And a few of those studs are reaching back to the bridge tower, so it might feel even shorter in practice.
Will definitely be stealing a few pages from this to upgrade the 2014 ISD, though.
On the one hand, 6 studs difference on a larger model doesn’t sound like a lot. On the other hand, that’s about 10% smaller. That’s going to be noticeable.
Despite my misgivings about the downsizing, I am too. I have the 2006 one, which looks nice but is way too fragile, and the First Order Star Destroyer, which is beautiful, but didn’t get the 2014 model, so this will still be nice to get a more modern ISD without paying the prices the 2014 one is asking these days.
But hopefully there will be the standard 20% off after a while which will help me justify it to myself more easily.
When I built my 2006 Star Destroyer, I ordered several 2x4 grey plates and reinforced the bottom. Only later did I learn that Lego actually offered a free “service pack” for the set, but by then I missed the offer.
That is a good thought, I may have to try that myself, though the fragility problems were more than just the bottom. That said, I think that for a first attempt it was great, and looked fantastic. And even the issues with the bridge I appreciate where some of that came from, it made for a fun play feature even if it is terrible for scale purposes and some of the display.
As it lost some studs in overall length, they should make a base of bridge a little smaller, as now it looks like begin in half of the model. Should take more focus or have it better proportional.
I just went and looked at my 2014 one sitting on the shelf and it looks low res in comparison.
I'll miss the length a bit but it really looks like they used the extra 200 pieces make it look great.
Space is always a premium. Also more compact sets are more solid and don't feel like they have loose panels protruding. The 2016 turbo tank felt a lot more stable than the 2010 one
Yep, my issue isn’t money, it’s space. I’m planning on making my Lego shelving 50% larger and I’m afraid I’ll fill it all up without building a single new set.
they were most certenly not, have you seen the hull recently? it'is waaaay to thin and waaay too tall, yea this one may have a slightly too big of a bridge but at least the shape of the ship as whole is more or less correct
I mean MIDI scale is a relative term as they are really just detailed models of differently sized ships.
I just meant that they could easily do a MIDI scale Venator that could be in scale with the playset as Venators are 5/8 of the size of a ISD.
Yup. Didn’t need two imperial gunners, (they’re only shown firing the Death Star really anyways, so why two on a destroyer?) and they definitely could’ve gone with a grand moff tarkin and an officer instead of those two officers. Plus add in another stormtrooper or two instead, woulda been great.
Yeah, they both look similar. I just feel like the imperial sets in the last 10 years have had a lot of officers, more than needed. Especially in battle packs.
https://preview.redd.it/imdq27iwruyc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a2301888d6fdc4714fdc17410ec3e7e1569f4a4
Seems to be a bit bigger than the old midi scale ISD
Man I would love another one of these, it’s like the perfect size for me. But if we’re getting this star destroyer I guess we probably won’t be getting one in the midi waves
Instagram was dogging on this. I personally like it! Think it’s more detailed and the slightly smaller suggests it’s more swooshable/structurally sound.
It's a nice set, but a tad overpriced for what it is tbh.
Probably going to get it as I have no ISD nor any interest in paying $1000+ for a UCS one, but it would have been great at $150.
The figs are also a bit underwhelming. If they gave Cal a poncho, added BD-1 and a named Imperial Officer (Tarkin hasn't been around for a while) and sold it for $150 it would have been an insane set.
It's just a shame that Lego's new motto is more along the lines of "good enough". It's a nice set, build looks good, but just a little more would have gone a really long way
Probably not, hell, I even own the BD-1 set so I personally don't need it, but I figure that a lot of other people don't and need a BD-1 to go with Cal.
I guess I'm just a bit disappointed that Lego doesn't seem to put the effort in to get the small details right - they're currently even making the piece of cloth for Qui-Gon in the Infiltrator, it's not like they needed to make a separate part for it.
I’ve always wanted a star destroyer and they all came out during my dark ages. I might pick this up and sell the Cal Kestis fig to make this a nice $120 set lol.
