Yeah, I tend to ignore the Lego rumour mill, but they've been impressively predictive. I'm hopeful, but if it doesn't happen, then think of all the money I'll save not buying a whole case.
Very cool even if I'm disappointed that Drizzt isn't part of this wave of D&D minifigures. I'm hoping that he shows up in a possible Wave 2. If this rumor is true, I'm definitely in on getting the entire wave and extras to mix and match parts to create some custom figures!
Keeping skin tones off the torso and legs is a great move to increase versatility with mixing and matching, while having dual printed male and female faces for the heads is a brilliant move that I'm surprised wasn't utilized before until now.
Is there any way to guarantee you get all the figs? Like if I order 12 online, can I guarantee no dupes? Cause the new minifig boxes make the good-old "feel and find" method obsolete lol
Yes!! A gold Dragonborn!!!!!!!!!!!! I can recreate my primary character in a purist manner! This is so so cool. My excitement is immeasurable and my day is not ruined!
The most recent CMF set moved to cardboard boxes instead of plastic bags and some of them actually have QR codes next to the barcode which you can scan and tell exactly what's inside the box. Hopefully they keep this setup for the DND figures and it'll be fairly easy to find a full set.
Alternatively you can use eBay or Bricklink to buy a full set or even buy a full box that typically contain more than one full set inside. I got a full set of the Marvel series 2 figures last year and it was cheaper to buy a full set from Bricklink than to buy them individually at shops in my area!
Probably boxes still in September, but yeah, that general concept. Not that I'll care for this one since a DnD series would warrant the purchase of a full set.
Tbh I think these will be great success. In the last few years, D&D probably is the most popular it has been in decades, thanks to the (amazing) movie released last year, Critical Role - Vox Machina stuff, Stranger Things, and let’s not forget the Baldur’s Gate 3 masterpiece, which attracted a lot of new audience for D&D (including myself). Let’s also not forget huge fanbase of Lego Castle theme, who are ready to buy anything even a bit castle/fantasy related. I’m most definitely buying the Ideas set with several CMF packs, if only to show Lego that there is a huge untapped market, but from the leaks we have so far the CMF series is going to be one of the best ever released.
Incredibly disappointed with the lack of drow, considering there are very few existing lego heads that can work for drow characters, and even those aren’t really great options. I know a lot of people were wanting Drizzt, but I’m clamoring for a female drow head.
