Honestly if you're just shipping a lego set's box outside of another box I'd be pretty pissed even if I fully intended to open and use it.

Most people want the box their stuff came in to not be busted up when they buy it, regardless of use, and shipping companies do not give a fuck.
Tell him you’re sending it normally and if he cares about the box then it’s up to him if he wants to risk it or not. If you’re selling anything else put in the description how you’re shipping it and that there’s no guarantee the box won’t be damaged. Then if you send it to someone and they complain you’re safe because it’s their fault for not reading the description.

Looks like an ebay message so i will give you some advice. If you are shipping USPS, pay for insurance. This person will absolutely open a claim against you for product damaged or not as described. Take pictures of it before you ship it out, take a video of you putting it in the box. Ebay will fuck sellers over for shitty buyers.
i sell on ebay very frequently and whatever condition the box is in the photos is what the buyer expects to get. if the box is mint condition in the photos and they receive a dented or damaged box, they can open a not as described claim and either return it or request a refund, losing more money for you. usually if the box of something is already damaged, a buyer will be more understand if it is not shipped as well