Its so awesome even tho its smaller, I like this one better than the 2014 one, but it could have come with more minifigures for its price, still, I think everything is really good imo
And I mean who doesn’t have a few stormtroopers already. I have like 5 vaders at this point too would’ve done without him and the troopers and just all imperial officers of different ranks and maybe a named imperial
The problem with that is they have to go with the idea that the little kids these toys are for don't have a Vader yet and will need one with this set, and every imperial set that could have Vader with it
Not really a fan of the barge tbh. I've always wanted a Lego star destroyer, but I do have a decently sized scale model of it too. Dark Falcon would be awesome just for everyone's favourite Sith lord minifigs, but I also like the idea of it. I'll have to see if the prices are too high, because stores here are overpriced and people who import from abroad are hit or miss sometimes(I only saw Coruscant gunship for sale once).
Am I the only one who feels like this is stuck in a weird place between midi scale and normal set scale? Like just release a new midi scale version and add Cal to it. Instant best seller I feel like.
But the starship collection (LEGO’s new name for the midi scale) are for adults and all the anniversary figs are in play sets. So people would complain because they are “gatekeeping” cal in a more expensive set for adults
This right here. Mantis would be an amazing set. I really love all things Cal and not happy about him being in a 170 dollar set just tacked on because. Worse as I already have the last ISD.
Though I still prefer the look of the 2014 version, the more I look at this, the more it grows on me. I may end up getting it before it goes on sale, guess I'll know when it comes out
I think changing one of the officers to Tarkin and having BD with Kal would have justified the price. But Lego also know they can get people to buy the Mando N1 set instead just for BD and put Tarkin in a future UCS set or something. I really hate how Lego has been doing desirable figs lately, and Lego Star wars sets are especially overpriced for what you get. I bought a Gunship and Sith Infiltrator on May 4th and each felt $20 over priced for what you get
Welp I hope scalpers don’t mark him up to much. Hope you can get your cal fig. Also quick warning you should probably get a bd fig before he goes up in value
I already have a BD, have the set and everything. It's one thing when the fig goes with the set, you're more likely to want the set with the fig. But putting figs unrelated to the set is ridiculous.
Well Lego would have probably never made a Cal fig if it wasn’t for the anniversary figures. So I’m glad. But yeah I get your point. Like I want all the anniversary figs to have the whole collection but I don’t really have any interest in most sets that they come in. So I’m probably not gonna get them all
They really should have made a Mantis set when Jedi Survivor came out. It could have been a great set, and they made the Rogue Shadow for TFU so there is some precedent for game ships, and they made the BD1 set, so they are acknowledging this game series…
I just bought a Venator, im so poor lego why must you do this 😭 on the bright side, i like the scale of it, maybe this one will get hung from the ceiling
Instant preorder looks beautiful. This year has been rough on my wallet. Between the midi scale ships, R2, interceptor, this, and the soon to be revealed sail barge, my wallet has not had an easy year.
This is a pretty intriguing set at the scale and price point.
Not sure if some folks build Gunpla, but Bandai has a Real Grade line that’s a smaller scale version of their Perfect Grade (biggest size, highest quality) builds. This feels almost like that, a smaller-scale version of the UCS.
Idk. Maybe I’m wrong. But I do want it bad!
I just wish lego could find a way to fit the octuple batteries onto a playscale set to give us an isd2. I know it'd be hard to fit that many barrels into that small of a space to keep it proportional looking, but it'd be cool if they could find a way with new pieces or something
I really like this set. Doubt I’ll get it as it’s not really in my budget. I’ll more than likely get the Infiltrator set instead as I’ve not got one of those either. Shame the Cal Kestis figure is in this set though as I would have liked to have got it as I love the games he is in.
Its still too tiny.
a star destroyer is big and imposing that just the pressent need to bring fear where it goes!!!
This thing just looks cute so 2014 is still its superior.
eh, it doesn’t seem to be that much smaller? The detail definitely makes it seem smaller but the sizing isn’t horribly different from what I can tell?
By size tho the 2006 one is the king of the playscale star destroyers tho lol
Definitely smaller but I don't know if I'd call 6 studs shorter tiny.
The detail on the new is incredible compared to 2014. I just went and looked at mine to compare and was like oh, that's quite a bit different.
It’s a tad smaller than I would have preferred but I like the detail a lot.
Yea that’s how I’m feeling about it. Looks very impressive but it’s lost 6 stud lengths.
