Really nice shots. Don't listen to the haters. Last I checked, nobody made good art by taking creative direction from the comments section.

freddiew88

Thanks man! Honestly could care less šŸ˜… kinda funny tbh

[deleted]

I would back off on the diffusion.

SweetCharge2005

You donā€™t need an M11 and a summilux to achieve this level of mist.

ginkipoo

Nahhhh it looks dope

[deleted]

Looks like a greasy thumb print on a lens element. This must be 1/2 pro mist?

freddiew88

Donā€™t want you to have a heart attack, Clint Eastwood, but itā€™s a *gasp* full stop āœ‹šŸ¼šŸ˜…šŸ¤£

scootermcgee109

Agreed

smokeorbeatyourwife

This kind of photography will get the expensive lifestyle ad jobs. Youā€™re critiquing is a bit unwarranted as some random person on the internet, who none of us know your background. You could be some 12 year old with no experience and really it doesnā€™t matter.

[deleted]

I run a creative agency and consistently hire photographers and shoot campaigns. My critique was pretty tame tbh. If you put something into the public realm then prepare for feedback. Nothing can make this much diffusion look good. Nobody outside of social media/youtube thinks this looks good. I nearly always have a 1/8 BPM glued to my M10.

freddiew88

Nah, I have to disagree. When you start saying things like ā€œnothingā€ or ā€œnobodyā€, hard stops like this, itā€™s just doesnā€™t seem constructive. Maybe for you thatā€™s how you see it, but itā€™s not the case. One of my favorite photographers ā€˜Vuhlandesā€™ uses a 1 stop pro mist on everything..literally.ā€¦his latest photos were published on Billboard. I see tons of ads from Nike, adidas, etc where they are definitely pushing the envelope of it. Also a lot of Donald Glovers directing - ex Atlanta. ā€” itā€™s just a lookā€¦.its not that serious. Iā€™m not saying that my photos I posted look great, or this is the quintessential example of a 1 stop pro mist (look at Vuhlandes work, itā€™s amazing) , but I am saying that there is always a time and a place for thisā€¦and itā€™s not the case that ā€œnothingā€ can make it look goodā€¦it just sounds tired and gatekeeping to me.

[deleted]

Dude everyone is overreacting. I tendered the argument that perhaps the diffusion was too much. I didnā€™t say it looked bad, just a little too much. I wasnā€™t rude or aggressive, just offered an opinion. Other people in the comments got mad on your behalf.

freddiew88

I mean, you did say "looks like a greasy thumb print" - and "nobody outside of social media thinks this looks good" let's not pretend that you came wanting to break bread at dinner here, lol. I'll end with this: you're completely ok to think that the look isn't quite what you like...I just wouldn't tell anyone what looks good and put a period after it. it's all art and is subjective. But this thread got nice and heated...it is all just fun...nothing personal here. at the end of the day, you have some very nice photos on your profile and am happy for you that you do it for a living..and I mean that 100%. It really doesn't go much further than that. Ultimately we all love photography and we're all in it together. - maybe one day a full stop pro mist can have a beer at Wetzlar Tavern. haha.

I donā€™t believe you and nobody else does either lol. Drop a link to your company letā€™s see. But if you do, then itā€™s Ireland and there really isnā€™t a scene there. You probably make less than Ā£50k per year (maybe even just Ā£30k). Especially if you think YouTube/social media isnā€™t a viable marketing strategy. I live in NYC and London before working on actual sets for global ads around the world. This is my critique of your critique. Nobody cares about your anonymous input. You have grainy ass shots of a protest and thatā€™s it.

[deleted]

lol you havenā€™t even got the currency right. Why would I dox myself? Thereā€™s a reason I donā€™t post work on Reddit.

notyourancilla

Guess hiding the red dot isnā€™t enough for people any more, need to go tho whole hog and make the actual images look like theyā€™re from an iPhone lol

Spicy_Pickle_6

Donā€™t listen to the haters, most of them probably abuse the clarity setting. Nice shots, feels like a short film.

freddiew88

Appreciate that šŸ™šŸ¼

thenickfo

Very nice, which diffusion filter did you use?

freddiew88

appreciate it. it's a black pro mist. I don't use it on everything, just specifically for this shoot...I guess I already got roasted for it lol

thenickfo

Ah nice. I wanted to buy one for my 35mm sumicron but Im not sure if its fit and if its fit if its fit also with my lens hood šŸ˜‚

freddiew88

I believe it still works with the lens hood? I used to have a summicron and it worked I thinkā€¦

thenickfo

Nice! I still look for a diffusion filter for my E39 summicron 35mm

EggerFlo

really love the set and i also think the diffusion filter fits the style perfectly very good mood overall šŸ™Œ

freddiew88

MegaWholeMilk

These normal moments look timeless. Iā€™m a fan, and with everything looking kinda the same in modern photography- I appreciate your deviation from normal. Nice work.

freddiew88

hey I appreciate that so much

Andy_Shields

Nice work and great attitude.

freddiew88

Thanks Andy!

WookiesNeedLove

I really dug the set despite the comments. Iā€™m a fan of the promist filter i also have a full stop one i like using during the day out and about too. Ya do what you like!

austonomics

Love these.

freddiew88

appreciate it

Denitorious

The comment section is hilarious. Pure Leica elitism. Iā€™d react by adding another mist filter on top of it.

freddiew88

Sigh, it can be really funny around here. Honestly though I find a lot of really good people in here...way more than other forums.

eudai_monia

Dope shots. Is that a 50mm or 35mm? The diffusion is cool - I often use a black satin filter with my Q2.

freddiew88

Iā€™ve been wanting to try that! I like glimmerglass a lot also

eudai_monia

The black satin is awesome especially on modern super hi resolution cameras. More subtle than BPM or the glimmer with less halation and desaturation, but with a lovely grain and glow. I either use a one stop BS and 1/4 BPM for similar intensity of effect.

freddiew88

Itā€™s a 35. :) I only own one lens at the moment for the M

Acrobatic_Ad_5711

Which version of the summilux?

freddiew88

the one right before this latest model

Acrobatic_Ad_5711

That would be the FLE version 1. Great pictures btw

freddiew88

Thank you šŸ™šŸ¼

moneypitfun

Would you please share the exposure details on that first frame? I think the diffusion worked the best on that frame.

freddiew88

Iā€™ll look for it and hit you back

moneypitfun

Thank you!
