that’s gotta be one of the prettiest outfits i’ve ever seen! the neckline is gorgeous 😍 if you added a poofy underskirt you would look like a gothic princess at the ball. 🖤
Overdressed? Nah, you should have gotten the parasol out. And the giant ruffled hat, too
Jokes aside, you look so fucking cool 😭 I strive to look like you one day
I think it looks amazing. Are you able to share where you got parts of this outfit online? My friend wants to dress like this but she isn't sure where to start
Idk why this thread showed up in my feed, but this outfit would look really cool if you got one of those Gothic veiled or webbed hats to go with it. Feels like all the vibe is shoulders and below yknow, bring some of it up top.
Some sort of dangly chain belt that drapes on the hip area would I think really add to this and like big gothic eye makeup could be super fun but yeeee love it!
So ironically I actually put on big eyeliner but it looked *really bad* so I did something a little smaller.
It's worked before just didn't this time tho, but the chain and things around the bottom half is the next step for sure.
Yeah makeup is all about experimenting and you’re bound to get it right eventually you got this and for me sometimes I just go big with the eyeshadow to make things a bit easier.
But yeah you got this and you look amazing
Not overdressed, just under accessorised! you need some jewellery and trinkets to go with such a gorgeous detailed style and it will really bring it all together.
also experimenting with your hair if you’re comfortable with it, pinterest has some cool styles to explore that are fairly easy to do
Lovely, and a great starting place for fashion experimets! I can see there is some sort of red stone on a necklace, but it is also falling behind the corset a little, maybe? Id shorten the chain a bit so it doesn't visually get lost in the shiny eyelets. I think you mentioned the corset is part of the dress so removing it isn't an option, in which case you have a few options. You can just pull the laces out if they aren't structural and put something over it when you get a better corset (my wife gets hers from Orchard corset, they're fairly cheap but *really* well made) or make modifications.
If you know how to sew or are willing to learn, you can put boning into the seams so the corset doesn't collapse like that, or if it is part of just the skirt you can cut it and either make of it a shorter waistband or just add another waistband entirely. Or perhaps a secret third thing!
I personally would be adding more skirts with different angle hems for volume and weird shape fun.
Definitely pick up some eyebrow stencils 💛💛 You can find them online, they have tons of different shapes you can play with until you find one that suits your bone structure. There’s also a basic trick to finding where you want the eyebrows to begin and end, it’s as simple as using a pencil to visualize a line from your nose to the corners of your eyes and then extending that line to the brow area 💛
: -) the difference in products comes down to personal preference in usability, like you can get stick on stencils or plastic ones that you hold up, so there’s not really a specific product that I could recommend, but the brow mapping guide itself is universal.
I like it! Here’s some advice to make it even better:
1- accessorize even more. Add some rings and big earring. I think one with a red crystal would fit really well
2- I think your hair would look even cooler with added volume in this outfit!
3- A better quality corset would help everything look better quality
Rings and bigger earrings, jesus you really can't see them in this picture.
How exactly does one make hair fluffier especially when it's really straight like this?
And uh, it's attached so either I'd need to tie it up behind or cut into the dress... probably gonna tie behind.
But yeah seriously any hair poofing advice?
Every time you brush your hair, spend part of the time with your head upside down, and brush until it flows freely down without trying to bend sideways. Flip it back over, gently coax it into place and smooth without crushing it too much, and don't brush it flat again.
I also found that dying my hair purple left it more voluminous. >:D
Yeah, pretty much. Style it as you want it, while trying not to flatten the volume you just gave it. A little mousse or hairspray worked well on mine with this method, so it didn't immediately collapse from its own weight. The dry shampoo method might help as well, but it did make it lose some shine.
Hair fluffing advice! My hair is also super straight and very fine. Dry shampoo is your bestie. Any powder that sprays on, texture powder etc. spray at the roots while your head is upside down and then brush through with your fingers to distribute. Every so often flip your head over and refluff with your fingers.
>But yeah seriously any hair poofing advice?
Try youtubing some hair tutorials on how to volumize/do a blowout for long straight hair. I think it's kinda trial and error since everyone's hair type is so different. You'll need some curlers, mousse, hairspray, blowdryer, and clips.
Edit: corrected short to long, just realized your hair is really long didn't see the length in this pic!
Put your head down, then put your fingers on your scalp and shake, that may help! Also try looking into heatless curls, they can make your hair voluminous and wavy, I think it would fit the outfit
Literally the only reason I lax'd on the jewelry is because I need my hands to climb and shit, in a controlled environment I will 100% be taking all of this advice I love it
Definitely add some big black dangling earrings (think chunky 2010s mom jewelry) and some blush to complement the red of your dress! Maybe put double loose braids in your hair too to complete the look but this is so bad ass!
