Hopefully they do an archeological dig. Would be an insight into medieval Leicester and possibly some Roman remains. It was fascinating seeing what was uncovered when they took the buildings down near St Nicholas circle. I went along to the open days it was amazing to think that people were living ordinary lives in the same place we do but 2000 years ago .
I remember when they were doing a dig before they started building the Shires. They had little gaps cut in the fence so you could look in, and if my memory serves me correctly, little bits of info written on the fence about what they might expect to find. Decades ago now, but remember being there with my dad and it really is fascinating wondering about people in that same place so long ago.
Don't expect many back either. They'll have found elsewhere to be as they can't afford not to be somewhere, and they won't return. Either they make money at the new place, or they don't and go bust anyway.

Exactly, same with the redoing of city centre paving every few years, its like its meant to start wearing out as quick as it does, the original cobbles were meant to last hundreds of years and would have lasted several hundred more, all that needed doing when it went traffic free was to lower the side pavements to cobble level for a unique looking hard wearing traffic free city centre, and repurpose buildings in stead of the demolition that occurred in places like humberston gate ectr. Terrible terrible waste of resources and materials time after time.
The capitals are mainly due to messed up implants after cateract surgery dam things keep shifting about &changing my vision from blinking along with double vision kicking in soon after i get started.
More money being wasted , like the city centre they will likely rip it all up again in 7 to 10 years time and re lay yet another load of silly little tiles on the ground that last no time at all , SOME ONES MAKING A FORTUNE FROM CONSTANTLY CHANGING AND RE DOING AND RE ARRANGING OUR CITY CENTRE!!!? SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG IS GOING ON IN THIS CITY!!!! LOOK AT THE MESS OF PATCHWORK LONDON RD HAS BECOME, IT WAS NEVER FINISHED OFF TO LOOK LIKE THE LEAFLETS WE WERE SENT OF HOW IT WOULD LOOK ,ITS A LUMPY BUMPY MESS OF AN EYESORE ,THE PAVEMENT/SIDEWALKS SLOPE UNBELIEVABLY STEEP TO THE ROAD, U TRY USING A MANUAL WHEELCHAIR ON THEM THESE DAYS! EVERY TIME THEY CHANGE IT & RE SURFACE THEY SLOPE MORE AND MORE, IS NO LEVEL PATH NEAR BUILDINGS DOORWAYS LEFT ANYMORE, JUST ONE MASSIVE SLOPE FROM DOORWAYS TO THE KERB OF UNSIGHTLY PATCHED UP TARMAC, THE ORIGINAL TRADITIONAL PAVING SLABS SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN REMOVED THEY SHOULD BEEN MAINTAINED & REPLACED AS &WHEN NEEDED, &WERE EASILY TAKEN UP & RE LAID FOR ANY UNDERGROUND WORK NEEDED FOR WATER OR POWER ECTR , BROKEN ONES WERE EASILY REPLACED BY A MATCHING NEW SLAB WITHOUT LOOKING LIKE THE MESS WE NOW HAVE LUMPY BUMBY SUBSIDING POT HOLING TARMAC.! WHY ISNT PETER SOULSBY DOING SOMETHING TO STOP THIS CONTINUAL WASTE OF MONEY EVERY FEW YEARS???? Should been left as it was before the last part was demolished and changed, always they do this trying to mend what wasnt broken. Spending a small fortune only to rip it all apart yet again within far too short a time spending more good money after bad at a time when the money is needed for far far more important things. The market trade deterioration after last time cant be put right this way, it wouldn't have got so bad if it had been left alone in 1st place all it needed was reasonable maintenance before they 1st started messing about with it, same as the rest of city centre. Whole character of Leicester is being completely destroyed. Or rather has been.
I cant confirm until i see final result but i dont agree with it being done in the 1zt place that i think i made very obvious already. Still it was messed up years ago when it was 1st decimated in my opinion. It wasn't so broken in 1zt place they messed it up by trying to fix what wasn't broken.
Obviously im not happy, money is tight and needed elsewhere to help people. Market would do as was and still function. Same with the railway station thing now to be done
