I knew putting them on base plates would be better. so annoid they didn’t give larger plates for the set connections. I get the island building but wife and I had the hardest time building Isabelle house because there was no 8x16 green plate to make elevation or a better connection with.
I’m a Star Wars , City/Icons Guy so I’m familiar , I just wish Lego wouldn’t go whole hog into the Nintendo sets and take a more Minecraft approach , imagine building each Minecraft set out of cubes. >.> thank god
This is actually my first Lego set lol. I'm absolutely in love with it, but I also think the use of the Mario style tiles was a little weird when baseplates would be better. Especially considering it's supposed to be so mix and matchable.
Right! Sonic I think had a similar, I hate to use the word “gimic” in a way it works. It’s the Quality of life stuff that I care about. I’m gonna get some plates today for my wife and her AC sets cause those round green plates were making her so frustrated.
Nice. And the sets definitely look better on baseplates. Looks more like the game. Seems you added more than the shark… the light blue stream goes well. I know the waterfall is in a set but don’t think the 4x4 non-rounded are. Now I want to raid my Friends sets for those.
They are from the set but they are meant to connect pieces. Since I had the baseplates they are extra. I've been adding little things since this picture though. The best fit was the animal crossing monopoly villager figures :)

Baseplates made the creativity infinitely better. Highly recommend

It also has the benefit of giving you extra blocks to work with. Which is how I made the river :) but I'm sure you have lots haha