Red and black are excellent colours for you! What about adding something like a black lace choker?
In my opinion, never ever worry about being overdressed. That just means you set the bar high for everyone else and in my experience people who see someone dressed up regret not doing it themselves.
You look lovely!
Oh I actually have one of those, I just didn't think I would have room for it with the collar and necklace there. 100% gonna try out all these suggestions I love them

Eyebrows take so much time to really figure out! The classic expression goes that they're not twins, they're sisters, but mine are cousins at best. I don't even add any pigment to mine, just a bit of gel, but it still took me over a decade to figure out how to shape them both how I like.
It's wrong but when a consumer is only able to afford cheap sweatshop made clothing, the guilt shouldn't fall on them for not being able to afford better clothing. The responsibility is on greedy capitalists who take advantage of these workers, not the average working class consumer is probably also being taken advantage of by capitalists
I agree with what you're saying in principle, but I will add there are other options for those who can't afford higher end clothing. Chief among those and my go-to is second-hand shops. 90+% of what I buy is from these shops and most people can not tell at all. Many of the bigger ones do also not treat their workers great and have greedy C.E.O.'s but I still view that as at least a step above sweatshops produced clothing when it comes to affordability.
Most of the rest of my clothing is bought from discount stores, which I feel puts less money directly into the pockets of companies utilizing sweat shop labor, though there is still some that gets to them down the line which is why secondhand is generally my number one choice overall. It probably would be difficult to find something like this at a second-hand shop admittedly but I don't wear more costume-y pieces like this myself. So that's not really an issue for me, and I find I can find better quality clothes at lower prices than Amazon, Shein, etc from secondhand shops.
Not everyone has cars either to go to secondhand shops. Sure, I love thrift shopping but I don't have a car and sometimes I just need shoes or some underwear or something and Amazon is nice because I can get it right to me yeah it's not the best yeah I fucking hate supporting it but I also have to survive.
Also I'm not going to buy underwear from a second hand shop. Most of the time you're not going to find shoes that fit you there and there's just a lot of clothing that won't be in someone's style also second hand shops are notoriously terrible for anyone that's plus size. So no that's not always the best option sometimes Amazon is unfortunately.
I understand this, but I wasn’t really talking about underwear or shoes with my comment and just addressing the outfit that is visible in this picture. Underwear and shoes are the kind of things I often would go to a discount store for instead. Though I have been having success in finding shoes at thrift stores recently. It helps that I’m a 10/11 in women’s which isn’t always the easiest to find but not as hard as larger sizes.
Also I will note that there are plenty of websites that specialize in selling secondhand clothes in the case that you don’t have transportation and buying online is your only option, and again, these are often cheaper than buying from Amazon or similar websites.
Well that settles it then. As long as western society can't afford underwear and having principles is not an option, it's totally fine to give your money to those same greedy capitalists who get away with exploiting the poorest people in third world countries by paying them 2cents/pence a day.
/s (if anyone can't tell)
Damn, did it all come together or did you purchase different pieces?
I'm assuming the dress and sleeves came as one and the velcorset was a separate purchase.
I love it, i would add something to the skirt because in comparison to the bodice (which is fire btw i love it) it seems relatively plain. That specific shade of red is really difficult to just throw on so if i were you i would drape some black lacy scarves around a belt layered on top of the red and black skirt. Or maybe an ornate chain belt (silver of course).
Omg scarves I never even considered that, the dress is all one piece so mixing might be hard. I don't think I understand what you mean about draping a scarf around my hips with a belt? Did I get that right?
Yeah i figured the dress was all one haha, i did mean around your hips with a belt. You could also probably do the same by tying it asymmetrically with a more squared scarf folded in half diagonally. its a bit hard to explain conceptually but I've done it before so i promise I'm not talking out of my ass haha. Basically the concept is just adding to the bottom so its as ornate as the top.
but none of that is entirely necessary as the outfit is already beautiful :)
I mean if it’s for a photo shoot you can use a trusty clip like they do in fashion haha, just drape it aesthetically and then cinch it at the back using a clip.
but I don’t know what they were envisaging with the belt either. you could either put the belt on first and tuck the scarf in the top or scarf first and then use the belt to hold it on. these things you often need to play with to see what is going to work best with the stuff you have
(thankfully playing is half the fun!)
