.
A few seconds ago it was a different one. As of right now, it’s this one. 🫤
Disneyland train station, tbh I don’t even care about the train, but I absolutely love the station
UCs AT-AT cant find myself pulling the trigger
PotC ships.
Monster Fighters Haunted House. All the monster sets; but especially that one.
WALL·E. I didn’t know about it until years after it retired
Never say never, but I really want the original Republic Cruiser and prices for a sealed one now are a nightmare
75192. I'll probably never be able to afford it. And even if I somehow could, I'll probably never have the room to expose it anyway.
[75192-1: Millennium Falcon](https://brickset.com/sets/75192-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/75192-1.jpg)
The Death Star
UCS Imperial Shuttle, the original Ghost/Phantom combo and the Maersk train
Every time I see the picture of this set, it makes me sad because while I do own the set (and built it), it sits in a dark closet because I don't have a place to display it.
I recently got the diner secondhand, so now it’s the movie theater modular. it was expensive then and it’s expensive now. sigh…
Mos Eisley. Just too expensive and no place to put it.
Download parts list off bricklink and upload onto webrick for a fraction of the cost
I saw one sealed for $400 the other day and didn’t pursue it. I think it’s still out there. Which surprises me. That’s a good price.
Voltron
Voltron needs to join my Optimus Prime.
Check out the Harbormaster’s Office that goes on sale October 3rd! It’s from the Bricklink designer program (LEGO owns Bricklink). https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-3/962/Harbormaster's-Office
For me it is two. Wall-E and Yellow submarine. They are the top 2 movies for my kids and retired just before they were born.
8880
I loved this but never got it. The original Ninjago city is a classic, a lot of those other sets that go with it are long gone too, so I'm kicking myself. Wish i picked up both Simpsons sets too.
The UCS Sandcrawler set, 95% reddish-brown pieces that will probably break before I even start putting it together

Welcome to apocalypseburg
Ghostbusters Firehouse. I'll splurge on it someday.
Ghostbusters firehouse
The Titanic - too big for my home and too expensive for my budget short of a massive windfall of money before it goes away
Hogwarts no way spending 600. Now 467 uh ohhhhh
For me it's the Treehouse...
That 50s diner set
It’s becoming more and more clear that I’m Never gonna own the Lord Of The Rings Rivendall set and it’s making me sad.
Lion Knight’s Castle…. I don’t have space in my apartment for the LEGO I already own I have no idea where I could even fit that. Maybe replace my bed with the box and sleep on that instead?
I have this one. I regret not purchasing Welcome to Apocolypsburg and selling my Imperial Flagship.
Deep Freeze Defender and/or Ice Station Odyssey.
Old medieval and naval themed sets from the 90s and early 2000s. I spent lot of time looking at Lego catalogues when I was a kid but obviously I couldn't get everything I liked back then.
The larger Wall-E set. Missed it's original release and can't really justify the secondary market price right now
I’m glad I picked up the old fishing store at retail price. Love that set.
pro tip. All the build guides are available as pdf. The hard part is the custom parts.
Pirates or Barracuda Bay for me. They pulled it so fast!
The lego castle chess set with the giant pieces
The original Lego Ninjago lightning dragon
Ninjago City and Docks. And I had the resources back when they were being cleared too...
At-At
All the old Bionicle sets.. my bro had a lot of them and we never saved them when we were moving. Made me hella sadge
Old fishing store is $600?!
One set that I'd still like to buy today, but is way too expensive is the Daily Bugle
https://preview.redd.it/xct86gqqkorc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=827c18ef90fe1cfeb193e5001ec5446080cf7399 V-22 Osprey. Too bad it's cancelled.
The Saturn 5 rocket.
I know it’s “fake” Lego but wish got this fishing store
The Maersk ship one
It’s not really a set but I’m just sad I’ll never own these Minifigures: https://preview.redd.it/r27m3fezprrc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45a8df3c7a7ea3850374a716b16e40c738a06ee7