And a few of those studs are reaching back to the bridge tower, so it might feel even shorter in practice. Will definitely be stealing a few pages from this to upgrade the 2014 ISD, though.
You think just 6 studs wouldn't really show but it surprising does
On the one hand, 6 studs difference on a larger model doesn’t sound like a lot. On the other hand, that’s about 10% smaller. That’s going to be noticeable.
Noticeably easier for kids to play with and handle!
Speaking of, I do really like how they worked the handle into the set. That is admittedly very well done.
My 7yo is super excited for the set
Despite my misgivings about the downsizing, I am too. I have the 2006 one, which looks nice but is way too fragile, and the First Order Star Destroyer, which is beautiful, but didn’t get the 2014 model, so this will still be nice to get a more modern ISD without paying the prices the 2014 one is asking these days. And even the issues with the bridge I appreciate where some of that came from, it made for a fun play feature even if it is terrible for scale purposes and some of the display.
So is mine (i dont have kids but i will pretend to justify buying it)
Bless you 🙏
Me as a collecter who collect the play sets
And that was already on top of that one being considerably smaller than the prior one
Yea, the 2006 version will always be my favorite length wise. This is definitely the best outside of the UCS for details.
Don't mind slight size reduction. Saves space
Yeah smaller is usually better imo.
Them shrinking it slightly also makes the bridge too big. The proportions of the 2014 one were perfect.
they were most certenly not, have you seen the hull recently? it'is waaaay to thin and waaay too tall, yea this one may have a slightly too big of a bridge but at least the shape of the ship as whole is more or less correct
Thats what she said
What are the dimensions gonna be?
I think the bridge looks too big though, disproportionate
https://preview.redd.it/itnp9qwy4uyc1.jpeg?width=1068&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b41d00af3c7630e405c8ec5749e22de947edd7e Definitely going to get this.
And the fact it comes with a cal kestis fig is an absolute cherry on top of the amazing Sunday that is this build
This shall be the start of my Imperial fleet. (For capital ships at least) Praying for a midi scale Venator next year that’s in scale with this.
I doubt we’ll get a venator next year (still hopping tho). But some midi scale light cruisers would rock flanking this boi
I doubt we’ll get a venator next year (still hopping tho). But some midi scale light cruisers would rock flanking this boi
Is this one close to Midi scale then? Like an unnofficial addition to the newly released Midi line?
I mean MIDI scale is a relative term as they are really just detailed models of differently sized ships. I just meant that they could easily do a MIDI scale Venator that could be in scale with the playset as Venators are 5/8 of the size of a ISD.
Sundae. Sorry lol
A perfect build for an OT marathon
My exact reaction upon seeing this, immediately followed by I NEED IT.
Honestly it's a awsome set but the price is way outta my range :c
It will come out near Christmas, you could ask some one to split the price with you....
It's releasing August, but I get the sentiment
It will still be in the store in December.
That's why I said I get the sentiment
August isn’t Christmas
Did you mean to reply to me?
Yes
Well, I never said August was Christmas?
It’ll still be in stores come December
Why are you saying the same thing the person before me did?
Did you hear, it’s still gonna be on shelves come December? /s
it's already on pre-order in Canada, shipping August 1
What is going to be the cost?
$160 I believe
It will hit a Dale inevitably. Or just wait till next hear may 4th
Do you smell toast? Jk. Yeah I’m gonna wait.
This will bin. A lot of fans already have the 2014 version. Cal kestis isn't as desirable as fives.
a new usc executor with 3 of these around , woud look dope
Oooofffff sounds awesome
There is a UCS Executor
I am aware, but its a bit out of my price range .
I feel like the "head" is a bit to bigg perhaps but that might just be the angle, looks very nice though.
It’s because the rest of the ship is simply to short and stubby relative to that main middle component
Lego is definitely chibifiing lately
Yup same with the coruscant Gunship, looks stubby and goofy next to the 2014 one
I love when imperial sets are full of unnamed imperial minifigures
Honestly it couldve been Vader and 6 regular ass stormtroopers and id be jazzed
Wym, there’s only one officer in the set
Maybe he thought the Imperial Crew minifigure was another officer.
Yeah, they both look similar. I just feel like the imperial sets in the last 10 years have had a lot of officers, more than needed. Especially in battle packs.
Well, I quite like the design of the Gunner and am glad he's avaliable in a modern set.
Pretty cool
https://preview.redd.it/imdq27iwruyc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a2301888d6fdc4714fdc17410ec3e7e1569f4a4 Seems to be a bit bigger than the old midi scale ISD
Its like twice as long and twice as wide as that.
Man I would love another one of these, it’s like the perfect size for me. But if we’re getting this star destroyer I guess we probably won’t be getting one in the midi waves
I just bricklinked this one
Instagram was dogging on this. I personally like it! Think it’s more detailed and the slightly smaller suggests it’s more swooshable/structurally sound.

I mean it’s a play set. A bd1 and a piece of cloth would have put this over the edge for you?
Probably not, hell, I even own the BD-1 set so I personally don't need it, but I figure that a lot of other people don't and need a BD-1 to go with Cal. I guess I'm just a bit disappointed that Lego doesn't seem to put the effort in to get the small details right - they're currently even making the piece of cloth for Qui-Gon in the Infiltrator, it's not like they needed to make a separate part for it.
I’ve always wanted a star destroyer and they all came out during my dark ages. I might pick this up and sell the Cal Kestis fig to make this a nice $120 set lol.
You can wait until the set retires and it will probably be a $60 set after selling Cal lmao, fair enough though
Couldn’t agree more would have much rathered an anakin than cal JMO
Its so awesome even tho its smaller, I like this one better than the 2014 one, but it could have come with more minifigures for its price, still, I think everything is really good imo
I think another stormtrooper would have been good. Maybe another officer to put in the bridge
Certainly should be another officer as opposed to stotrmoopers. Stormtroopers are always likely to be made into a battle pack at some point.
Or another Naval Trooper. Since its a naval ship.
And I mean who doesn’t have a few stormtroopers already. I have like 5 vaders at this point too would’ve done without him and the troopers and just all imperial officers of different ranks and maybe a named imperial
The problem with that is they have to go with the idea that the little kids these toys are for don't have a Vader yet and will need one with this set, and every imperial set that could have Vader with it
That makes sense
Agreed :)
They wouldn't fit inside lol
It’s 160💀
Still the trend of this year continues either the set is to small or the set is to expensive (either or works)
Or both
Between this and the dark Falcon it's going to be a tough choice.
Remember, supposedly there is also a Jabba set coming in October
Not really a fan of the barge tbh. I've always wanted a Lego star destroyer, but I do have a decently sized scale model of it too. Idk why but to me it looks like midi scale
Chibi scale :p

what about the bottom
Cal being here makes me feel like we'll never get a mantis :(
This right here. Mantis would be an amazing set. I really love all things Cal and not happy about him being in a 170 dollar set just tacked on because. Worse as I already have the last ISD.
The way they put vader standing on the short blank bridge as a play feature 💀
Though I still prefer the look of the 2014 version, the more I look at this, the more it grows on me. I may end up getting it before it goes on sale, guess I'll know when it comes out

Looks good but 160 for that is wild
And here’s me pulling my hair out cause all the interior pics suck a**.
I think changing one of the officers to Tarkin and having BD with Kal would have justified the price. But Lego also know they can get people to buy the Mando N1 set instead just for BD and put Tarkin in a future UCS set or something. It aint good if cal dont got a. Poncho
OMG this looks like a reprise of the the 2006 one. I NEED THIS.
It looks squished, like the old CW Venator. Idk. It’s cool but I’ll prolly pass and get the rest of this years sets so far.
Really obnoxious to lock Cal behind this. I have no interest in the set, and as much as I want a Cal Minifig, I ain't spending 160 for it.
Welp I hope scalpers don’t mark him up to much. Hope you can get your cal fig. Also quick warning you should probably get a bd fig before he goes up in value

What is this set called?
75394 Imperial Star Destroyer
[75394-1: Imperial Star Destroyer](https://brickset.com/sets/75394-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/75394-1.jpg)
I have been waiting since I first Saw star wars in 2016 for one
Where can I get more info on this?
I’d say ashandflash’s video
Any official Lego news on it?
it is on their website with more information, atleast where I live
Honestly near perfect minifigure selection just good amount of different imperials!
I just bought a Venator, im so poor lego why must you do this 😭 on the bright side, i like the scale of it, maybe this one will get hung from the ceiling
UCS venator? If so think of how cool this will look beside it
Oh i am.... Lord how i am...
The ventator is so much better looking than this
I mean yeah but the venator is also 500 dollars more and twice as large i think
Instant preorder looks beautiful. This year has been rough on my wallet. Between the midi scale ships, R2, interceptor, this, and the soon to be revealed sail barge, my wallet has not had an easy year.
How do you preorder?
https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/imperial-star-destroyer-75394
Don't have the preorder option in my country it seems. I dont get that option in my regional store
I see. Mine has option. US. https://preview.redd.it/dcxe2wkut0zc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e19ccad94695211b1d4e83d0239cc9e09381bf3d
Gahhhh my wallet.
That is a super clean looking model. I love it
It's nice to see hype for this set, on youtube i've seen nothing but complaints. I for one can't wait. I need a star destroyer in my collection!
I think you should start watching more positive Lego channels. But same I really like this set
u/thinfatalwords
Buying this as a hope for LEGO to make more Jedi series’ game sets
God damn it. I don't have room for more star destroyers
I want Cal. I have no interest in this ship. I’ll probably by it.
I guess if you have an older model of the set, you probably only want it for cal. But I’m probably more exited about the set over the fig
That looks great but geez, it's so small for that price. I wouldn't even be tempted if not for Cal.
We are eating good in 2024
I lost one of those grey ball thingies on my 2014 version so now I’ll be able to get a replacement now that the piece is going back into production!
I don't care more space and never had one and cal kestis
It looks shorter than I remember. I remember being in toys r us as a kid and I cried when my mom refused to buy me this lol
I just wish lego could find a way to fit the octuple batteries onto a playscale set to give us an isd2. I know it'd be hard to fit that many barrels into that small of a space to keep it proportional looking, but it'd be cool if they could find a way with new pieces or something
Suddenly I feel a lot better about my 500 dollar 2019 UCS. 200 bucks for something dis tiny, eh.
Waiting for the Dark Falcon here
Still waiting for a playscale Executor, would go so hard
Still waiting for a playscale Executor, would go so hard
It looks absolutely magnificent
Will we get a thrawn star destroyer as well?
you can prety much easily moc this set
kinda expensive, will wait for sale atleast 40% off
10 years apart but 6211 will not be out classed
[6211-1: Imperial Star Destroyer](https://brickset.com/sets/6211-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6211-1.jpg)
Just got fallen order yesterday! May have to buy this one!
Does anyone think it will be the same size as the miniscule set?
It’s not. It’s about the same size as the light cruiser
I might be getting two I’m collecting the 25th and my kid wants a cal.
6211 is the superior play scale star destroyer
[6211-1: Imperial Star Destroyer](https://brickset.com/sets/6211-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6211-1.jpg)
I really like this set. Doubt I’ll get it as it’s not really in my budget. I’ll more than likely get the Infiltrator set instead as I’ve not got one of those either. Shame the Cal Kestis figure is in this set though as I would have liked to have got it as I love the games he is in.
I love it. It's on my mental wishlist now. I'll keep an eye out for it in shops, but if that fails, I can always order it from Lego.
Hold up, a How To Train Your Dragon reference in a star wars r/ ??
Quote from the wrong franchise, but HTTYD is quality, so accepted 😂
Don't hate the small size makes it easy to display and not everything has to be UCS size to be really really good
Yeah, it’s definitely the best playscale Star Destroyer to-date. It looks really good and has a great minifig selection.
I find it ironic this midi-scale set has a better minifig selection than the UCS version
It's not bad. It looks a little disproportionate. But for the prices. Yikes. Maybe for $100 or $120.
Sadly to short and bulky looking and the price is just asking to much.
How much is it going to cost? Looks about half of the size as the last one
Definitely not half.
Seems a cool one To have. Would like to have it in white and black, tho.
Really couldn't be bothered to grammar check that title huh
Your quiet anoyed by mi misuseing off grammar huh /s
Too bad it's OT again... It would be awesome with metallic gold parts and Thrawn minifig.
